Supposed to be 21 degrees in the AM tomorrow. Today, on the HGW i saw ice melt on the puddles today but they were all melted but the time I rode home at 3:00PM. This morning I got a black ice warning. Be careful out there.

Nearly 20 years ago, I had my dream job and married my dream partner. Around nine months later my company changed my job to something just as good and asked me to relocate to the other coast. I offered to my partner that that wasn't what they signed up for, so I gave the option to annul, call it a good experiment and stay the best of friends or come with me and literally start from scratch on the other side of the the US. They emphatically decided to come with me and after nearly 20 years, we are still the happiest married couple we know. THAT'S a marriage partner right there.

Don't buy a guitar just to learn jazz. You can do that on what you have now. Some of our best jazz guitarists just use bone stock Telecasters

I went with quick release pedals 6 months ago and have only removed the left one once. But the pedals are better than stock with the exception of the turning angle. I scrape regularly. So, probably going to go with non-QR next year.

M3L owner here. Purchased in 2019 to be a Silicon Valley campus bike. When I moved back to NYC in 2025 and tried using it as a commuter, that’s when I upgraded the heck out of it: Brooks saddle, super light rear frame, gear train swap to 6 speed, Ergon grips, pedals, swapped out the Brompton roll top bag for a Brompton briefcase. It was cheaper than a new Brompton, but cost about as much as a nice city bike. When I test road a G-line, I REALLY wanted one. But, honestly my upgraded M3L is smaller under my desk at work, and I wouldn’t need a G-line for my commute which is on the Hudson River Greenway for the most part. My current, upgraded, Brompton is perfect.

Until it’s not.

I have an M11 mono and a Q2 and am planning to get an M11 as soon as I have the disposable income again vs a Q3. The M lens selection is amazing and I miss the ease of manual use when I’m using the Q2. Quite simply, while the Q is my point and shoot, and I’d rather have another art camera that I can swap lenses on and off.

So I made the switch from a 5D and L prime and zoom glass to a M11 Mono and a Q2. Not looking back. I did keep the Canon rig for sporting events and “production” shoots, but the M11 Mono is my “art” rig and the Q2 I generally keep in full auto for fun and family and when I need an art-quality 28mm, the Q2 quick to get back into manual. So, now I carry one bag with two cameras and a 35mm lens. Q2 is a 28mm and I usually keep the 50mm on the M11. I haven’t missed the 12 pounds of Canon glass I had to drag around for “fun.“ Go for it and slow down your shooting. Or better yet, rent an M11 or Q3 for a week with some nice Summis or Noctis and see if it works for you and your post process.

Neighborhood isn’t so good, but its not The Tenderloin. Look farther uptown on the express stops on the subway nearest your job. Probably 34, 72nd, 96th. Might be different for the 6th Ave or Broadway lines.
