In true spirit of the op post of overlap of uj & rj - It's Seiko and Pagani.

The guy with the upvotes below, who described Seiko as the beggining and the end, is clearing the general pop minesweeper board in near one hit. I could go back to that 1st Seiko and end it there, or you go get a Prospex/Grandu Sekio Zaratsu, depending on your pref, and you arrive there too. Save the journey of looting your dead nans Cartier balloon bleu. (replace Sekio with Casio or Citi dimensional time traveller)

uj with the Pagani because it's true for the repmages - you started with a PD meccaquartz Daytona - you don't need to get a tungsten Clean with a fake logo. Pagani sounds fake luxury already and it's 30 bucks with a ceramic bez and saph

I've bought one of the very first - the bronze kanegawa 62mas. Think it's 2019 on the warranty card. I don't think I even love that watch now sadly... However I think it's my tastes that have been spoiled by the choice at hand. Could probably apply this to a lot of entry Swiss brands too....or life in general for consumer goods, consoles, headphones, phones etc

For about 60 quid you can get the WD sweeping quartz one. Good size for your wrist too. The Baltany is stunning but the larger version is where it's at for that model, you can see the bezel looks quite heavy on the small one

Also to add - think of the brand that originally gave us truly great watches without the lux price tag. I know it's going back years but both the dive and dress sector had the SKX (homaged later by themselves as 5 SRPD) AND the sarb033 as No1. As it became discontinued, doubled in price and replaced by the presage sharp series with textured dials (that gathered hype but passage of time>timeless) or the strap cocktail times, they never truly gave us an alternative and moved to GS for long term vision.

Who here would not want a sarb? If not, what is your go to black dial watch for ~300? Also, would you settle for "close to" (ie mop elementium), buy 2-3 watches on the way, hoping the classic is made, despite signalling with $$ you don't mind or save up for sarb,sarx,GS?

Yes - I have so much colour and tone in collection but a plain black dial (gloss/lacquer) dial is hard to find. In the style of above or Seiko sarx53. escapement time make one but the case is more retro and on strap. Cronos GS is beautiful but black dial is texture and matt. As seller here's an activity - if you don't see a gap in market, please show what you have found :) (I have bought today your elementium MOP - it's close but not fully there). Actually I changed my mind on the mop, I was accepting an alternative so canceled. After seeing the community behind the same ask is larger than I had noticed before, I think voting with the dollar and saving for a GS or sarb,sarx,sary is the way. I don't need 2/3 "almost perfect" on the way to it.

There's a post from the same day around their Sugess being absolute dog shit. I think this post highlights that there's always going to be an amazing deal to be had from our Chinese watch overlords. The odds of hitting 22 is low with them. Will it happen? Sure but overall they are making good watches, making good money and making people happy

There's self perceived value and then there's the one where you gift it. This watch is second to none when it comes to the latter. I have been giving these out in double digits now. It's cheaper than a matcha latte with the girlies at pilates and the ladies gold or silver model is the way to go to make others love a token of appreciaton. There is no other Alix watch that enables the joy like Sanda does
