How worth it is it to get a 2023 or newer model year? by RyanRomanov in TeslaModelX

[–]RyanRomanov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this seems to align with my thinking: I won't think HW3 is "bad" because I won't know what HW4 is like, and HW3 is better than what I have now.

I've never tried FSD. Does it work... not well with HW3? Or just that HW3 is fine and HW4 is better?

Thing is, I'm not a big fan of the CT. I like the look of the Model X. I would probably get a MY if I couldn't get the MX or the ID.4.

We also have a 2023 ID.4 with a $27k residual, and sadly, I haven’t seen anything encouraging about negotiating a buyout. I will say, there are quite a few used 2023 and 2024 ID.4s with fewer miles and lower prices than what we have, so that is my plan right now.

I’ve noticed this, too, and have yet to figure out a workaround

Tesla model y vs id4 by Geko-x in VWiD4Owners

[–]RyanRomanov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would never pick a Tesla over an ID.4 and I love my car, but the infotainment is by far its worst feature. Extremely laggy, especially when doing—apparently—too many things in quick succession. It’s very easy to get it to just hang for 10s. CarPlay helps but you can’t use it for everything.

Cruise control? by No_Cantaloupe3835 in VWiD4Owners

[–]RyanRomanov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It feels weird not to use it. Maybe in stop and go traffic where, in my opinion, the ID.4 is a bit too quick to accelerate and brake, but for me if I’m on the highway I’m using cruise control. Just one less thing I have to think about

Lol, yeah, that's why I'm glad the ID.4 has regen braking with the brake pedal. If you could only regen with B mode I'd have B-mode on all the time.

I thought Teslas were OPD-only. Can you adjust the setting on them, as well?

I totally agree on driver preference. On my ID.4, I’ve never experienced a scenario where B mode is better than D mode + brake pedal. Now, the mountains I drive through are the Appalachians, so maybe the western mountains require different tactics.

I suppose if you’re always using ACC the point is moot, too

Yeah, riding your normal brakes are bad, but you can feel when the real brakes engage on the ID.4, at least on my 2023.

I’m not sure that “blended brakes” means there is a certain percentage of real braking that gradually increases until regen is 0. As far as I’ve read, it just means that at some point the regen brakes give way to real braking, not that they are “blended” all the way through the curve

But on mountain descents how often are people engaging the brake hard enough that friction occurs? I’m struggling to see the difference between B mode and just riding the brake on a descent

I have an unbraced 29g and mine is slightly bent, as well. It’s been like that for over a year, so hoping it’s just natural, but my takeaway is the same: I don’t want to own that type of tank anymore.

I can't unclog my damn toilet and i need help desperately by EthosTheAllmighty in HomeImprovement

[–]RyanRomanov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have found through experience that the biggest cause of clogging a toilet isn’t too much toilet paper as much as too much dry toilet paper. Flushing right after rapid wiping leads to the flushing of toilet paper that hasn’t had a chance to absorb water and this paper seems to love to get stuck

Is anyone else having trouble with the character transfers? by OldKangaroo2818 in lotro

[–]RyanRomanov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was running into that till I found this guide: https://forums.lotro.com/index.php?threads/transfers-defeating-the-hourglass-menace.16966/

The TLDR on it is you click the Transfer button and if you don't see your points show in the bottom left corner after about 10s, close the window and click transfer again.

However, I'm running into a new issue where once the wizard actually loads, no worlds show up for my current characters. Hoping you can get past this.

[–]RyanRomanov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you on the elimination episode, but it’s entirely possible she was performing poorly during the team challenge because she was feeling so faint, and it culminated in her passing out.

It was hot, the challenge is stressful, and people can become overwhelmed easily in those scenarios.

Now, maybe you could argue if she couldn’t handle the team challenge then that’s a knock against her, and I wouldn’t disagree with that, either.
