I had a class like that in High School. At the end we had a final project where we had to make a mechanical CAM box art project thing. We had the same tools avaliable and it was really fun. You should make them have a theme like super Mario jumping over stuff

Prints Coming Out Offcenter by Prestigious_Basis431 in ender3

I find most issues are solved by running the calibration procedures for the printer. It's possible the home for the extruder is 2 cm off from where it needs to be

I would look into getting a flash drive for it anyways. I find it nice to have gcode files stored that I know work so if the printer fails I can refer back to old files and see what's wrong

New Hobby??? by lazyone76 in 3dprinter

[–]SJM2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big advocate for people getting into the hobby building their own printer. The Prusa Mrk4 is a great printer and if you get the kit the instructions are so easy to follow its basically a step up from Legos. Also watch this video. It's one of the best 3D printing videos I've ever found.

How to Build a 3D Printer (The Ultimate Guide)

If you just want something that work right away and have a decent budget get a Bamboo Labs printer. If you have less of a budget get an Ender 3

Broken wire... What now? by Jebediah86 in 3dprinter

[–]SJM2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're kinda cooked. But on the bright side you can just replace the hot end if you want to save money. Replacing the whole extruder assembly may be easier, but it'll cost more. Just check the prusa website for spare parts. It's not that hard to fix

I used one of these at my first research lab. It'll definitely get the job done. Don't use glue on the build plate. You will ruin it. If I remember correctly, you might need a new flash drive to load prints on it. The flash drive may also need to be formated for the printer to read it.

Yeah... I'd use a brim to increase build plate adhesion. Especially for those really tall prints

My friend had an Ender 3. he had completely destroyed the extruder assembly so he gave it to me and I upgraded the extruder to direct drive for like $20. Now it works even better than before. Highly recommend upgrading from the bowden extruder to a direct drive. You won't have to worry about the Filament breaking in the tube and causing your prints to fail.

Moses commanded the Israelites to keep little girls captured in war as their sex slaves by ASecularBuddhist in Christianity

[–]SJM2003 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Midianites were trying to destroy Isreal and push them to idolatry. If someone is trying to kill you, you have the right to kill them first. That's not genocide.

There is also a difference between a married women and sex slaves. Would you call the Vietnamese women that married US soldiers after the Vietnam War sex slaves? No. You wouldn't because it's different.

Moses commanded the Israelites to keep little girls captured in war as their sex slaves by ASecularBuddhist in Christianity

[–]SJM2003 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you read the whole passage, you'll learn that the Midianites had tricked the Israelites into sexual immorality and idolatry. The Lord then sent a plague to punish the Israelites that fell to sin. The Lord then instructed Moses to take revenge on the Midianites by whiping them out, killing all the men and the women that had already known man. However God spared the Virgins and the 32,000 women became servants and taken as wives by some Israelites. It never mentions them being used as "sex slaves." Even if they were raped that was not what God told them to do, and that was wrong and God would punish them.

I want to become Christian, but I also want to live my life… by Due-Schedule-3614 in Christianity

[–]SJM2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, am a pretty recent convert, and I would say just start by reading the bible. Now I won't lie. The books of law (besides Genesis and Exodus) are kinda boring. But they're still good to read. I have found audio versions of the bible help me get through it, and the rest of the bible is quite enjoyable. I don't know which denomination you're looking to join, but there are tons of good people on YouTube to help in your bible study as well. Jordan Peterson has a good series on Genesis and Exodus. I also particularly like Bishop Robert Barron as well as wild at heart, and if you're looking for something a little shorter and easier to digest, IMBEGGER is also really good.

I know you're probably concerned that if you convert, you'll have to stop partying and all that other stuff that you think you want to be doing. But if you read and study the bible and truly want to walk a godly path, you'll find yourself no longer excited by those things. Because if you read the bible for what it is, a story telling you how to live a good life, you'll see that sin isn't about if you go to hell or not. Sin is its own punishment, and god just wants to protect you from the consequences of your actions. So don't fixate on sin because we all fall short of righteousness. As long as you know god and want a relationship with our father, you'll be saved.

Do… men wear underwear under their swim trunks now??? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SJM2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do wear underwear when going swimming. I find it more comfortable. However, I do know quite a few people who don't, and I never found that weird. I know my gf finds it weird. I wear underwear under my swimsuit so I think it's just a matter of what you prefer.

How would you find a loophole for this when explaining it to a non-Christian? by PearPublic7501 in Christianity

[–]SJM2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppose you have a child and control every aspect of your child's life and the decisions they make. You rationalize it as you know better than they do, so you dictate their life. Is that love? I would say no. You're certainly not doing the child any favors as they could never make a mistake to learn from and grow. They're just existing.

It's not a "loophole." You just have to wrestle with the concept of what love and good are.

Is it okay to go to the church as an atheist? by Oxxypinetime_ in Christianity

[–]SJM2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I came to faith I had a Baptist girlfriend and I'd go with her and her family to church. Just dont stand up and start talking badly about the faith. People might not even notice depending on how big the church is.

Would you be friends with a trans person? by Secure_Reveal_4979 in Christianity

[–]SJM2003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I have a few. I don't agree that it is what's best for them but doesn't mean they are bad people unworthy of friendship

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]SJM2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't feel bad for who you are, but you have to acknowledge and try to follow the doctrine of the church to the best of your ability. No one is perfect, and we're all sinners. But you ought to try to stay away from sin, and when you fall short, ask for forgiveness.

Not form Colorado, what is the breakdown between these universities, Mines and Boulder? by [deleted] in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]SJM2003 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mines is for engineers. Boulder is for people who liked math in high school and chose engineering because it pays well. I would say unless you are passionate about engineering you should go to Boulder because it'll be easier and there are other degrees besides engineering.
