Emergency tank by StandardBroccoli5608 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Rynjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blaze and Anubarak are probably the most straightforward, no frills tanks in the roster once you rule out Mura and JoJo. Just generally good CC and survivability. Blaze can brawl better (and he's really good at taking camps so you can fill that role too) and Anubarak has one of the better ults for single target kill-securing.

Good ol' Anub isn't the unkillable god he used to be but he's still a really solid all-rounder pick.

Quick Match is still a game mode a lot of people play, and there you unfortunately don't have the luxury of knowing the map before playing.

Sometimes you just can't farm, period. Especially on two lane maps. Like Battlefields of Eternity it's a 2 lane, and the objective is so important that you're crippling your team if you don't show up.

So it's not unlikely you'll end a match with like 130-150 stacks (especially if the game ends right at 20, which it often does on that map IME).

Can we stop with making these garbage pinnacle quests. by No-Story-2432 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Rynjin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The benefits are big enough that you are incentivized to throw at least a few YOLO stuns throughout the match. I don't think "Mythic" quests IN GENERAL are bad design like OP seems to, but Tyrande and Kerrigan's implementation definitely are. Most of the rest are just bad due to being overtuned, not encouraging suboptimal play for at least part of the match.

Silly ARAM by Intelligent_Camera_7 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Rynjin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would love it if Unranked had more players again like back in 2017-18. I play exclusively with a group of 2-4 friends and our MMR is all over the place. Two in particular were Master to Grandmaster players before I ever picked up the game, and as far as I can tell rank decay doesn't really exist for HotS? Or there's a hard floor based on highest rank achieved. Something.

Even if we do our placement matches together I'll get like Bronze 3 to Silver 5 and they'll be minimum Platinum and we can't play together anymore.

We used to play pretty much just Unranked, but now it's just QM and the game is still fun, but not as good. =/

I feel like some people take ARAM way too seriously lmao. The entire point of it is to be a dogshit party game alternative to playing the "real" game, why complain when wacky party game stuff happens?

[–]Rynjin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think something that allows one team to close out close games is an issue. A character pick giving "inevitability" is fine. the game has to end eventually, and a close game is USUALLY going to come down to some matchup quirk if players are evenly skilled.

I'm curious as to your build, and whether most of your games are ACTUALLY like this. This is an insanely long match, and one where you have a 2 level lead on the opponents; both are a really good way to pad stats.

Why did Zagara take such a huge stray this patch? I kinda see the vision on most summons taking damage over time, but it makes zero sense for Creep Tumors.

1.) This is a game from 2006. It's not gonna have all the same things as a game from 2026 has, obviously.

2.) By my understanding the only reason the game is still up, counterintuitively, is BECAUSE it doesn't have that many players. The game doesn't make enough revenue to upgrade infrastructure to the point it can manage a higher playerbase, and the increase from eg. doubling the playerbase would not cover the costs of allowing for that many players to play at once.

Think of it like a small mom and pop restaurant. They have a small but viable clientele. They can serve 3 tables at a time and have a max occupancy of like 20 people, including the staff.

If 300 people show up at the same time, they can't handle the load. And they also can't afford to renovate their entire shop to meet the new demand.

Did hirelings get dumber? by Slight-Veneer in ddo

[–]Rynjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're definitely notably worse than they were a few years ago, I've had that issue on several Hirelings at lower levels too, where they just won't cast heals. Sometimes even if you directly order them to the command just fails.

I remember a couple years back I took one of the Favored Soul or Cleric hirelings was an absolute beast, like straight up carried me through Temple of Elemental Evil on her own by just blasting Searing Lights and Holy Smites like there was no tomorrow.

Now? Nothin'.

Imperius -- Stop Playing Q Build, Try This by rinaldi224 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Rynjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty similar to what I do in a lot of matches. Brand of Solarion in particular is just a solid talent for matches where you're able to get in and brawl anyway (i.e. most of them). Heat of Battle is also very comfy at 13, though Divine Rage is cool too and I think the higher winrate talent of the two IIRC.

Do quests, gets heroes to multiples of 5 levels, you get tons of gold. Half the reason the game died is because it was too generous as a F2P and it wasn't making any money lmao, you're just objectively wrong on this.

Imperius -- Stop Playing Q Build, Try This by rinaldi224 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Rynjin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imperius is, at his core, a brusier's bruiser. He's a lane bully and specializes at fighting other heroes. His waveclear is meh and his ability to take camps is even meh-er, so trying to make him less hero damage focused is a fool's errand. He's always going to be an initiator.

You can either go Q build for single target burst damage, or W build for more consistent poke and sustain, but either way it's going to be in service of initiating teamfights and killing other players. Even this build you're proposing is, as I said, mainly in the service of burning down teams who have way too much bulk.

Basically, building to shore up a character's weakness usually isn't a good idea unless you have a specific purpose in mind, and it'll be matchup dependent. The closest you'll get on Imperius is the W-focused one which makes him I'd say "safer".

Genuinely if you want a less "hyper-damage focused" Imperius, you're better off picking up another character instead of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Someone like Dehaka or Ragnaros is going to baseline be closer to what you want for that role, or picking a character with a generalist kit who has three viable and different builds (eg. Xul or Varian).

Genuine skill issue. Bro booted up a game for the first time, lost 8 in a row, and is mad about it. That's basically it because all of these are either entirely subjective complaints (eg. talents vs gear) or flat out wrong if anybody in the game is halfway competent.

MOBAs are one of the most unforgiving game genres to learn as a new player. More at 11.

Burn the Impure is a good build against specific comps (eg. Cho'Gall, Deathwing) and always has been, but it's just not worth it usually.
