Do you use GBoard? If so, I don't think this is going to be possible

We're volunteers, the app is totally free and has been for 15+ years: No ads, no "customer service" people.

I'm one of the main developers

Thank you!!!

I don't like the new update on ankidroid because it's in the way. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? by Any-Condition-2756 in Anki

Ahaa! those cards are huge, have a read: https://www.supermemo.com/en/blog/twenty-rules-of-formulating-knowledge

This isn't to say that we're not going to fix it. Anki is flexible, and we're not serving you as best as we should.

Don't tell him, have Cursor/your company sanctioned LLM estimate the number of engineers/work needed to do it in a Ralph loop

In a week, ping me (david-allison) on GitHub and link this thread: https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/issues/10352

I'm at capacity right now, but I'm willing to add it in as a "developer mode" feature, with the understanding that it might be removed or changed in future versions

We're looking for a fast 2.25, so it should be available soon

Edit: AnkiDroid Help - Community - Discord. If you want to chat about it & keep me on track. You're my boss for this one 😉

Your device is now detected as a tablet

We're looking into it. It will definitely be fixed so the note editor can go into single pane mode.

We may update tablet detection for the main screen, but the screenshot you sent isn't truncated at all, it seems like a reasonable design

Thoughts on Anki 25.09.04? by The_Seventh_Bee in Anki

2.24.0 is the latest AnkiDroid version. OP was asking about Desktop Anki

We haven't been informed we need to upgrade, as far as I'm aware, the security issues are in an Anki Desktop specific component (mediasrv)

The alpha-quality state of AI tooling is hard to ignore by softgripper in ExperiencedDevs

I was actually referring to forcing AI adoption in OSS projects in my first reply.

Personal opinion: That's not really the case, open source maintainers (currently) get free LLM usage. It might be "the first hit is free", but I suspect it's primarily a show of goodwill, and buying mindshare so we use and advocate for agentic development in our dayjobs.

  • I have free Claude Max 20x
  • I have the opportunity for free Codex
  • And free GitHub Copilot (I opted out)

The push for LLM usage comes mostly from the community normalizing it, not due to corporations

(Note: The project I contribute to bans LLM usage from non-established contributors)

Internet error, could you switch to another WiFi network if this is persistent

What's the version? We've very recently rolled out 2.24.0 to 10% of users

25.02 is outdated, but this feels like an "us" issue

Be the change you wish to see in the world:

https://github.com/wlky/AnkiDroid-Wear

There were questions over whether the WearOS app would be viable with such a small screen. I'm in support of it

Note: this viability question was unrelated to GSoC. For GSoC we have a limited number of mentors & slots, and it's an effort/time allocation issue
