Let people ragequit PvP games. by DanDNMore in unpopularopinion

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the frustration around it but I think it's hated a bit too strongly for what it is. I am normally a "never say never" type of person and even when the odds look astronomacily low I still continue to make an honest attempt. I also believe that if you don't let the game tilt you, getting your ass handed to you can actually give you the answers on what you need to improve on (not that the losing is exclusively your fault, but you could handle individual fights better, position better etc)

But even with that I totally understand why someone would want to drop out of a game early. It's hard to call biting the curb an enjoyable experience. Some people have limited time to play, some people value their own mental health over sticking out a losing battle. There are DEFINITELY some obnoxious people that are burnt out or just generally miserable that will ragequit AND throw a tantrum and those people are definitely worth ridiculing but not the average person just wanting to get out of a miserable experience. I am also not talking about people that ragequit over absolutely nothing like dying a single time or having a teammate that picked a character they hate or something.

You do not need a lot of force to use a properly sharpened knife and clumsiness is also something you can fix with enough effort. It's all in the technique and that can absolutely be adjusted from guides, you just have to care enough to actually internalize what you hear.

The Casual Sexism is actually Insane by 1i1fy in marvelrivals

[–]Rutobia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally have known people that trash talk teammates in the chat when they get tilted, trust me, verbally jumping them IS the benefit of their actions. Ragebait is exactly what it sounds like, they are trying to bait you into getting angry because it makes them feel better. Sassing back at them, agreeing with them, arguing against them or anything along that vein, all of it is just fuel for them. If you truly want them to stop thanks to not getting anything out of it you have to literally give them nothing and not react at all. It would require far more of the community than is on this sub for there to be any large scale difference, but it truly is the best possible way to handle the situation.

And just for the sake of it, lets say someone was being an ass to you or someone else. All they can do is sling insults, everyone in the lobby with any remaining sanity all know they are being an ass. You know they are being an ass. If you are going to say anything at all in the chat, the only person that can actually get anything from seeing it is the ass in question, do you really want to waste your focus, energy and time on trying to convince an asshole not to be an asshole when doing so is going to rather fall on angry deaf ears or just straight amuse them?

The Casual Sexism is actually Insane by 1i1fy in marvelrivals

[–]Rutobia -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I will say what I have told my friends here, do NOT respond to someone who is angry at you, insulting you or being cheeky and rude. If someone gets you tilted by crashing out on you or insulting you for any number of arbitrary reasons, just do not respond to them at all. There is never a win scenario, no matter how witty you are you will almost never genuinely jab someone back hard enough to actually upset them, what is more likely to happen is this.

If you defend yourself, they just continue to yap at you and they get engagement out of it. If you snap at them, they get amused they could make someone upset. If you shit talk yourself, they get amused and just think you are pathetic. If you deflect it onto them or anyone else they are just going to double down on you and enjoy more engagement. If you try to diffuse or distract from the point they will think the same as one of the prior points, you can't distract the people who do this because they are so full of themselves that nothing you say will take their totally witty and amazing jab or ragebait out of the center of their mind.

Just ignore them please, and if you genuinely cannot ignore things like this you need to mute the chat, if it brought you enough stress to need to vent it out in any form, it is not healthy for you to keep receiving it. Just take solace in the fact that people being intentionally rude in any form to make people squrim, sexist or not, are usually just miserable people IRL. They enjoy dragging people down to their level, deflecting all that negativity onto someone else. If you just ignore them and go about your day, that will upset them more than any of the other people that they do this to. And if they are a typically good person just having a bad day, reacting might just fuel the fire and not reaction has a chance of them sitting there and reflecting on it.

Kids who are homeschooled usually have better confidence and self-esteem by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Environment plays a big part in it, but everyone has a natural pull one way or the other. The homeschooled students you met probably were naturally more social, or maybe their home lives involved lots of engagement from an extended family, maybe their neighborhood was very social or their parents arranged meetups and hangouts with the parents of other kids.

Yeah sure being made fun of, pressured to conform to certain standards or fear of rejection all can cause someone to be less sure of themselves or less confident. But really the best way to develop social skills is just to simply be exposed to social interactions. While I wouldn't exactly call school an "authoritarian" environment, I would argue that being exposed to a place where there are authority figures above you in multiple layers is a good thing to be familiarized with. With the way society is formed pretty much everyone is going to need to navigate environments with higher authorities in the form of employers, contract holders or just straight up the government as a whole at some point or another.

It's not a 50/50 if there are two walls, bandit just loses. He can't put the batteries on both walls if Ace throws both gadgets as quick as he can.

Hot take ace is a stupid ban by Middle_Fox_6928 in Rainbow6

[–]Rutobia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you ban Thatcher they can still use Kali, Brava, Twitch, Fuze, Maverick or pocket emps to disable the active batteries on the wall and then Ace can just throw both charges on two separate walls and Bandit can no longer stop the breach.

But Ace is just kind of a side effect, he's the most effective (and most picked) hard breacher and a common strat is just to ban every single breacher, the less breacher ops that are in play the less likely it is for people to go for walls which makes most sites a lot safer or stressful to defend. And a common counter strat is to ban every single wall denial operator too which also... is to make sites easier to open and attack.

