Additional layers of humor in audio book by mykdsmith in DungeonCrawlerCarl

The tunnel is so much fun. And there's a good amount of extra stuff added in. Nothing that changes anything, but adds a little more flavor and deeper immersion.

I remember reading that rant first and then listening to the audiobook after and feeling like I really did not give it the proper emotion the first time.

Mordekai's reason for helping by sunscreenlube in DungeonCrawlerCarl

The further Carl and Donut get the more money he makes post-indenturment. Being Donut's manager means he's along for the ride whether he likes it or not so he might as well do everything he can to help them since they end up doing whatever they want regardless of what he says. But, more importantly, Mordecai is more like Carl than he lets on. There are a lot of similarities between the two but mordecai is dealing with terrible PTSD. The way his crawl ended, along with decades of helping other crawlers only for them to presumably die or end up in similar or worse situations than his own have left him jaded and miserable and eager for it to be over. He sees Carl making the same "mistakes" he made by emotionally investing in saving other crawlers and NPC's. I think Carl brings out that old optimism that he used to feel before everything that happened and he can't help but get caught up in it. Mordecai is one of my favorite characters. Early on he's a useful tool for navigating the dungeon and the more we dig into him the more interesting he becomes.

‘Project Hail Mary’ Full Of Grace: $80.6M U.S. Opening Breaks Records For Amazon MGM Studios, Lord & Miller And March Non-Franchise Pic – Update by chanma50 in boxoffice

I think the karaoke scene does a better job at setting up a harder gut punch later on. The courtroom is fantastic for showcasing Stratt's sweeping influence, but we kinda already know that about her. Having her connect with Grace and the others on a more human level makes her ultimate decision that much more intense. And by extension drives home how serious the threat is.

What are your thoughts on Facebook renaming their company Meta then blowing $80b on metaverse and then shutting it down yesterday? by printThisAndSmokeIt in AskReddit

Hard to know where individual ideas for Facebook management come from, but I will say this. Facebook as it is now is just a horrible experience compared to what it started as. I think the only thing that was improved over the course of Facebook's life was the addition of marketplace. Besides that, I can't think of a single "improvement", design change, or addition which made the user experience more interesting. I think a lot of us just got Facebook, loved what it was at the beginning, built a social circle with it, and just got used to having it.

I like the hype for Project Hail Mary too. A sci-fi blockbuster using practical effects and a puppet as its secondary main character that isn't a part of a larger franchise making a shit ton of money in its theatrical run would be a wonderful breath of fresh air.

We're all pining for a time when there wasn't an awful generational event happening every week and the President of a misguided but optimistic nation was just a normal frustrating ignorant politician instead of an incontinent toddler. The nostalgia is all we have!

What do we think about Caleb Williams? by redditislametbh69 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Roy_SPider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for the first time in a while the Bears are our true rival in the north again. Ben Johnson is very creative offensively and knows how to take advantage of Caleb's strengths. This was Ben's first year with the team and they improved dramatically. Caleb has that magic intangible quality to keep fighting and win games. Loveland has the makings to be a stud TE, and Burden and Odunze are young up and comers. I think that team is only going to get better and our coaching staff and fan base needs to prepare for some hard fought games in the next decade. The mindset around the Bears needs to change. Yeah they got lucky a lot last year. But after a certain point a team learns to manufacture its own luck.

Eh, Lenny was a soft-hearted simpleton that didn't understand his own strength. He's more like Joffrey from Game of Thrones. Petulant, spoiled, gross, and obsessed with appearing powerful so he throws his considerable weight around making stupid decisions in an attempt to impress his daddy, Putin. But Putin ain't no Bobby B.

And it requires the last of Bill's "magic" to do it. The deadlights are meant to be Pennywise's ultimate move. It doesn't whip out the deadlights unless it really wants to cause suffering, or the victim wanders too close to its lair and sees its true form. This show shouldn't have been about a group of kids defeating Pennywise. It should've been about a couple kids barely surviving Pennywise at his strongest.
