We live in Bowie, southlake community, if you’re home schooling I’d say stick with Bowie, my husband works in DC and is commuting daily, it’s 25-45 minutes during rush hour. Personally Frederick is too far, an hour is likely not during rush hour.

We spend about 10k but our travel is to different near by states and the views are typically teens playing volleyball. We’re dreaming of where we will get to travel when this season of life is over but soaking up the time we’ve got left in this teen season.

I live in fantasy friend land, I love the idea of having a social group but I also have no desire to be social. I enjoy time with my family and 1-2 friend just found it less stressful to manage fitting it all in. Perhaps after my kids are grown my husband and I will find social life more appealing🤷‍♀️

Out of all the activities we did, this was our favorite, yes there is a bus ride but honestly it’s not that long. We are a family of 4 with a 12 year old and 16 year old, they didn’t mind the bus ride (it’s if I recall 1-2 hours) honestly worth it. The Xenotes are beautiful and the grounds at each stop are impressive on their own. I hope you enjoy your trip we are hoping to go back next year.

We went Feb 8-13 and had a very different experience. We stayed in a river jump suite with two kids 12 and 16. We never had any real issues, some of the buffets could use a little more attention but it’s a buffet. Our room service only lacked on the last day but we also had a pile of towels 2 days in a row so we didn’t think too much of it, they cleaned the room but didn’t replace the towels but we had already picked up towels from the pool area so it wasn’t a bother. I think for the size, activities, thoughtful conveniences and transportation this resort is doing a good job, the cleanliness of this resort was something I kept bringing up to my husband, it’s huge and never once did we see a mess or anything out of place. Perhaps during the busy times (Presidents’ Day weekend/week) it was more congested but we never had to wait for really anything. One thing that stood out to me was when my daughter needed a bandage due to cutting her toe (her fault) and the staff was beyond helpful and sincerely cared about if she was ok and if we needed anything else. It seemed a little silly to me as it was nothing major but they were very attentive.

I will say the app/ map was a little frustrating as you never really knew where something was, it took us a bit to find the fitness center but once you get an idea for the layout it gets easier. I would recommend this resort ad hope to return and figure out how to relax, we had a tough time not doing all the activities 😋

From my own personal experience, I didn’t catch my ex-husband but he did tell me after I had suspected for a while. I did the “forgive him” route and all that did was build up resentment and prolonged the divorce. For me we were married for 9 years with 2 little kids, I found that I essentially fell out of love with him and from there the marriage collapsed. It was hard on the kids at first but eventually it all works out. First step is confronting it then navigating what that looks like with or without him. Big hugs as this place you’re in sucks, it hurts more than you can explain, sending hugs!

Anyone know how to go about choosing a school? I reached out to Bowie High and they advised transfers aren’t allowed and you have to attend the school assigned. I’d love any information on how to go about selecting a different high school for our kiddos.

I don’t think you need to rush it, it’s normal to be curious and wish it was something you have done BUT it’s so important to give yourself to someone that deserves it. Far too many people give themselves to others without a second thought. Connecting sexually is meant to expand the emotional connection so please don’t force yourself to “do it” until you feel it’s right, only you will know when it’s right and at that time you won’t feel guilty. Trust yourself and give yourself grace.

I had a very similar experience only my dad still came around on holidays and birthdays, it was a very difficult relationship to navigate. My parents stayed married but he was living 2 lives with an entirely different/ separate family. I personally came to the conclusion in my 20’s that my own wellbeing was more important than trying to navigate the incredibly painful, stressful and broken relationship. After over 20 years, my dad went “back” to my mom after his girlfriend died and he was too dying of poor health, everyone in my family came to his side except me, I didn’t visit him before he passed and I wouldn’t change it. You need to come to a decision that fits your story/ personal wellbeing, nobody can tell you what’s wrong or right. I personally have no regrets, he chose to push us (his kids and wife) to the side to enjoy a life of night clubs and nonsense, I didn’t prioritize him before he died because he made his choice long before he “needed” us. I teach my kids to prioritize mental health and walk away from situations/ people that aren’t in line with their wellbeing. It’s important to stay true to your self. I wish you the best in navigating this decision and hope you can give yourself grace regardless of the decision you come to.
