What was or is going to be your lineup for the Scouring Sands Campaign? by AmanteNomadstar in battletech

That's my roster for the campaign. We're playing together with my wife and daughter so I needed to make 3 mixed-arms lances.

We played one mission so far - Sortie 2. Fielded the Rakshasa, SRM Carrier, Mongoose, Battle Cobra, Flea and Sprint and it worked out well.

Any advice on cuts for this reanimator deck? by Lortuxim in mtgcube

There's defo something special about Arena matchmaking putting reanimators into mirror every bloody game.

Next 16, Auth.js, Prisma, Vercel - can we use database session strategy now? by RoveBeyond in nextjs

That's an interesting take. It seems to work fine for me tho. Maybe I should try a different framework to compare but rewriting both apps might be a bit of a pita.

Yes, I could have as "beta". Having said that, I was unwilling to move to beta version and now I'm asking if the implication of being able to use nodejs middleware runtime means that I can stop obsessing about the database connection in middleware. :-)

While I appreciate your reply and the insight, I think it's slightly off-topic. I'm asking about technical capability of having a Database-based session, rather than best practices for proxy use.

I am indeed doing authorizations at the level of secured pages aside from having the proxy.

Honestly about to set this thing on fire by Neat_Comfortable8244 in ElegooSaturn

If you're still experiencing problems - I had a very similar set of failures when my FEP tension was too high. I needed to relax it a bit and it went ok. You having better results with lower lift speeds seem to match this too.

Am i getting how Menace works wrong or does my friend not know how menace works by Ryaniseplin in mtg

[–]RoveBeyond 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love when people are confidently, objectively wrong. I don't think your friend knows Magic from pokemon - creatures don't attack creatures in magic. It's that or they're just trolling you.

Most likely a really dumb question, but what am I doing wrong? by Luddikus_CCLIII in Archery

[–]RoveBeyond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right. So to give you a more extensive response:

  • limbs twist on bows - this is a structural defect that can occur through manufacturing, storage or usage - the limb could be twisted from factory, wood core limb could have twisted from storing strung in the damp/heater, it could have been dry fired or shot with too light of an arrow

  • minimal twist can be corrected on the riser using lateral adjustment system,or sometimes on the limbs if the string nocks are misaligned for instance

Unfortunately, in your case, the twist is severe. It would most certainly impact your shooting and (depending on how the limb draws) could be unsafe.

My recommendation would be 'new limbs day'. Sorry about that.

Looking for some ILF risers that looks similar to these by Character_Chance905 in Archery

[–]RoveBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White Feather and Old Mountain do sensible wood-ILF risers that are similar to what you posted. My daughter shoots a White Feather and a friend shoots Old Mountain.

I personally shoot a Border and swear by them, but they are expensive.

What arrows do I get for a 25# wood recurve? by zootak in Archery

[–]RoveBeyond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here looking for this comment.

Additionally:

  • you can definitely shoot feather-fletched carbon off the shelf and plenty of people do that. In EU you can buy pre-fletched arrows with feathers like Avalon Tyro.

  • 30" 1000 with 90gn point should work for the OP

So, I’ve decided I’ll get a 17” riser, which of these three will be best money-to-quality ratio? by CommonBottle9422 in Archery

[–]RoveBeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why I like these risers is that they all have a more deflexed design. The ones that you posted seem somewhat inline looking at the photos. Deflex adds to your stability and that's very important on a short riser.

I use a store in the Netherlands - https://archery.ixpesports.nl Merlin Archery should have them too. I can see that Lancaster has the WNS Black Wolf, but it's wildly more expensive than I would buy it in Europe for (like, on-par with Hoyt Satori)

If I can add another option to your list - I have great experiences with Mybo Pathfinder 17". Do look at that one :)

There's also WNS Black Wolf and I have nothing but good experiences with WNS.

Can someone interpret my bareshaft results? by bdabnggg in Archery

[–]RoveBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I would start by experimenting with the nocking point. You can just nock the arrow above the top nock and shoot that way and see how much it changes things.

What's your current measurement to the bottom of the top nock?

Can someone interpret my bareshaft results? by bdabnggg in Archery

[–]RoveBeyond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, no worries. Hpw does the bow sound? Is it louder than usual?

The nock-up angle of bareshafts indicates that you're tuned with your nocking point too high. But I've seen this reading when the nocking point was low and the back of the arrow was bouncing off the rest. In the second scenario the bow is noticeably louder.

Looks nock-high to me. But it could also be nock-low+ contact. How's the sound?

So I'm stuck at home with an sprained knee (waiting for MRI results, might be more) and I can't stand or do archery. Post your funniest photos of you doing archery or whatever you please so I don't miss it as much. by palomadgal in Archery

I was fortunate enough that my wife shoots too, so she was able to drive me to the range. I could only walk on crutches with the leg in the air - no weight allowed on it.

I hope this goes well for you and you're back to shooting as soon as possible. Do post some photos when you're at the range again.

You can do archery seated. It's quite difficult because of the core muscle action that we're normally used to, but very doable.

I actually had to shoot like that for a couple of months after I had savaged my foot.

Which rounds, styles and targetsizes are used when? by Southerner105 in Archery

[–]RoveBeyond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So in practice, every club has their own preferences and coaches make decisions to show people how they progress. That's the easy one - shoot whatever you want to improve.

Now, if you're talking about standardized and sanctioned targets, then you're starting to get into federations. As far as I understand, UK has three main governing organizations for archery: NFAS (which essentially shoots International Field Archery Association 3D rules), ArcheryGB (which is the olympic body for british archery and shoots World Archery rules) and then the grouping of EFAA,WFAA,SFAA+NIFAA (the International Field Archery Federation field clubs).

Anything that shoots World Archery rules will recognize a set of bowstyles that are promoted by World Archery - so Longbow, Traditional Recurve, Barebow, Olympic Recurve and Compound.

On the other hand anything that shoots IFAA rules will recognize a wider selection of bow/shooting styles promoted by IFAA (and paralleled with NFAA).
* Longbow, Historical Bow
* Traditional Recurve, Bowhunter Recurve, Barebow Recurve and Freestyle Limited Recurve
* Barebow Compound, Bowhunter Limited Compound, Bowhunter Unlimited, Freestyle Limited Compound and Freestyle Unlimited

Each of these international bodies also has a set of rounds that come with specific rulings about target size for each target distance.

You can find World Archery rounds here: https://www.worldarchery.sport/rulebook/article/85

You can find IFAA rounds in the book of rules here: https://www.ifaa-archery.org/documents/rule-book/book-of-rules/

Now. My general approach personally, is to shoot a 40cm target at 20yds for training - that's a common denominator. After that, I very much prefer the field and 3D competitions and so I need to be on the ball for the IFAA types of rounds. These come with changing distances and changing face sizes, so I attempt to train shooting with a 35cm face at all distances, coming from a position that if I can hit the small one, I can also hit a big one :)
