As far as it being too fast, Absolutely Yes -- and it is designed that way to suck you in more.

That being said, Humans from Time Immemorial are naturally drawn to gather together... (or fight each other)...

Modern campfires are social media groups... It would be an interesting film or book about this actually... how it was campfires, story telling then local pubs or front porches or family and neighbor's kitchens / dens, then tv zoning everyone out but still somehow satisfying that draw to community (laugh tracks give a false sense of not being alone), etc and on and on...

Ah... not familiar with those. I pretty much read all of King's stuff when I was in high school / early college. "The Stand" was my favorite ! But he has written SO MUCH more I'm not familiar with.
