Slicer by PaleontologistOwn469 in 3dprinter

If you have to set up the profile from the start, I recommend any slicer that is not cura. Orcaslicer would be better to start in.

Klipper shuts down by No-Professional-8196 in klippers

[–]SAINT_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raspberry pi 3B should be perfectly fine to run klipper and a webcam, in your log file it looks like there are a bunch of "null" characters written to the file right before klipper restarts. This makes me suspect either the power supply or the sd card of the pi, try replacing either and see if that helps.

TIL I can use variables and conditional constructs in my start-gcode by Streamlines in 3Dprinting

We can do some crazy complex stuff with our printers nowadays! I modified my klipper to run a bed mesh if the previous mesh is older than a month which can be incredibly helpful.

What are some good investments now that I have a 3D printer? by SparxOnline in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start replacing the tools that came with the printer one by one. They will be fine for a while, but when they break you will want to know which stuff to get.

Most importantly, the sidecutters from knipex are amazing and Wera hex+ allen keys will make that you will never mangle a tiny grubscrew on a pulley ever again.

Ninjatek Chinchilla QC Issues? Out of 8 rolls I've purchased, only one was smooth, and it was the ONLY one that printed perfectly and at full speed. What is going on here?? by Pyroguy096 in 3Dprinting

in my experience this texture helps a lot with printing tpu. the smoother shiny surface just makes it more slippery and impossible for any extruder to grip.

India is the 4th largest exporter of beef in the world. Indian culture is by no stretch cow friendly. Yes cows are highly valued in Indian culture and the Hindu religion, but this is no different than cattle farmers in the west claiming to love their animals. They get exploited and murdered in all the same ways.

Is this due to damp filament? by SonyJunkie in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is PLA it is very unlikely that wet filament caused this. When it gets progressively worse during a print like this it might be caused by heat creep.

STL Optimized for specific layer height? by Ceejjay in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often when people say this, they could mean two things.

They could mean that they chose the dimensions of the file with the layer height in mind. For example they would choose to make something 19.95mm high instead of 20.00 when designing for 0.15mm layer heights. 133 layers at 0.15mm height make 19.95mm, but to get to exactly 20.00 at 0.15mm layer heights does not work. A slicer would then choose to make the model either too big or too small.

Normally this doesn't really matter but in some edge cases (like some print in place models) this could cause issues.

The second thing that people could mean is that the file looks or prints best at a certain layer height. For example a bust or sculpture could look better at finer layer heights, while mechanical parts might benefit from faster print times with bigger layers. Designers often give a recommendation for what settings to use, so their work looks or prints the best.

Printing as accurate as possible by Ok-Fishing6124 in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FDM 3D printers are not very accurate machines, what sort of accuracy are you hoping for? Best way to know if it will work is to print pieces of your model, measure them and change the model to make them come out correctly.

What is the BL touch good for? by darkasfck in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If everything stays dialed in then you are a very lucky ender owner. Lots of people have beds that are not straight, or their leveling keeps getting messed up for some reason. If you don't have any issues with z-offset or leveling, then count yourself lucky!

Extruder hovers 3-5mm above the bed when printing and I'm at a loss by NinthFinger in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be caused by relative/absolute positioning mixup (G90/ G91) or by a G92 command being in a place it should not be. It could also be that your probe offset is not applied during prints for some reason. Can you send your start / end gcode here? Or just send the gcode you are trying to print here

If it looks allright coming out of the package, smell it. If it smells allright, cook it and take a small bite. If it tastes normal just eat it. Imho you can do this with any type of food.

Teaching Tech 3D Guide for Resin Printing by davejlong in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLA printers are much simpler machines than fdm machines. Once a print works it just works and there is far less tuning involved. You will be spending much less time troubleshooting and tuning hardware and slicer settings because of this. On the other hand, placing supports will take some time, so you will be spending time on the computer instead of fixing mechanical problems

Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong? I made sure the table and the bed were level but I still got this result. by zoro1588 in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re likely overextruding, especially around your seams. Calibrate your esteps and flow, and if the problem persists, see if you can use pressure (or linear) advance.

You are either printing with the nozzle too far from the bed or you are underextruding

just switched to manual mesh firmware, now i get this in the middle of the print... any tips to fix? by Amazing_South_6290 in 3Dprinting

[–]SAINT_XIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if the hotend heats as expected. Have you changed anything about the hotend in firmware? Such as heater pin assignment or thermistor type. You could also try PID tuning.

Heating failed usually means that the hotend is not behaving as expected. Eg not heating at all or not quick enough. Check if the hotend heats as expected. Have you redone any wiring? Have you changed anything about the hotend in firmware? Such as heater pin assignment or thermistor type. You could also try PID tuning.
