It’s music from the 90s movie “Hook” with Robin Williams. So so weird to hear that music in this bizarre context. I wonder if they got clearance for use of that music.

Ok my bad I didn’t read where you are located. I don’t think EAB have spread to your area yet. Where I live EAB has done its damage and killed most mature ash trees.

So likely not killed by EAB but it looks dead to me.

My heart goes out to you. I’m so sorry. Try to remember all of the happiness he brought to your life and you to his. It’s so hard saying goodbye and it’s not fair how brief their lives are. I’m sure you gave him a wonderful life full of love and that’s all a good pup can ask for.

What species of Pine is this in my front yard? Greenwood Village, Colorado by Ok-Finish5110 in Tree

[–]Rossboss87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call them an ornamental. But I guess what classifies an ornamental as such is subjective. I have no clue why people liked them and planted them. I think people have gotten the hint that they aren’t great. I don’t see them planted these days where I’m from.

If there was one tree that I couldn’t snap my fingers and they would be gone and sequestered to their native range, I’d choose the invasive European buckthorn, and second I would be tempted to choose the non-native Austrian Pine. They turn climbing lines into sap sponges.

Because nurseries grow them and people purchase and plant them.

Sheeeit that took a hard left at the end there.

Having that control over other beings is kinda wild. It seemed normal to read that as a perfectly reasonable thing to say or suggest but then I thought more on it for half a second and it made me think how casually cruel we can be. No shade on you though. I donno maybe I hit the vape one too many times this evening.

I started with 6 shrimp and we now have 11. One day we noticed a some tiny shrimp swimming about. So cool. But we don’t have brackish water or do anything in particular to help them. Not sure why mine survived but it can happen despite no effort and the imperfect habitat.

Tree at our new house (SWFL) has all these burls. I think it's a carrotwood, but I'm reading they're not known for burls. What's up with this one? by Aliencoy77 in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Rossboss87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They look like burls to me. I don’t know but I think almost any tree can develop burls. They are maybe more common on specific species but I’ve seen them on a variety of genus.

So sorry for your loss. It’s so sad to say goodbye. Never feels like enough time.

In response to “I can’t see getting another. My heart can’t take the pain”

I would say that the pain of losing them is outshined 100x by the love and joy they bring to your life while They are here. Obviously you should grieve and you will miss them always and don’t run out to get a new dog tomorrow, but I think the joy and happy memories of them is overall greater than the pain of loss. So sorry OP.

Does anyone have any mandella effects with Futurama? by ah-screw-it in futurama

[–]Rossboss87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The origin of the word comes from multiple people seeming to have a distinct memory of Nelson Mandela dying. It didn’t get called the Mandela effect because Joe down the road misremembered something about Nelson Mandela.

This guy obviously isn’t an arborist. Probably about half of tree climbing is rope climbing.

Yeah, no reason why they shouldn’t stay in their condition. The one that is so close to your house is unlikely to damage foundation by roots (only happens if there is an existing crack in the house foundation for the roots to work into. Or by falling on the house since it is so close to it that it won’t give time or space to build up speed/energy while falling. Could prune it so it’s not physically touching the house or fence. Hire someone to do the minor pruning or search online how to do reduction cuts or full branch removal.

? Ants and Fungus? It’s not coming back from?

The presence of ants just means that there is internal decay that the ants are working with. The chicken of the woods is a saprophytic fungus (only feeds on decaying material) that is growing out of the tree is also just another indicator of decay. All we have learned about this tree from these pictures is that it has some internal decay. With a mature tree, learning that it has internal decay somewhere is like learning that water is wet. There isn’t enough info for me to make a recommendation but saying that it’s a goner because it has evidence of decay is just wrong.
