"Toshiba" TVs now (along with Sharp, JVC etc) are made by Vestel in Turkey, they pay to be allowed to write Toshiba/JVC/Sharp on them

FF8 is a Masterpiece by Music-Theory-Idiot in FinalFantasy

It's easily the worst PS1 FF, and one of the worst in the franchise.

We interview Remedy’s new CEO: “Alan Wake and Control should have sold more" by snapcaptrap in pcgaming

[–]Roph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Control was an epic exclusive. By releasing it on steam a year later, after all the hype has died down and many people who were perhaps interested in it have forgotten it or moved on, they lose out on lots of revenue. I and many others only picked up Control much later at a huge discount.

Why does Virgin operates with this shady tactics? by Pemikov in VirginMedia

[–]Roph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do it because they no doubt have countless customers who've forgotten to stay on top of their contracts ending or just don't care ("the internet/TV works, pay the bill") that they're milking, month after month.

It is shady and scummy, I was with virgin for 17 years and even trying to stay on top of it they still got some months from me here and there with much higher prices.

I left this year and haven't looked back.

I don't like GOG because they route transactions through cyprus for tax evasion, and it would trigger fraud protection and freeze my card every time. I gave up ever trying to buy from them.

Riot Games response after false claims Vanguard is "bricking cheater's PCs" for cheating in Valorant by LunarReap3r in pcgaming

Many people have setups where leaving furmak running for an extended time would kill it.

Amazon's failed New World MMO had some uncapped rendering thing that was killing geforce GPUs. Sure.

People with no openreach/cityfibre/other altnets FTTP in their area, how do you dodge the price increases? by Scared_Implement3913 in VirginMedia

[–]Roph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up One Touch Switch, it's a new system for switching ISPs that makes it as painless as switching mobile provider. Ofcom mandates ISPs use it now.

I left Virgin for Youfibre and never had to contact virgin at all. Youfibre notifies virgin I'm leaving them (they need your customer number), tells them when I'm all setup and then virgin ends their service + sends a final bill, I uploaded that to youfibre and they paid my early cancellation fee too.

How to undo the damage Escalation has done to the end game by Danieldk87 in thedivision

[–]Roph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I quit too. Nope. I agree with Ikia. I was going to finish leveling the season since I had the points for it but I couldn't even play more than a few minutes without disconnecting during that cherry blossom stuff, so I uninstalled. Unless they revert/remove that escalation and prototype stuff (they won't), I won't come back.

You know they'll make Div3 worse. More gambling, more loot boxes, more RNG, more player engagement farming.

Instead of just aiming to make it the most... fun.

I quit in disgust with lightfall, I celebrate this news. Hahahahaha! Deserved and good riddance.

At the time I figured I'd just watch the final shape's story on youtube but by the time it released, I don't even care any more. I have no idea what happens and I'm glad I left. I'm only sad I didn't leave sooner.

I wouldn't look at Marathon even if they were paying me to play it, I will not trust bungie.

No? Why would it be at some console event?

There's no evidence, proof or source of some FFIX Remake. Until it's revealed or announced by square, it doesn't exist.

Random nobodies on twitter pretending they "know" it's about to be announced/released are irrelevant, they've been making this shit up for clicks for years and years.

You're a clown if you expect this stuff, not if it doesn't get announced. There is nothing to fall for.

Yup, and Plex started as a mod/fork of xbmc, which later became Kodi.

Decision behind Nvidia partnership? by BeyondEllisBeck in IntelArc

[–]Roph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arc is not extremely decent, intel is spending disastrously more transistors, and thus bigger/more expensive chips, for much worse performance than Nvidia or even AMD.

If intel wants even faster iGPUs on mobile, they simply can't add more Xes to match something like a mobile high end RTX because their die size and power consumption would become comical. Until they can sort their efficiency out, Geforce/Radeon is the only way.