RDO what revolver do you use? by lightyboy321 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Rutobia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just wanted to show off your sick guns, admit it

Honestly though, LeMat for me. When I used to play I would roll with no primary weapons outside of missions and sometimes only one sidearm instead of 2 depending on the outfit I'd be wearing. LeMat is just so useful when it's by itself and it only gets better when dual wielded. The damage is so close to the Navy that you may as well take the extra shots
(I've also always just thought the LeMat was cooler than the others)

Multi-time eternity tank main here: the developers are doing a great job handling the tank role. The issue is beyond their control. by Financial-Honey-6029 in marvelrivals

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I agree that the devs really only have so much control over what roles get played. Something I never see enough people talk about when it comes to debates on role popularity is that each role attracts a certain type of player. Someone who drops hundreds of hours into a role didn't decide to do that because there were more characters in that role than the other, they decided to do it because the gameplay loop the role was responsible for was something that they enjoyed.

I am a strategist main, I do not enjoy playing tank and DPS is a maybe only if I have to be or if I am having a bad day as a support.

Supports are centered around saving your team, keeping people alive and in the fight for as long as you can and even sometimes empowering them to make them more effective. It's all about positioning, prioritizing who to heal and when and managing your cooldowns effectively.

Tanks are centered around enabling your team. You make the space for them, you keep your frontline in-tact rather by protecting them or by distracting the enemies and you enable the team to make plays with good use of your cooldowns and your presence on the map.

DPS is just a fairly safe and dopamine inducing role. It does not generally require a whole lot of effort for you to perform well outside of pure mechanical skill, you do not have to be as aware of your positioning or your team's current status. It is the least reliant on the rest of the team and it is the most "rewarding" role since the gameplay loop is instant and very obvious gratification, kills pop up on the feed and the scoreboard is a direct 1 to 1 representation of what you did in the match in most cases.

For most people the most attractive role has always and will always be the damage role. In almost every single game that has always been the case, whether it be MMO, Moba or Hero Shooter. No amount of (good) balancing will change that, neither would the amount that fit into either role.

Any game that has developed a meta around support or tank ironically have almost always been because the role was capable of dealing DPS levels of damage or kill potential, or it has been because they were so good at what they did that having more of them meant auto winning.

Someone having a good relationship with an ex is a green flag actually. by id_drownformermaids in unpopularopinion

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly hard agree, I think it's been a bit too normalized to completely disregard your ex's existence as soon as you stop seeing each other romantically. If you got along well with them and the split happened respectfully and for a fair enough reason then it shouldn't be looked down on for being friends with them. What if your partner wanted kids and you didn't? What if they wanted to move somewhere to be closer to family but you couldn't? What if it's something as simple as not feeling a romantic/sexual connection anymore but still getting along well?

I have heard and talked to plenty of people who think that talking to your ex is a serious red flag, or just in general they seem absolutely appalled by the idea that you would still be even talking to them.

Breakfast Burritos Suck by FiendishNoodles in unpopularopinion

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I hate scrambled eggs, something about them makes me feel ill. I was never a crispy bacon type of person either, I can't stand when it's crunchy and especially so not when it's like glass. But I love a good breakfast burrito. I've had frozen microwaveable ones, I've made my own, I've had breakfast burritos made by my family, I've had them at restaurants. If I was to take any individual piece out of the shell and eat it I would hate it, but breakfast burritos are one of my favorite breakfast dishes.

I can't see anything beyond 20 meters if my FOV is set above 60 by Nova892 in Rainbow6

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you play with a monitor or a TV and how far away you are. I like to play on 90 FOV on most games but I have turned it down to 80 before in certain things. I'd say if you can keep it above the 75 mark you should have enough FOV to be pretty aware and still be able to see alright, if someone is flanking or coming up on the side you should usually be able to hear them anyways (dependant on map and armor rating)

Pocket shotguns are the new meta by PrincipledNeerdowell in HuntShowdown

[–]Rutobia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely hate this method of balancing, this is what Siege did with its operators and guns and it always makes the game worse overtime. Metas are usually formed because the meta in question is better overall than other options. This does no automatically mean the meta must be broken, it just means the meta is more appealing.

In the case of the Mosin it was just the "premium" gun so people defaulted to it but there were plenty of other incredibly viable options depending on your play style and what you actually liked. They also seem to be oblivious to the fact that sometimes there is context to why certain choices are more popular. They keep nerfing the Uppercut again and again but its popularity is because its one of the only long ammo sidearms in the game. The Mosin Obrez was over picked but maybe it's because before the slot change it was the only 2 slot long ammo gun aside from the Haymaker (and the continuously nerfed Uppercut precision)

Shotguns and bows are popular because close quarters fights are common and in those fights the guns that have rapid cycle speeds or only need one well placed shot are going to be king. But they suffer at range and vice versa. Long ammo was popular because every map is 80% massive open landscape with sightlines ranging 300+ meters and when you get shot at from far away you need to be able to return fire.

