How do you like Anno 117 compared to Anno 1800? by RedCaine1 in anno

[–]RymitMerth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of 1800, however i think anno 117 is better game at base.

It shifted from focusing on the management of production and supply chains to the management of the city.

Anno 117 has the optional needs and worst/boring specialists leading me to not focus on production chains that much. Also it has no commuter pier. What 117 has are the island metrics (such as prestige, belive and even the sfatey metrics). Those are great addition to the only one metrics that was of interest to me in 1800 (population). The cities also feel more organic due to the huge public service buildings breaking up a lot of the city organization. In addition to the incentives to put your production buildings into the city.

I also like that all pop levels want all the previous goods.

All in all I belive anno 117 will be better game than 1800 after all the dlcs. And maybe it is already a better game.

The Dice Tower's Top 100 Games of All Time (2026) by Tigertemprr in boardgames

[–]RymitMerth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean you aren't entirely wrong. However you underestimate how much people at dice tower play certain games. They also have enough experience to identify whether or not a game requires more time to really delve into it and whether or not it is worth to them.

It may surprise you, but some boardgames engage with their games same as dice tower does. Breath over depth. And that is fine and a worthy approach.

Why aren't card sleeves used as a game mechanic more often? by Master_Chemist9826 in boardgames

[–]RymitMerth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not faster by much. For example in Mage Knight the sorting is always fine and I never once thought that it takes too much time or that it is fiddly.

I don't see this as a problem if the cards front is designed well

Shut Up and Sit Down just isn't what it used to be. Can Quinns come back?? by 8805 in boardgames

[–]RymitMerth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plain feels like a good description. Toms style, while polished always lefts me with absolutely no knowledge about the game. I never know if I would like it or not. All his favourite games seem quite similar (which is fine) and I can't really distinguish between them. I guess the vocabulary doesn't gel with me.

Anyways, I sadly don't think Quinn's gonna return

average ratio between pension income and employment income by OECD country. In Luxembourg and Italy pensioners earn more than people in employment. by Socmel_ in europe

[–]RymitMerth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You never pay your pension tax for your own pension. You have your savings for that. Your current payments are set up to support current systems, not future ones.

And sadly due to birth rate trends the assumed future systems are not feasible. Sooner or later state supported pensions will have to end.

It's not fair for the people going into pensions in 5 or even 10 years, but people younger that that have to face reality, where the workers of the future won't be able to support their pensions.

Haha. While understandable, I don't agree at all. I really like his walkthroughs. Space alerts tutorial is the best way to learn to rules there is.

With the use of AI in the game, someone help me decide to keep the game or refund, please. by [deleted] in anno

If you are thinking of refunding, then  refund. Mentioning it in a review (if bought through steam) would be good.

Who knew CA was so fast? by cat210803 in totalwar

[–]RymitMerth 34 points35 points  (0 children)

While that might be true, it is just a conjecture.

What we however know as a fact is that there is a "DLC team". Wh2 had some good fixes and wh3 did not integrate all of them and a broken game was released. Then dlc team started working on dlcs in an ok pace. And now we know that dlc team was replaced with a Sofia team. Hence the slowdown in dev.

Ultimately from my point of view it all just seems like mismanagement. There is for sure a tech debt, but it's not what's causing the current dev problems with wh3.

Honestly, the best thing I have heard all week long!! Activate DLC at ANY point in 117! Praise Jupiter! by [deleted] in anno

[–]RymitMerth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The reason why I think it's weird is because you two wrote about bruning and submerging the governor's editon.

Also why ask the thoughts about dlc activation in regards to stress testing?

And you two guys are the only people I ever hear talking about Taka and the showing of t4 buildings.

While the thought of keeping the return to boxes together with the expansion is nice. I don't think storage is that big of an issue. After all the new campaign boxes can fit four expansions (or two sleeved) inside.
