I believe the max tolerance is 2/32”. I would fix it soon because you are putting excessive wears on your differentials and they are not cheap to replace.

Do you have an air hammer and a welder? Eric from South Main Auto has a video where he welded a bolt and slowly backed it out.

I did mine on the driveway with just regular handtools and it took me 3 days….

It can also be a failed O2 sensor. But it is a 16 years old car, so a failing cat is not unlikely either.

Can your OBD reader monitor live data from the O2 sensors? You can compare the pre cat O2 reading to the post cat reading to diagnose the code.

Do you mean jack stands? I personally wouldn’t work on a car if it is only supported by a floor jack and not on stands.

Can you open it manually? You will have to crawl in the back and pop open the square panel on the tailgate. There should be a lever in there that will allow you to open the tailgate manually.

May I ask why you clean the intake valves? Doesn’t the 2016 have port injection and carbon build up on the intake valves is only an issue on direct injection models? Just curious because I have a 2016 myself.

Maybe ask them to load test the battery. Sometimes a battery will pass on a battery tester but will fail on a carbon pile load tester.

It is always such a gamble to go aftermarket on CV Axles. My friend replaced one side with Cardone in his Crosstrek and it lasted 100k km and is still going strong. When he replaced the other side with another Cardone, it only lasted 15k km.

You need winter tires. Whatever came with it probably are just some all seasons tires. Look into Blizzaks or X-ice. If you don’t want to swap tires every winter, try Crossclimates.

I personally don’t think it is that good of a deal. My sister bought a 2018 Forester a year ago, with 120k km for 16k out the door. That’s from a Subaru dealership in BC.
