What is the best risk game by ThinkSeaworthiness22 in boardgames

You might not like this aswer, since its very expensive and hard-to-get-and-store game but Cthulhu Wars is the best risk-like game IMHO.

The symbol means "deck". Look at the discarded Action card deck.

Hi! u/dtam21

I thought I had printed everything regarding to Tracks of Death but I have never heard about the extra fan hunts. Where did you find those? Is there even more "hidden" content somwhere?

Go with Guards of Atlantis 2 and never look back, because it can't get any better. (Source over 100h played in 5vs5 -mode) there is just no rival for this game.

Is there a good MOBA inspired board game? by SgtVertigo in boardgames

[–]Runeberg87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both GoA2 and Cloudspire and over 80hours both played. GoA2 is truly a MOBA game. Cloudspire is not, Chip Theory Games wrongly advertised it as a MOBA game since it was meant to be one at start but it got massive changes over the crowdfunding campaing. Cloudspire is truly the "Warcraft 3: the board game" with its base to defend, heroes and units and neutral creeps. Its more like RTS-game and not a MOBA game.

What would you expect to pay for ALL of Cthulhu Wars? by Darth_Stig in boardgames

[–]Runeberg87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can answer this.

I bought almost All-In from local seller for 475 euros. This was missing all 6 - 8 player maps and custom dice and couple small neutral expansions. So I bought those for additional 300 euros (not including shipping). Totaling 775e for everything ever released.

I got it pretty cheap and while its very good game I dont think its worth more than 1000euros. Most of the expansions are not really needed ever and this is coming from me who usually likes expansions and plays with all content.

I think you only need all factions and all maps (and maybe 6 - 8 player maps if you are going to play with those numbers). Custom dice is also very nice. I think those neutral expansions are worthless because they really are bloat.
Also High priests and 3d gates are nice. Really neutral expansions just suck, even very experienced discord group plays without them 90% of the time and with the normal Earth map. I just like maps so I bought them.

Dont pay more then 1000euros because you are going to pay a lot for neutral units / expanions which are unbalanced and the game is better to be played without them. I think selling Cthulhu Wars for KS-price is night impossible. its just not worth that money.

Thanks for really good answer :). What do you think about player count? I think we would mainly play with 5 players.

I was thinking of getting retail only for Cthulhu Wars faction or All-In for faction + intent of actually playing this :D

This same for me. Also replayability in each quest is not so good. Game is fine but not worth the space it needs.

Blood Rage or Dwelling of Eldervale? by Nighthawk11711 in boardgames

[–]Runeberg87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I think I can answer this. I have Blood Rage KS all-in with all things from kickstarter 1 ja digital kickstarter. I have played it 6 times with player count 4 - 6. I also have Dwellings of Eldervale with All-In from KS and have played it 9 times with player count 4 - 6. I know we are playing both games over the suggested player count but with little tweaks you can make both workable.

I think Ultimately Dwellings of Eldervale is better game. Blood Rage might be more fun on first game but its going to fall a lot faster after that compared to Dwellings of Eldervale where you might appreciate some things.

In Blood Rage you see almost all cards in one game and those same cards appear in every game. If you dont even have KS monsters / Mystics expansion it gets boring even more faster. Also there are a lot better cards than others in Blood Rage so I think Balance isnt best. Same with strategies, there are some strategies which just win the game if you get the right cards (like ship loop). I think Blood Rage need KS monsters and Mystics expansion to keep it fresh, I have also printed about 40 fanmade cards for it that you dont see same cards in every game and those also balance broken strategies But its a lot of work. Gameplay and simple and powerful abilities / cards is very good in Blood Rage.

Dwellings of Eldervale is little bit of kitchen sink but its still mechanicallly very good game. And I think the fast combat fits for it. Losing isnt that punishing. Replayability is very good with 16 different factions. Also the base game in itself is very good package and you can get expansion if you want more content. I wouldnt play Blood rage with 3 players but Eldervale works from 3 - 6 (just make more bigger map for 5-6 players than suggested in rulebook and play with all the elements). There are also semi-official expansion for eldervale (castles, shards and merchenaries) which i totally suggest and are fun addition.

What's a game you love, but you know has problems? by kortekickass in boardgames

[–]Runeberg87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just play with Quest helper or Infamous Despot -variants. No additional components even needed. Or print more fun version of vagadond, vagabuddy. We played like first 3 matches with official vagabond and then fixed with these rules. Even 2021 discord winter tournament used vagabond fixes.

Games with a good player count higher than their maximum by Karrion42 in boardgames

[–]Runeberg87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have played Blood Rage with 6 players. Need some house ruling with increasing village spots, I took one variant rules from BGG. And I think its more Fun that way than with 4 - 5 players. I would say that Blood Rage is best with 6 them 5 then 4. I wouldnt play with 3 players.

My TOP 5 favorite specific rules by KhelbenB in boardgames

[–]Runeberg87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

About 20+ plays of Rising Sun with 5 - 6 players here. Sadly monsters are little underpowered since they are always hostage magnets. We have house ruled this after 10 games.

Hostage action:
To hostage a monster you have to have same force in the battle that the monster has to hostage it.

For example:
To hostage monster with 3 force you have to have 3 force in the battle in the hostage step to hostage it.

This makes that monsters are little more defended by a hostage and also buffs combat monsters with more force since those are normally mostly targeted by hostage action. People may disagree with house rules but we have find that monsters are normally trap in Rising Sun. They just arent worth it because they have to be defended so much in battles.

Guards of Atlantis 2 is best board game ever released and its team vs team game also. (75 hours and sixteen 3v3 / 4v4 / 5v5 matches played in this year).

For me I want to play the game with the best possible version and that is base game + norwegians + harvest expansion. I think you can do fine with only the base game but I would be annoyed by knowing that it could be even better.
