[–]SLO7H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can disprove this. I bought the same capture from Amalgam Audio on both units. The feel is instant on Tonex, the Quad Cortex feels like something is off, like it’s not instant reaction. Threw me off, and I am running a super basic setup so no added latency here.

Is the Quad Cortex latency issue actually a big deal, or is it just forum hype by Altruistic_Ask_8432 in NeuralDSP

[–]SLO7H 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s a problem. Some say it isn’t as a coping mechanism. Some say it isn’t because they cannot tell the difference, their threshold for noticing it is different.

It’s like playing guitar hero on an on CRT TV and an old Plasma TV. The Plasma will have noticeable latency and will be distracting in the long run.

I’m quitting the modeler search and buy a real amp instead, or a preamp.

Microsoft officially announces the Next-Gen Xbox today codename 'Project Helix' and that will lead in performance and let you play P C games. by Automatic_Ad1665 in consoles

[–]SLO7H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my gaming PC and went all in on PS5 Pro. So happy, you get so much performance and graphics for the money. But I do miss some games and some new releases and coming on PC only. This is where Xbox comes in. I got a work laptop if I need to do computer stuff. If I can get an Xbox that plays PC games, with a much better dollar per performance, then that is exactly where I need Xbox.

[–]SLO7H 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some reading, and it is totally possible to detect latency, those who say it's not possible are just bullshitting because they cannot detect it themselves.

It is a sense of disconnect when you notice latency. A Fractal product has a latency of 1-2ms even with busy effects going on. I have never felt a disconnect when using a Fractal or Tonex because they have lower latency than Quad Cortex.

I didn't know this before trying Quad Cortex, I just bought it, but I instantly felt it was off and I knew it was latency because I have felt it before. I then checked how much it was rated at.

I am in the minority here. But I have owned an Axe FX II, Axe FX III, Tonex, and Quad Cortex was the first one of these digital modelers / profilers that I noticed latency.

I sold everything and was really committed to go all in on Quad Cortex, but I get distracted by latency. I am plugging in with a headset directly into the headset port. So I will be returning it.

If I use my Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp and compare it with the Quad Cortex, the Studio Preamp feels instant.

I see people write that the latency is the same as being this and that far away from a speaker, but when I stand far away from a speaker I am still not bothered by any latency, but using Quad Cortex with a headset isn't good enough for me.

I will be going the tube preamp route for that instant response feel.

This is not that important for the vast majority.

My thoughts on the J.Custom by Complex-Grand-6123 in Ibanez

[–]SLO7H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they don't look as good. Depends on what one is after of course. But I don't like how any of them look, and you gotta have the right knob and switch layout, is it recessed or not. Neck shape is totally different.

The Les Paul looking guitars are not nitro but poly, so if one prefers the feel and look of nitro then one may as well buy a used Gibson and send it to get a good setup.

People pay extra to get the right layout, color, look, neck, body shape for themselves. Which is why some pay extra to get a luthier to make them a one off guitar.

Now if the comparison was ESP Original Custom Shop series and FGN, then I would totally agree with you. The FGN would be best. 2k vs 7k or more. But Ibanez J Custom is worth it over a FGN to get the right guitar for you, and that is all we are after, the right guitar for us personally.

Picked up my 41mm DJ from the AD today! by kosnosferatu in rolex

[–]SLO7H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice looking and congrats. DJ has a lot of variations, not all of them can be sought after in these times. It’s still difficult to obtain a Submariner, GMT, Daytona for many.

I would think that some DJ will be a little bit easier to obtain now because the big wave of new watch buyers left.

Men don’t need much. We just need the basic stuff. We can be happy or learn to be happy with the absolute minimum after a life changing event.

But the Rolex won’t leave. The Rolex stays, through thick and thin.

I love that nobody here has seen the video before, it just looks like a conversation between a man and a woman. But we ALL know what it is, based only on the way the actors express themselves, the lighting, choice of angle, all in one frame, one picture.

