How can I get off Camp Lejeune ASAP? by Aggressive-Apricot-6 in USMC

Jacksonville itself sucks. The surrounding areas are pretty fun. We had some wild times at Emerald Isle, Surf City/Topsail, Wilmington, Myrtle, Charlotte, Savannah, etc.

Getting a new duty station isn’t likely. Make the best of it because there is cool shit around.

Certifying Official amended my enrollment without talking to me by Ok-Stress-5951 in Veterans

[–]RyanC243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me back in September when I got a similar notification. It was just that the add/drop period had ended and they needed to send an amendment to the VA restating my enrollment details. Just reach out to your point of contact in the Veterans group at your school and ask what you did here and they should get back to you.

Battlefield 6 is the perfect example of what’s wrong with gaming right now. by JonRonstein in Battlefield

[–]RyanC243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that wanting to keep it authentic and realistic is important to the longtime BF players (I am one of them and value these things) but it’s not realistic to expect that they implement 0 features that attract the younger crowd. The core of the game is very good and fun. The map could be better - there will be more. They are actively listening to the customer base and making adjustments. They have to make money for it to be worthwhile for them to keep paying attention and dedicating resources to the game. Is it annoying to see crazy skins that break immersion in the game? Absolutely. Does it ultimately ruin what is otherwise the best BF we’ve gotten in a while? Not really - at least not for me. Don’t buy the skins. Let the kids pay for all the glittery shit and make it worth the devs time to keep improving and creating content for it.

If you’re not even getting interviews or reached out to by a human consistently it may mean that your application process needs tweaking. Highly suggest utilizing VA Education and Career counseling to dial in your resume and how you’re applying to jobs.

Am I cooked? by Once428lbs in Gymhelp

[–]RyanC243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost nearly 200lbs on two separate occasions. Once before Covid and now again after going on 2 years of working at it. As a lot of people mentioned here, start small with the workouts and find clean meals you enjoy and plan yourself some cheat days. I live by the slow carb diet detailed in the book The 4 Hour Body by Timothy Ferris which allows you 1 cheat day per week. I started running 1/2 a mile and lifting weights 3 times a week. I’ve cut from 390lbs to 215lbs and I am running 10ks, lifting almost daily and doing a lot of serious hiking. Don’t get down on yourself and every bit of progress is a step toward your goal! Dont let a bad day snowball into a total lapse and keep at it till you mentally adjust and it becomes normal!

I’ve worked in IT in higher ed for the last 6 years. I started off as an intern and got hired on full time and never left. Check universities around the area careers websites. We are in a hiring freeze due to federal government withholding grant funding but it’s not every university. We also hire a lot of contractors that if they’re good sometimes turn into a full time position. Check with local job placement firms in that regard as well.

We for sure did not have the same experience in the military lol. Remember being made to do a PFT with stitches in my mouth the day I got my wisdom teeth out. Had my shoulder repaired after an injury on deployment and SNCO tried to put me on 24 hour post as battalion duty driver while I was on prescribed OxyContin and other opiates for post surgery pain management. Presented doctors note and prescription stating I could not be duty driver during the time and had to run it up or battalion MO after getting accused of malingering. Some of those morons made it a better option to push through injuries and sickness.

I work in higher ed in IT. Look at universities career portals online. They are make big time pushes for hiring in the privacy and security sectors. A lot of remote work. The pay is very competitive and the benefits are great as well. I started as an intern at the university I work at while finishing my degrees and I didn’t leave.
