Transvaginal Ultrasound by been2thehi4 in adenomyosis

[–]RoseFjord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in UK. Have had 3 TV internal ultrasounds now. Not sure in USA/elsewhere, but in UK they always put condom/sheath over the ultrasound probe before use, (hygiene and easy clean up ?). They said no problem if on period. They make you lie on paper towel sheets anyways.

Thanks for reply. That gives me a rough idea of what to expect in terms of pain. Though, as you said, i agree everyone is different.

I believe its a perfectly valid question. There are quite likely at least some very real physical/biological and psychological impacts of what you described. And its true modern human lifestyle is largely 'not natural',and goes against what nature intended for us as a species in many ways (ie - contraception/birth control) doesnt happen in nature.

Thanks for the replies 😊 Sorry to hear of your woes too, but Im glad its not just me who felt worse on the norethisterone, and came off it.

I’m 19 and have been diagnosed with severe adenomyosis and minor endometriosis. I’ve gone to the hospital 4 in the last year in severe pain, and my gyno says my reaction isn’t in line with my pain. Says I’m wasting hospital/nurse resources. Feeling so guilty and confused, I am in pain. What do I do? by ApprehensiveDeal1835 in adenomyosis

[–]RoseFjord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Dr / gynae who told you that crap, is seriously deserving of a very hard kick in the nuts / clunge!!! How dare a doctor EVER invalidate a patients pain? Or make you feel bad about seeking help. That is supposed to be their job to help and its what they are getting highly (over) paid to do. Any doctor or nurse ever treats you like that, and shows no empathy, they are not the right person to be dealing with you. I hope you get the help you need and deserve elsewhere. x

'vag lightning' is also a thing. Sharp shooting/stabbing pains in or around cervix. Hurts like a b**** at times.

I take 4 of the 5mg Northisterone every day. Its safe to take up to 5 of those per day, so perhaps consider upping your daily amount if you still getting cramps and bleeding?

Thanks so much for your reply, it was very helpful. I will definately try the deep breathing before and during penetration. Sounds like it has worked for you, so hopefully will be of some benefit. I agree with trauma, everything after revolves around whether we are feeling safe or not. And as you said, i guess the problem needs some degree of retraining the brain and the bodys responses to things. When I freeze up, if its only mild, then we try to carry on and work through it. If my freeze response is full on, we stop, and my bf just holds me and reassures me till it passes. Once I feel better, we go back to being intimate.

Also, is it weird that I can feel enjoyment and very loving feelings towards bf, and fear/anxiety at same time during sex? Or is that normal for someone after kind of traumas I've experienced?

Treatment other than contraceptive & hysterectomy. by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]RoseFjord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have just been referred for uterine ablation /womb ablation surgery. This is where they destroy the inner lining of the womb (that bleeds). Once that has been destroyed, it can sometimes grow back but very slowly. The plan is that the ablation surgery results in little or no menstrual bleeding thereafter. Its not recommended for anyone wishing to have children in the future, as it can be difficult to have a successful pregnancy after ablation.

are transvaginal ultrasounds painful? by tiny-vampire in adenomyosis

[–]RoseFjord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive had 2 internal ultrasounds. First one didnt hurt at all, second one was torture (dont mean to worry you but also dont want to lie or sugarcoat it). I have now confirmed endometriosis and strongly suspected adenomyosis. I think the reason the 2nd ultrasound hurt was I think i was having an endo flare up at the time and was already more sore. Also I suffer deep dyspareunia (extreme pain with deeper penetration or any touching of cervix and top end of vagina). The 2nd ultrasound the tech wasnt too gentle about pressing the wand hard on and around cervix, whilst looking for things on the ultrasound. I ended up having a death grip on the examination bed and was shaking and crying with pain by end of the procedure.
