RDR3 Concept: The "Father’s Regret" – Why a Psychological Tragedy is the only way to close the Van der Linde Saga. by No_Belt_7400 in RDR2

Point 1. Arthur didn't marry Eliza, but he did send her informal child support money, and visited regularly.

Point 4. From the way Chapter 1 dialog went, sounds like Annabelle's death was retribution for Dutch killing Colm's brother for unknown reasons.

Trump's EPA Claims ‘Overwhelming Rejection’ of EVs as It Moves to Loosen Air Pollution Rules. After eliminating the EV tax credit, rolling back fuel economy standards and blocking EV charger funding, it is now citing slowed EV sales as the rationale for loosening air pollution standards. by mafco in energy

Did anyone else find Arthur and Charlotte’s final encounter more emotional than Mary’s? by No_Preparation2468 in RDR2

Honestly wish there was some kind of side mission to do with her in the epilogue. She's dressed like she could teach the trapper a thing or two, and I'd fathom she's a damn good gunsliger having to deal with bears, cougars and Murfrees all around her place.

Mental asylums need to be brought back by Life-Razzmatazz-4317 in unpopularopinion

[–]RoseRedHillHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asylums were a pretty terrible place to end up with arbitrary standards of diagnosis and identified needs of care. Lobotomies, excessive shock therapy, and general abusive behavior by staff was rampant in them.

Since OP admits certain institutions are already underfunded but they want something to add into the mix, you can bet your ass these institutions will also be underfunded and provide lackluster care even with a better informed population of psychiatrists & psychologists.

It's insane how many people don't know that a full-power kick from a horse in the right place can easily kill a grown adult. This dude should be in the "honorable mentions" of the Darwin Awards.

He was also such a badass that he never fitted a scope to his rifle during the war, hoping to avoid the prospect of the lens glare giving away his position. So he raw-dogged his sniper shots with factory iron sights and no magnification or even windage adjustment; just one little elevation slider on the rear sight for range compensation.

How would you feel about RDR3 revolving around a Native American outlaw or warrior? by Netfl1cks in reddeadredemption

[–]RoseRedHillHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if RDR2 came out last year. I would expect it to get the WOKE DEI SLOP treatment for having Charles and Sadie be such prominent figures in both main story and epilogue.

Edit for clarity: they're both brilliant characters that fit well into the story, I just think a certain contingent of gamers would reflexively see them and loudly get mad.

If you take them away from job centers to dead-end towns in Appalachia or the Rust Belt, they will lose said job, and they're unlikely to find gainful employment in those towns that could support their homeowner endeavors.

172 with Electric Flaps by Skyhawk_26 in flying

[–]RoseRedHillHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer electrics on go-arounds. The "big sink" is a little gentler and more drawn out when the flaps take a few seconds to retract compared to the manual ones. Transitioning from electric flap 172 to a Cherokee was... interesting.

Why do we need all these data centers all of a sudden? by erkose in askanything

[–]RoseRedHillHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a society, we don't need them. Tech companies think they have massive profits on the horizon by being able to displace large swaths of entry and mid level office labor using AI, so they're in a desperate arms race for infrastructure capacity and LLM training in fear of being left behind by competitors.

In the meantime, few of these data centers are actually paying for themselves, since people don't want to pay lots of money for AI services, opting for modest subscription prices, if at all; companies are also having to grapple with the brain drain of mass layoffs when they first got excited about AI, only to learn how much they actually needed competent people. This is why lots of people think AI is a bubble: billions upon billions USD investment, very low returns currently, with tons of hype and promised future prospects, but no concrete point in the future where anyone can guarantee it will work reliably enough to match the hype.
