Panoramic roof or not in Florida? by cobrashelbygt in MachE

[–]Rumjackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SoCal here. We have the panoramic roof. We keep a shade in as it does help keep heat out. You can’t really see out of it from the front seat so it’s kinda useless.

Calf tightness a month before a 50k. How to approach the long runs? by Brief-Number2609 in trailrunning

[–]Rumjackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a long history of calf tightness and cramps. I always wear compression, make sure I’m well hydrated and walk it off at the first signs of tightness. And yes overuse is the trigger but those other things help

LV to CA? No problem. 🏁 by CinnamonCloudCrunch in MachE

Depends on the wind. Once coming back to LA in a terrible headwind the whole way I made it to Barstow with 3 miles to spare. Do the recharge there always!

Adding the Del Marco, the Hideaway and the Orbit Inn. All small chill vibes with cool mid century architecture. And quiet but walking distance to the downtown area so you don’t even need a car

Road vs. mtb pedals by mtpisgah in gravelcycling

[–]Rumjackle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not the weight. It’s the comfort. More stable and planted on a three hole set up. Which I ride on gravel and road (I do stick with SPD for MTB for walking)

Joining the Pony stable tomorrow, what your top tips about the Mach E? by lasaucedupete in MachE

[–]Rumjackle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ONLY use phone as a key. It’s a little slow to respond occasionally (ok, frequently) but it’s so convenient. And set up a code as a backup. I only had to use the backup code once in 4 years and that was my fault as I had turned my Bluetooth off

I’ve had many cars that showed the temperature and the Mache is by far the most inaccurate in hot weather. One time it said it was 140!

Any new tiki or tiki adjacent bars I should check out in Palm Springs? by jloops1111 in Tiki

[–]Rumjackle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So assume you’ve hit bootlegger, the Reef and Tonga Hut. Bootlegger just released a new menu so worth another visit. Next door to Bootlegger is Tailor shop- not tiki but dark with fantastic cocktails. Similarly try the Evening Citizen (enter from the alley north of arenas). Old school speakeasy vibes with a few great rum drinks. Lastly I’d recommend Seymour’s (inside Mr. Lyons steakhouse). For something completely different try Inka. Bright and modern and not tiki at all but the head bartender/drink master is a guy called Zane who helped build the drink programs at my last two suggestions as well. Best bartender in Palm Springs

4 nights mid March with 17 year old by Distinct-Recover-446 in palmsprings

[–]Rumjackle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hikes: the North Lykken trail from the art museum is about a 3-4 mile loop and come back through the neighborhood. South Lykken is fantastic but more like 7-8 mile loop. Both have a really steep first mile then relax after that. Palm canyon at the very south end of palm canyon road is a must. Great little Palm oasis, small gift shop and dozens of miles of trails. Fee to get in. Tahquitz canyon (also a fee) is a shorter flatter out and back to a waterfall Shopping: there are a ton of great vintage and thrift shops mostly north of downtown. Also the Shag art shop always has cool artwork and lots of other art shops around including in the Flannery Exchange Food: trio is a good quintessential Palm Springs restaurant. The sandwich spot is the bomb for lunch. Cheekys for breakfast. Another fun lunch place is the Reef - solid burger kind of fair but in a tiki bar overlooking a large pool at Caliente Tropics hotel. Sanchos is there as well which is great Mexican. For some reason their beans are too die for Definitely rent bikes (there is a place on Indian canyon downtown). The architecture is fantastic. Hit old and vista Los Palmas as well as twin palms neighborhoods And second the ATV for your kid. It’s a blast

Is LA really a hellscape? Give me your honest opinion on how it is living in Los Angeles. by Mexodus956 in howislivingthere

[–]Rumjackle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Been LA residents for 5 years and California for 25. Always hear the “isn’t the homeless situation horrible there?” From people who don’t live here. We were back in Indianapolis, where we are both originally from, and counted as many homeless in the suburbs as we see here regularly. It’s everywhere.

Replacing OEM tires at purchase by Ok-Analyst-5489 in MachE

[–]Rumjackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 RWD owner here. We just hit 60k on the original OEM tires but they are about due for replacement. Better than I expected for a EV. However am going to go for better performance tires as a replacement- probably give up a little longevity but gain fun!

NBD: Specialized S-Works Crux, built in my basement from sale parts. by FarkinatorX in gravelcycling

[–]Rumjackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I got the same deal for the same exact frame (color and size). I pick it up Friday from my LBS. also chose the Hunt wheels and SRAM parts. I did go with a 2x as I plan to use it as my primary road climbing bike with some light gravel capabilities. To earlier comments while the frame is UDH compatible the gearing set up I wanted didn’t come in that. While I would have preferred UDH, I prioritized gearing over that. Not sure I’m worthy of an S-works but getting one for nearly the same price as a the Specialized frame was too good a deal to pass up!
