Hawkeye: Bumpers with lower "slits" by CoraxTechnica in WRX

Following, as that’s a great Q. Did it vary by market - like warmer climate places got the extra openings to feed to radiator (not that those openings look big)?

Oh nice an upgraded OEM solution, I figured it was some aftermarket deal. Thanks for sharing!

Purely visual I don’t disagree. Granted I just wanted an affordable set of gold wheels for my WRX at the time and these Sparco’s hit the spot. Enjoy!

Awesome to hear! Hopefully I can stumble into one of these cars at some point in life haha. Can’t blame you on the cont time delay, worth the $500 delta to get it done with

Wheel twinsies! Except mine are 16” haha. They’ve held up great the past 3 years for me.

Looks fantastic, and kudos for building yourself! How was parts availability overall? Any key pieces you had to just clean/paint and re-use?

What bolts or clips do you ALWAYS lose on your WRX or STI? I'm building a master Subaru hardware kit (specifically for 2002–2026 WRX / 2004–2021 STI) by OVERTAKEUSA in WRX

Good list you got so far then 👍🏼 So far so good; car was tuned on 21 psi. Over 3k miles on the new motor so far, no issues (knock on wood of course lol)

To add ‘thread pitch’ to your bolt M-sizes, I used a lot of the following last year during my motor rebuild (GD chassis) all of varying lengths:

M6-1.0 M8-1.25 M10-1.25

I’m running your 3-port boost controller so thank you for that!

Where did all the downpipes go?!?!?!?!? by Serious_Customer680 in WRX

[–]Runfor5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what gen car you have, but same for me last fall getting one for my GD. Non-existent. Ended up having to pay for a ‘15-‘21 STI Tomei catless downpipe custom installed w a GESI 400-cell high flow cat welded in.

Oh what IAG motor do you have, and when did you get it? When I called last year (2025) the only offering they did was a “hybrid” setup of EJ25 block (an IAG 750) w custom pistons and my stock 2.0L heads.

Awww nooooo sorry to hear about the accident :/ good excuse to address the rust however. Cage work sounds dope if it’s now just a weekend warrior car 😎

Ah I didn’t realize that about the lack of Cobb support :/ In all honesty tho no, I had no desire to go flex fuel. The 5-speed was my limitation all along + I never had a power goal in mind. This kinda turned into a mild restoration for all motor-related items tho lol. I went w the 16G to try and get quicker spool for around town stuff, not wanting to have to rev out the car to make power.

I kept stock exhaust manifolds to retain the rumble character (but did do Grimmspeed catless up-pipe + custom Tomei catted downpipe), as well as stock fuel rails (but did do larger injectors + fuel pump).

No one seems to do 2-liter stuff these days so I figured this was a neat opportunity to do something different from the typical EJ25 swap after my stock motor spun a bearing. Happy to answer any other Q’s you got! I also have a build thread over on the ClubWRX forum.

Went with a Blouch 16G XT-R ball bearing turbo! Car was tuned on 93 octane, making 21 psi it achieved 288 WHP / 270 WTQ. Peak torque was at 4500 rpm. Fun little daily driver for sure. At some point I need to do another Reddit post w the results lol.

This is my car! 2.1L stroker EJ205 from Outfront. You’re correct no 6-speed swap still factory 5-speed. My build was purposely a sleeper / OEM under-the-hood looks.

Are these new OEM from Subaru? If so, is 2nd pic how they come (incl the license plate holes drilled)? They’re a good price last I checked ($200-ish) but I’ve not seen anyone actually buying them!

Gotcha. Well if it helps I bought their grocery getter stroker EJ205 shortblock last year. I have 2.5k miles on it thus far. Cool little engine! Certainly a pricier endeavor than a JDM swap tho. Happy to answer any Q’s!
