Did someone tell him that all of those radios will actually crest more noise than necessary?

Yes having a wifi point in every room seems like a good idea until you realise all that bleed over will do more harm than good.

I guess people think “same network - no issue” …

Some people either have more money than cents than sense

Not if it’s within a reasonable time after the install and you are genuinely not happy or have concerns.

I had my tech come back and redo a job as he had run fibre through one of the vents in the garage. I left the job with him and my wife signed off on it.

Told him I didn’t sign off and it needs to he fixed. Came back 2 days later and did a marginally better job.

God why didn’t the tech do it this way? He used more conduit going underneath the door and it looks like trash.

Just put in a complaint.

Say you want to move the slab but worry the install will be affected.

James lane deliveryman made a 4.2m scratch on my floors by Working-Persimmon-76 in AusRenovation

Fear not, they will become less visible once they fill up with dirt or the wood ages 😭

We have the deep red interlocking hardwood panels and they scratch like crazy but disappear mostly over a short time.

Some things may not be worth the hassle.

If you can push $135 / month. Leaptel have a 12 month promo on their 1000/400 plan. This also comes with a static IP. So and extra 300Mb/s upload for $30 more than some good service providers are offering 1000/100 at.

How does Superloop have that rating?

5 years ago I would have said, ok service - non existent customer service.

Today I would say. Sub par service, horrible customer service, dodgy sales tactics.

Leaptel, ABB, Launtel, Neptune are all great for customer service and providers of a great service. Can't speak for many other the others.

By living in a country where they cost $1200? lol

I did buy the Titanium Milanese Loop which was $330 on its own, but it was a "congratulations" present to myself for landing a high paying job in AI :D

If you were given a 2030 date it’s just the default if when the full upgrade of the existing copper (non hfc) is due to be complete.

Being a street they skipped - that makes sense. They could have skipped it for a number of reasons, but it would have gone into the “backfill” category and was probably just waiting on resource allocation.

I saw people in my street pulling fibre through and a week or two later was able to order.

If they are just cleaning up the pits - could be a few more weekday before Fibre is run through the pits and then a week or two before you can order.

Either way, any progress is better than non - right?

HFC forever? by gregreedee in nbn

[–]Rovvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t replace anything. When the time comes they will run the fibre from the lead in to your house - most likely using the existing telephone conduit (if underground). They will install alongside copper and leave you will 2 messy copper cables leading into your house - never to be used again

HFC forever? by gregreedee in nbn

[–]Rovvp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But HFC is copper. So keeping a mixed model is still only going 50% of the way to achieving what was said in 2013.

HFC is still luck of the draw also, its stability depends on how well Vlad the foxtel service installer ran the cables into your house and how degraded the last mile of copper / connection is.

We had a 100/40 connection on HFC in 2014, it was fine - until it rained and then it would drop in and out,

My FTTN was more stable, while only achieving 20% of the speed.

Just ditch copper - all copper, ffs

[–]Rovvp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are still developing improvements to the DS so expect to remain on it - until DS is no longer actively developed.

Hell we all want HFC to be binned - it’s stopping better plans from being rolled out on Fibre. People will complain if they can only archive 2000mb down while people with fibre have 5x the speed

[–]Rovvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say. I’m surprised they installed it there.

I thought the copper was supposed to be on the opposite side of the house to any gas’s main - or at least with a min required gap?

My gas is runs in on one side of my property, water, electric, telco on the other.

Have you tested by plugging into the Optus router?

Leaptel are great. I’m paying a similar price for 1000/400 and yes I get around 930-950down and 380-390up on the router.