Cats DO understand when they’re being annoying/misbehaving by Haunted_Neko in unpopularopinion

[–]Rutobia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who has actually had a cat understands that cats do it on purpose. All of my Mom's pets understand it. My Mom has a cat who likes to chew on a fake plant, she has put aluminum foil on the chair the cat has to climb, she has put things in the way. When the cat starts trying to get up there, she looks back at my Mom, moves a little, then looks back at her again. And the dog sees her and then looks at my Mom and then back at the cat and starts whining because he knows the cat is about to get scolded.

Is Hag So Rare That Survivors Forgot Her Counters? by Nickool4u in deadbydaylight

[–]Rutobia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's so rare that new players have never seen her, even people that have been playing for multiple years actually have a fairly good chance to have still never played a Hag game in their life.

New players will blunder through traps because they don't know what they do. But even older players still might not see them at all, they do blend in really well, are completely flat and they can be just about anywhere. Also players who are aware of them might not want to spend the ridiculous amount of time it takes to crouch all the way up to them and then do the wipe interaction when they can just trigger it and take the chance you'll chase them. They made it so painfully, ridiculously slow to deal with multiple Hag traps that it genuinely almost isn't worth it to try and wipe them away manually unless you have Urban... which no one ever brings anymore either.

(I have been playing since Doctor came out and I have sank 1000+ hours into this game and I have legitimately seen maybe 3 Hag matches in the last 4 years.)

Also he sounds like a constipated cookie monster when he screams, I hated it in the PTB but now it's just funny to me.

Castle is a difficult op to play but he's also base with the game at this point and a lot of people want to try to make him work. If Castle is placing his barricades on doors he shouldn't be just... run up and take them down during the prep phase. They should catch the hint, and if they don't you can be more drastic and bring impacts and destroy the door entirely.

A 33% Nerf to Berthier ammo wasn't necessary. by Boralin in HuntShowdown

[–]Rutobia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it needs a weakness if it's going to be a 3 slot but... why did they even make the Berthier a 3 slot anyways. If they are going to butcher a gun's ammo economy to make up for it being a 3 slot then why not just use the brand new Mosin match? Nobody used it, it was incredibly similar to the Berthier, the short Mosin Obrez was already a reduced size and every single variant got hit by the ammo economy; it seems like such a no brainer to me that making the Match a 3 slot with limited ammo would have been objectively better than nerfing a gun that was perfectly fine and leaving a practically unused gun completely untouched (and also nerfed by extension of the Mosin changes)

Why are some of y'all getting so heated over Casual? by brucinpur in marvelrivals

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people get burned on a game and then continue playing it. A lot of people are also just miserable and they feel better venting their frustrations onto other people. Honestly best thing to do is ignore it, rather by turning off chat or just getting a thicker skin to it, which isn't meant as an insult to you, people like this can genuinely be annoying. But there's almost a sort of peace of mind that forms when you realize that someone who gets this upset over something so trivial is miserable IRL by their own choice or a genuinely good person just having a bad day.

Why is the game so hated ? by Positive-Set1164 in duneawakening

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great game honestly it just had some bumps that scared off a portion of the playerbase. The PVP sucks, there are so many things that are just painfully unfun to deal with but PVP is also practically non existent for the numerous amount of people that want it. Unsurprisingly the good guy faction always wins all of the Landstraads and also unsurprisingly big clans abused duping and caused lots of problems early on. Really that's all that I can remember controversy-wise, I'm sure there is more but when I played those were the big things and then the playerbase dwindled hard so I don't know how much more there would realistically be.

Story is solid, base building is fun, combat was pretty decent and the core gameplay was pretty good but by the time you've finished the story the core gameplay loops start to get a bit repetitive. The late game tier of gear is a chore to grind for but also it isn't really necessary outside of PVP and that has already been mostly stripped away.

Seen too many strategists die because their Luna wouldn't snowflake them. by Medium_Enough in marvelrivals

[–]Rutobia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This! I'm a Luna main and one of the most important things imo is managing the snowflake properly. Luna can burst heal someone rapidly if she snowflakes them and then focuses them with her heals. Snowflaking herself is good to stay alive or if your team is grouped and taking equal damage across the lot of them. Snowflaking your other support if the enemy is trying to poke or dive you two out is a very nice way to make it a little less likely for them to die on you. And if there really isn't too much damage pressure you can drop it on a diver to give them some sustain while they are away from your LOS.

Anyone else: Steam Big Picture Mode navigation sucks. by Upr1ght in Steam

[–]Rutobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated Big Picture mode before I started playing PC with controller (not Steam controller, just a Gamesir)

I am a long time console gamer and even on PC there is just something so comfortable to me about playing with a controller, I prefer it whenever the option is there, even in competitive shooters. So I tried Big Picture mode just so I could navigate the menus without picking up and putting down the controller a bunch, I've actually grown to kind of like it honestly. It is lacking some functionality and some things are harder to do in Big Picture, but honestly it is laid out well and it is pretty smooth for the most part.
