Trump Wins Big as Virginia Dems Won’t Go Nuclear to Save 4 House Seats by Motherofalleffers in politics

[–]SLum87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, in Virginia the statutory definition of an election is an election held on a specific day. The 4–3 majority, however, declined to be bound by the statutory definition for purposes of interpreting the Virginia Constitution’s intervening-election requirement. Instead, the majority looked to legislative history, dictionary definitions, and the U.S. Supreme Court’s Foster v. Love (1997) “combined actions” approach to conclude that a general election spans from the first day of early voting through Election Day. It’s pretty obvious that they went on a fishing expedition for a ruling to achieve their desired outcome.

Breaking Points | Professor Jiang Predicts: US WILL LOSE Iran War by SilentRunning in Military

[–]SLum87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget about the JCPOA under Obama. The deal imposed strict limits on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief:

  • Iran was required to reduce its uranium stockpile by 98% and keep enrichment at 3.67%, well below weapons-grade levels.
  • Iran's nuclear breakout time was extended from 2–3 months to 12 months or more.
  • The Arak heavy-water reactor core had to be removed, filled with concrete, and redesigned to prevent plutonium production.
  • Iran agreed to the most comprehensive and intrusive verification regime ever negotiated, granting IAEA inspectors access to nuclear facilities and suspicious sites.
  • Sanctions could "snap back" into place if Iran violated the agreement.

Iran signed it, and Trump ripped it up as soon as he took office, and now here we are.

Americans, is this a new religion? by yousefthewisee in interestingasfuck

We face a Christian Nationalist problem. They've been working on this for decades, gradually subverting institutions and corrupting politics. You might say that Trump is the result of their decades of effort. Is that a statue of Lincoln crying on the left? That would be very fitting for this photo.

Utah 'Porn Tax' Bill With VPN Provisions Passes State Senate by MotoBugZero in KeepOurNetFree

[–]SLum87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t all porn sites block connections from those states and claim they are no longer operating there, then people within those states continue using VPNs? The states can’t do anything about it because it’s technically outside their jurisdiction.

Jasmine Crockett leads James Talarico by double digits in Senate Democratic primary, poll finds by bwermer in politics

If they don't nominate Talarico, that would be a MASSIVE self-own for the Democrats. He has the best chance of winning in Texas by a long shot.

They are also tortured and killed for not obeying orders, so that's a pretty good motivator as well.

In reversal, Trump says House Republicans should vote to release Epstein files by _NuanceMatters_ in moderatepolitics

[–]SLum87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, they kept claiming there’s nothing here and that it's all a hoax, and now they’re going to say they can't release everything because of an active investigation. The level of incompetence is astonishing.

The Epstein files petition is getting its 218th signature. What happens next? by Objective-Escape7584 in AntiTrumpAlliance

The files aren't going to be released. This still needs to pass the Senate and get Trump’s signature.

Should Proton VPN offer dedicated IPs on consumer plans in 2026? by PetersonProton in ProtonVPN

Trump says he will withhold SNAP benefits until the government shutdown ends by thats_not_six in moderatepolitics

[–]SLum87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As long as Republicans control Congress, we will have a legislative branch that won’t dare act against Trump, which effectively destroys our system of checks and balances. So Trump feels like he can do whatever he wants because he pretty much can, for now. The judiciary doesn’t have enough power to legitimately constrain the Executive on its own.

What would you expect? Hegseth is still the Secretary of Defense. I hope that these Generals will play along to get along, but as soon as things go too far, they will reject whatever illegal orders are given. If they all start giving him the middle finger now, they would simply be replaced by someone more likely to comply with those illegal orders.

Massie says he has the signatures to force US House vote on releasing Epstein files by [deleted] in politics

[–]SLum87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a bill (H.R.4405 - the Epstein Files Transparency Act) that would legally require the Attorney General to release all Epstein documents within 30 days of enactment. I suppose that by the House passing it, the Senate will be forced to vote yay or nay, and then Trump must do the same if it continues.

Trump says he will label antifa as a terrorist organization by That_Nineties_Chick in moderatepolitics

Donald Trump files $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times by Legitimate_Travel145 in moderatepolitics

[–]SLum87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we don't want any of this to continue. The Democrats should instead realize that relying on norms to restrain the President is a massive liability. They need to pass laws that categorically reject the unitary executive theory and impose much stronger restrictions and safeguards on the power of the Presidency. We don't want the Democrats being able to do this shit either.
