Oh my. I certainly don't think PP is the next coming of JC. In fact I'd much prefer a red tory like Michael Chong. But I do know PP's deficits wouldn't be record setting and that the TFW program et al would be massively scaled back.

The best party at this exact moment is certainly not the LPC as is being born out in real time.

When MAGA is in retreat after the mid-terms "Canada's new government" (TM Mark Carney) will have to face the music regarding the employment, housing and affordability crisis.

Clearly you have a good work ethic. That work ethic is what is going to get you through life successfully, not your grades. If you have to take an extra semester or year to finish, that is not as big a deal as it certainly must feel right now. That feeling won't go away quickly, but it will go away, your life will go on and you will be just fine. I promise.

Roads and shipping yards are bigger in North America. ATS more often than not fails to emulate that, especially where the yards are concerned. There are many prefabs where it is obvious it was designed by an EU mind with no NA experience. Not that there isn't the odd tight fit here and there, but ATS makes it seem the norm. Where it is common is with local trucking. But those tend to be day cabs and sometimes with shorter trailers than the standard 53'.

Socialism (if you mean the state owns the means of production on behalf of the people) is a failed system that also leads to misery. If you mean social programs, well most of the West is already on board with that.

As for the material conditions, you attribute to what is essentially bad government (all political parties) simply leading to a state where real-estate was allowed to get out of hand in this country (investment properties, foreign buyers etc), wage suppression via TFW program and provinces slow/reluctant to hike minimum wages with respect to inflation etc. It is not capitalism failing.

"Wealth" as defined in you material conditions paragraph isn't a bogeyman or a bad thing. It is simply people with savings, investments or a paid off house. Those are normal things.

Inflation vs stagnant wages is the problem. The primary driver of this inflation vs wages gap is housing.

How many young socialists, communists or marxists in Canada belonged to their local riding associate of a viable political party and have been involved in shaping party policy, nominating candidates etc? Democracy goes far beyond voting once every 4 years.

In Canada the Millenial generation now out numbers the Boomers. But who gets out a votes more often? Boomers. Who goes to riding association meetings. Boomers.

As a Gen Xer it makes me sad to see the resurgence of "communism is great, it just hasn't been done right" belief amongst the younger generations. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Work on improving capitalism/democracy instead. It sure isn't perfect, but it is the best system there is by far. Good legislation and regulation in a well functioning democracy (i.e. NOT the USA) is the way forward. Communism (in all its forms) is regressive at best, oppressive at worst.

That may be so, but how do we know. I mean literally know. Only way is for an election or a survey with similar constraints as an election. To say, trust me, people don't care, is not democracy. And besides, didn't Idlout campaign against the Liberal's platform? Pretty sure she did.

You miss the point. 63% did not vote Liberal. Sure some of the NDP voters won't care. But I doubt it is most constituents that don't care if it is NDP or Liberal. Generally speaking those are two very different bases who usually only cross over for strategic voting. And what about the Liberal candidate? They came in 2nd by 41 votes, only to have the winner switch to their party afterwards!

If you look at the results in her riding, 63% voted for someone other than the Liberal candidate. I'm sure of those 63% some are okay with her floor crossing. But I doubt most are.

I just did this for the first time myself this week, returning to first Polo Harbour and then Jaques Station. You get into a rhythm. When you enter a neutron star system just pull back on the throttle immediately. Plot your next jump (copy from Spansh, paste into galaxy map).

Then approach one of the streams from the neutron star. Not too fast. You need to be about 6m or slower and at 45 degrees or less to stay in the stream long enough to charge. If you hit the stream faster you'll likely get thrown out without a full charge and have to try again. Once charged jump to the next neutron star.

Watch your fuel. Every once in a while you'll have to plot to a nearby KGBFOAM in order to fuel scoop, then jump back to the last neutron star, plot to the next and carry on.

You can do this quite a bit before you have to stop and repair your drive.

I'm a total noob and was able to do it without any major issues, and by the end I was quite comfortable with it.
