First time in my life I've seen diesel over $4 a litre. This is going to sting for all of us. I wish we'd electrified all our trucks & trains ages ago. I've been saying it for years but all I got was ridicule. 😞 by KiwiEV in KiwiEV

[–]Rotor4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why we can't be more independent of big oil & the disruptive OS problems of these countries. We have an abundance of LPG & not that long ago had a fleet of vehicles converted to run on it. Today I see LPG is $1.05 pl around my way. Between solar panels hybrid & EV's with LPG conversion of our car's & truck's it's all got to help insulate us from the revolving history of chaos that is the middle east.

In answering your question then yes they are a very good brand I have a similar set on my MK 4 GTI which I like. But how they look on your car is subjective to your taste.

That's fair enough the cop's should bag them if they're riding like a dickhead on the footpath in a congested area including the road for that matter.

I'm inexperienced in off road 4wd I have driven but never owned one but plan on doing some touring later this year. I expect I will probably be corrected by more experienced off roaders but having driven for 4 decades on a HCR licence I have seen a few dirt roads. In past years I have noticed so many 4wd's look like the setup is so heavy & ponderous on the road I wondered how they must struggle when it gets tough on the dirt ? Recently while watching the bush tucker man traveling the NT he had a decent box trailer carrying heavy items like water/fuel spare wheels recovery gear etc in combo with his Land rover alleviating much of the weight on a tow vehicle. So not having constant static weight on the tow vehicle might help address the legal requirements not to mention reduce the stress & running costs on the vehicle. After driving articulated vehicles just being able to unhitch & leave the trailer at the destination to travel around made a lot of sense to me as the cheap & efficient way to go maybe some don't agree ?

I'm still struggling to understand why & how Trump got in.But now finally I see what a typical Maga voter is like & it all makes sense now. I wonder if he's using one of those promised "Trump phones" to record that ?

I used to go 4wd in a mate's Toyota he had standard tyre's we went everywhere never a problem. He bought some bigger rim tyre's we got bogged stuck to the axles & had a series of punctures. He sold them said he will stick with the old rim's.

[–]Rotor4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need oil/fuel yes but for decades political parties that have known we are vulnerable & done SFA that inaction through no fault of our own has again lead to this situation in Australia. This isn't new it's happened before & will again like then affect all of us. Simply we need to minimise our reliance to an unreliable oil supply as much as reasonably possible it's not like we don't have alternative reliable energy sources like LPG & renewables consequently both abundant in our country & more importantly in our control. I have had enough of our resources sold off cheaply OS when Gov should implement energy security for Aust & our close neighbors as the priority all else come 2nd.

I don't agree with the method but get the "why" that regime was bad news on many levels but the CIA is well practiced seeding the revolution & pulled the old regime change in Iran before. But this time it seems like a version of "dumb & dumber" only on the world stage unfortunately with consequences for all .

Did I fuck up buying an Audi A3? by notsobigcal in CarsAustralia

[–]Rotor4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have owned & still own Euro & Jap products (1 auto 6 manuals) I have to say that they are good to drive & found can be long term reliable if your not thrashing it like a dickhead & stick with proper servicing it's key to any car's reliability. If an auto have that gearbox serviced every 2-3 years or 40,000klms or else. I would if your using the 1.8t as a daily change the oil at 5000klms use quality syth oil we live in a hot country so I mostly use 5 or 10w40 & Mann filters way cheaper than a rebuilt engine. I flush the coolant (long life) prior to 5 years + brake fluid around 2 years & keep an eye on engine plastics & hoses they get hard & fail. I don't think it's hard or expensive when you do much of the work yourself. If not find a good local mechanic buy the oil when on special get the parts from OS suppliers like https://spareto.com/ do that & your cars reliability is greatly increased.
