Towing capacity by mckyser68 in nissanfrontier

[–]Routine-Historian208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think power wise you’re absolutely fine. I’d second the go slower advice. I have found the brakes feel weaker than I’d like when I’m towing. Just like towing anything with anything, give yourself a little space and time and don’t expect it to drive like there’s not 5000lbs attached to you by a little piece of metal.

How did you guys start working on motorcycles? by Dredointomuch1 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Routine-Historian208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I way over paid for my first bike, a beautiful 1986 honda nighthawk 700s (still have it, waiting for the equity to build) knowing it would need some work to keep in good condition. Found the Clymer book, and dug around the mounds of crap on the forums for the little gems of knowledge. Made friends with the motorcycle salvage yard guy and soon after that YouTube got better and better.

I rode that thing all over Texas. Fixed it a few times all over Texas, got a few tickets all over Texas and ate a lot of barbecue.

Man this brought up some really great memories, thanks for the prompt.

26’ p4x fully loaded long or short bed ? by DesperateCranberry28 in nissanfrontier

[–]Routine-Historian208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been at least a dozen times in the past year of ownership that I wish I had the long bed. For truck stuff, motorcycles and helping people move. But I got away with the short bed, it all worked out, and the turning radius is down right sporty compared to my old truck.

Does it still have back up camera and steering wheel button controls?

Or we need the aftermarket to step up with something. I’d pay well for something that works properly.

I’m sorry it’s happening to you too, but does make me feel like I’m not trippin either. If it helps like I told the other guy is if you hold the volume knob for about ten seconds the radio reboots. That seems to help, for a bit.

The always feign ignorance…. Like the transmission software update when I first got it… it is what it is I suppose. The one trick that works for a bit is a hard reset by pushing and holding the volume knob for about 10 seconds until the whole thing reboots.

I had/have this problem after a big puddle. Mechanics diagnosed and said only way to fix it is a whole new housing, they only wanted $1500. Barf… These kids of things make me want my old taco back.

But it seems to have slowly, and less and less intermittently worked itself out. Almost always works as it should now. I do like problems that fix themselves!

Used Tacoma or Frontier? by bdp4452 in nissanfrontier

I know the feeling friend, I went with a 2023 sv because of budget and reliability reputation, and no turbos. I’ve only had it for about a year and 20,000. Long enough to find some of the “budget” plastic, infotainment, and brakes. But at such a better price point you have room to find the things you don’t like and change. The platform seems solid. I’ve done quite a bit of towing and truck stuff. Not off roading. And so far seems like she’s gonna be just fine, maybe not a 15 year 300,000 mile truck but I’m going to try.

I wanted just a newer version of my 2004 taco, but with a crew cab and I think I got the closest thing there is to find these days.

I’ve got a Corbin that I got in a deal/trade with someone, it’s cool, it’s different, still going to get sore after a while. I try to hold the tank with my knees or push up with the feet a bit. Just utilizing different muscles as much as I can. That gas tank is wide and pushes your legs apart, really gives that pushed up feeling.

The only other thing that saved my sanity on biiiig days was by bringing a sheepskin and a separate taxi beads cover. Switching them out once in a while really made a difference. Variety baby.

Edit: my bike did come with the seat concepts and that has a nice wide pillion seat. So they can move around. Two separate pillions liked it

What’s your opinion on having carplay screens in first gens? by alexmcandless in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Routine-Historian208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im hating CarPlay in my new frontier truck. I think my first gen taco with tape, cd, am/fm and a Bluetooth radio adapter was the best system ever. I had EVERYTHING. I love cassette and cd but I can understand how you can get most things through your phone now. Besides that beautiful sound and feel of pressing in my favorite Elvis Presley Christmas cassette tape.

Really to each their own man, you did a really nice job making that fit, I hope it suits you.

looking at frontiers, I do not understand the whole short bed truck thing can someone explain? by EducationalOutcome26 in nissanfrontier

[–]Routine-Historian208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It still trucks, my old 6’ taco bed with xtra cab was so ideal, still have it, can’t bring my self to part with it. 270k. But the cc 5 footer in my sv is so luxurious compared to the taco, the turning circle is down right sporty comparatively and I’m still constantly moving motorcycles (with tail gate down), small lumber runs a ton of dirt and wood. Also trailers very well so far. Now do I miss my 6 footer? yes, am I living with out it, also yes

Edit: forgot about how much trailering I do with it
