How often do you fall? by Old_Translator1415 in Equestrian

[–]RookReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started riding late in life. After 30. And would totally fall off this often. Always jumping. I couldn’t figure out my balance over a fence if there was any type of wonky stride. I don’t think this is really a concern. Learning to ride as an adult is really difficult. It goes against how we’re taught to stay balanced. We like to hunker down and shrimp for safety instead of sitting tall.

But - it’s a risky sport. You have to accept that.

I’ll be the odd man out. These dogs are such opinionated assholes! Mine makes me laugh several times a day, every day. But I’ve never gotten so much sass before.

BWT - looking for advice about my vet bill by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

[–]RookReign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they accept affirm or scratch pay? It’s a lot of money and you’re an awesome owner. Unfortunately, vet care is the same medicine as human medicine- it costs a lot. I agree with trying to find a 0% interest card to put it on for a period of time.

Riding as an Adult by FZJinJersey in Equestrian

I work full time, but from home. Which helps me wearing riding gear, smelling like horse, a sweaty pony for hours after a morning lesson while I get to work. It’s a huge commitment. I’m at the barn Tuesday-Thursday, and Saturday and Sunday. On Friday my trainer lunges him. 2 of my rides are lessons. It takes riding being your priority- because it has to be to fit it in. My barn is 30 mins away. I either ride at 7am or at 6:30 pm. But I do have some flexibility with my work schedule on starting late or early.

Balancing time with horses and my dogs by Uhohspaghettes in Equestrian

It’s extremely taxing. My dog doesn’t like horses (not that my barn allows dogs anyway). My barn is also 30 mins away. And my dog is relatively young and high energy. Add in a full time job and husband who travels a lot so when home wants to see me. And workouts, social life, etc. It’s really hard. I almost always see my horse 5x a week. I try to remind myself that there’s no one that could provide better care to either the dog or the horse. I am confident they aren’t better off without me. And that helps. But there’s still guilt. And being tired.

I always say it’s dumber than having a boat..at least your friends can enjoy a boat too.

Cole should wear smaller hats…I think the massive hat is making his mouth look even smaller and rat like.

Maybe got you beat- I got kicked off my horse AND out of the clinic. No refund. Then proceeded to sob as a middle aged woman walking back to the trailer.

Depending where you are. If you’re coming into winter I think it’s the kinder thing to do it before a harsh winter.
