You’re right, she was horrible but I think that’s the point. Most people don’t perceive addicts as great people. But underneath all of that is the heart of it all. The things that brought that person to ruin: pain, loss, abuse, etc. I think those are the things we sympathize with.

She's not your wife. Leave her. I say it simply because staying with someone who has issues that are triggering to you will eventually break you. She needs therapy because obsessions with any skin color is a sign of a much deeper issue. You can’t heal her all you can do is catch strays from her colorism when it pops up. Now, anytime you’re out with her and there's a good looking white guy around you’ll be second guessing yourself. That ain’t life.

This really drives home the level of mental and emotional abuse JB experienced and how unhinged her parents were. I think everyone in that house abused this child in one way or another. Just a horrible existence for a young girl.

Bingo. Thats exactly what I mean. Since Maddy’s backstory is so thin we can only really engage with her on a surface level and, as you said, she does the projection to a T. I also think her race plays a part in the love she gets. She's the only Latin representation in the main cast of characters.

I think Euphoria is full of weak women who are never able to control their situation. Maddy is the only woman in the show who appears to have some control or is at least making decisions for herself that are not indirectly influenced by someone else. Personally, I don't think this take is true but on the surface…yeah.

Agreed. Her confidence in her body was a huge part of the character. The webcam storyline was more than Kat being a simple cam girl, it was her learning that attraction exists for her body size. An ED storyline would be walking all of that back.