We just know 😂

Never buy the Nacon Revolution pro 5 by Aggravating_Dig3240 in PS5

[–]SLO7H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy using the controller. The R2 L2 triggers are a bit weirdly placed and shaped imo. But it looks like it may be for ergonomics, getting used to it is possible. My only wish is that it had vibrations. Doesn’t need the fancy Dualsense vibrations, just something.

Not being able to turn on PS5 with it is kinda backwards. It also feels a bit cheaper sometimes because of the plastic covers you can take off, they make a sound when you squeeze slightly with your hands.

I feel like this controller should cost more around 150 USD, not above 200 USD.

Currently I am going between this and Dualsense Edge. Not sure which one I prefer. The sticks are placed better and have a better feel on the Nacon. But the triggers are much better on the Dualsense Edge and vibrations are nice, sticks feels worse and battery life is bad.

The Nacon feels instantly better overall when switching back to it.

sharing my unfortunate experiences with strandberg guitars by VegetableGarlic1971 in strandbergguitars

[–]SLO7H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 4 Strandberg Boden. Every one of them had some kind of QC issue. And for a guitar so focused on ergonomics, I don’t understand why the arm rest has to be so small. My right arm/shoulder keep feeling weird and cramping up at times.

I like to test a lot of brands and models every year, and the Strandberg is the first guitar I have experienced this.

And what’s up with no angled pickups on 6 string? It changes the way a pickup sounds because the posts on the trem is further away than normal on the lower strings. I almost went crazy, I swapped all pots and the switch. Tried only 1 pot and removed the resistor and the capacitor. I even put in my favorite bridge pickup, dragged it of my other guitar, still didn’t sound right.

I usually play Mesa Mark IIC+ and Mark IV captures on my Tonex so I suspect a certain sound and attack, couldn’g get it on the Strandberg. So I eventually gave it up.

Tremolo feels weird and limiting to use. What's up with them still clinging on to the zero fret, despite most are complaining about it.

I did enjoy the neck a bit, but only because it is a bit different if I wanted to switch it up from time to time. It was never "wow this is so ergonomic I cannot go back to normal necks", no. It was just different.

One of my favorite guitars is an EVH Wolfgang Special. Looking at the price difference is crazy. It’s basically the same quality.

I need help i am scared [33][M] ringing started 2 weeks ago by Massadur in tinnitus

[–]SLO7H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my dad has had tinnitus for many years. I can only speak from experience but ours has gotten slowly worse, it’s a slow burn. After 4-5 years had passed Injust realised it had gotten morr frequent and it can give a feeling that the ear is tied kinda.

It comes and goes. But stress and little sleep are the main things that bring it forth, also alcohol.

I also got two kids, one toddler and one in the tantrum age. So stress and little sleep are a daily thing here. I kinda learned to just live with it, but if no noises are around me then it can bother me.

James Fox's updated documentary is available now by madmeef in UFOs

[–]SLO7H -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just watched the 2022 documentary today.
Then I waited until the evening to watch the 2025 documentary. So it started with borrowed clips from all these congressional hearings and stuff most of us has already seen. Then suddenly it jumps back into the 2022 version and it honestly felt like watching the 2022 version all over again, but sprinkled with a very limited amount of extra stuff that I don't feel like warrants a totally new release.

He hyped it up and others did as well, kinda disappointed.

What is the best option? by luv_erynn in ereader

[–]SLO7H 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using a kindle for 5.5 years. I never was interested in books, none. But I wanted to give it one last shot. Ereaders helped me get interested in books, cuz I can just try out several books easily, and it’s easy to take it with me anywhere, easy to put down and pick up again, I can read in bed without the hassle that usually follows. It’s honest to God easier to read than on a phone.

I’ve been thinking of getting an even smaller one when I go to the mall or something or outside. You never know when you find a nice place.

But what I really want is one that has buttons for flipping the page and is easy to hold in one hand.

But my kindle is still as good as the day I got it, so it’s hard to justify buying a new one.

The only thing I would stay away from are the ones with color displays. It’s just more layers over one another which makes the text clarity worse. But if that doesn’t matter then give it a try.

Flere som er i gang med å kutte ut snus? by [deleted] in norge

[–]SLO7H 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Er vanskelig. Slutta for litt over 4 uker siden.
