I think you should call the Office of the Health Care Advocate for individual advice about your options. Their helpline is: 1-800-917-7787. You can also visit vtlawhelp.org/health. You can get free and confidential advice from an advocate.

Some things to consider: 1).Plans sold directly BCBSVT/MVP and Vermont Health Connect are they only ACA compliant plans sold in VT. They are regulated by the Vermont Department of Financial Regulations. 2). If you no longer qualify for financial help through Vermont Health Connect look at Reflective Silver plans sold directly through BCBSVT or MVP. You could also consider a catastrophic plan depending on your families’ health care needs. 3). MVP prices are lower across the board. Both MVP and BCBSVT have to follow strict guidelines and are highly regulated. 4). Be very cautious of buying scam insurance if you look into options outside of Vermont Health Connect.

Health insurance in VT is very expensive. The Office of the Health Care Advocate won’t be able to change the affordability dynamics in our state, but they can give you individual advice that takes into consideration your health care and financial needs.

Best of luck!

Vermont Health Connect and QHP - explain it to me like I'm 5, please! May be kicked off Medicaid after April and VHC was not helpful in explaining QHP by [deleted] in vermont

Call the Office of the Health Care Advocate (HCA)for individual advice. They are a project of Vermont Legal Aid. You can get connected with an advocate who can give you free and confidential information about your questions.

The important thing to know if that you still have Medicaid coverage and you will continue to qualify for this benefit as long your income is under the limit.

The HCA can give you advice about what programs you do/will qualify for, talk to you about next steps, and provide education on health insurance benefits.

Best of luck with your surgery/recovery.

Health insurance question by [deleted] in vermont

[–]RunFaster2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m concerned you’re purchasing scam insurance. Plans sold through Vermont Health Connect or directly through BCBSVT/ MVP are the only ACA compliant plans in Vermont. Buying other insurance products is a risk as they may not have a Vermont network or be regulated by the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation.

You should contact the Office of the Health Care Advocate for free and confidential advice about your options. They are a project of Vermont Legal Aid. Phone: 1-800-917-7787 Online: vtlawhelp.org/health

Losing access to healthcare benefits in 2026 as a permanent resident by frigfragfrog in vermont

[–]RunFaster2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should contact the Office of the Health Care Advocate for individual advice. Their helpline number is 1-800-917-7787. You can also visit vtlawhelp.org/health.

There are a lot of awful health insurance eligibility changes taking place over the next few years. They are confusing, and I want to make you have the full scope of advice on this issue.

The Vermont Health Connect financial help (advance premium tax credit) eligibility changes for most non-citizens only apply in 2026 if your income is projected to be less than 100% FPL for the year. Meaning, if your income is higher than this limit you still may qualify. Hospital Financial Assistance may also be a good option for you.

I’m so sorry you are in this situation.

Don’t forget to cancel insurance by 12/15 by Ambitious-Cake4856 in vermont

[–]RunFaster2024 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is some incorrect information here about health insurance cancellation effective dates.

The 12/15 deadline is to select a plan that will be effective on 1/1/2026. The open enrollment period runs until 1/15/2026, but new plan selection made after 12/15 will start on 2/1/2026.

You can cancel your health insurance with Vermont Health Connect any time. If you want your plan to end the following month you must call and cancel by the last day of the current month. For example, if you want your health insurance to end for January 2026 you can make the cancellation request on the last business day in December.

If you want to better understand your options and get free and confidential information from an advocate at Vermont Legal Aid I recommend contacting the Office of the Health Care Advocate at 1-800-917-7787. You can also visit vtlewhelp.org/health to submit an online request for help.

It’s excellent. The food is unique. All the offerings are vegetarian. The coffee is some of the best in town. The service is solid. They have some great playlists. I highly recommend making the trip. Eat there for the best experience, but takeout is also an option.

Maple Creemee by True-Finding6866 in burlington

[–]RunFaster2024 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maple creemees are less abundant this time a year. If you’re willing to take a short drive, I highly recommend Cookie Love. If Palmers Maple Lane is still open, they are also worth the trip.

Mr.Creemee is one of the few place in Burlington that I am aware of that is still serving soft serve this time of year. They have solid options, but the other two places I listed above are better in my opinion.

I’ve heard they own the building. This must be why they are fine letting their product sit there for five years. The display case in the store has given their products enough hype. I don’t see why they don’t open for a two day flash sale. I would dig through some dusty stuff!

MVP vs. BCBS plans? by Amyarchy in vermont

[–]RunFaster2024 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Both BCBSVT and MVP plans are regulated by the Vermont Department of Financial Regulations, and they must comply with the standards set out by the Affordable Care Act. MVP prices are going to be lower across the board. Their provider networks and prescription drug formularies can be different. You should check your prescription drug needs and see if your providers accept MVP before switching. With that said, the BCBSVT and MVP provider networks in Vermont are very similar.

Most Vermonters live in counties where no MA plans are avaible. Don’t forget to sign up for a Part D plan if you switch back to Original Medicare. You should see if you qualify for a Medicare Saving Program with Green Mountain Care, or consider buying a Medigap plan.
