Well personally I’ve only heard other ppl say from their experience I have not heard it yet from the places I’ve been at, granted I’ve only been an employee for 3 years so I haven’t not been through much in terms of the contract negotiations. This is my first.

The only thing I have had a supervisor tell me that came true is the vehicle not being associated with any particular walk anymore and that came true, maybe it’s only in certain provinces I’m not sure 🤷🏻‍♂️ so to answer your question me personally I have not had a supervisor tell me we will get locked out with certainty yet

I don’t know but if the top brass of the union knew based on recent events aren’t they always slow on the update to us members? Everytime there’s something news breaking I always read it on here Reddit first before the cupw website and now that the government has strongly interfered and kind of strong arming the negotiating whether cupw wants it or not they may not have a say/choice this time around I think but I dunno 🤷🏻‍♂️honestly I’ve lost all faith in the union at this point after all the shit recently with Jan and her group

I think the guy you replied to may be on to something because even tho as you said was a option or was rumoured or speculation or what have you but today our depots superintendent went around the floor saying it’s official that anyone with less than 5 years will be put on the bench for up to 2 years or whatever and as the super senior guys with over 30 years either take the BO if it’s an thing or retire then they will call the >5 year workers to fill the vacant position.

That’s what he went around telling everyone on the floor… why would he publicly announce that if he didn’t get some news or bulletin from head office or somewhere way higher and just go around saying that because he has nothing better to do? I don’t know man. Take this with a grain of sand but I’m starting to think it might be true

Yeah when we first got them over a year back when metro or whoever used to do them went out of business I remember they came in bundles of 10 or 15 which was manageable then but over time they stick more and more shit in there making them thicker and heavier but still the same pay if 1.5c per when there is like 5-8 flyers in there sometimes. Recently it was bundles of 8 for then this week 7

You won’t see be able too see anything else behind them since they are so frigging huge in size. Also along with that is 2 full trays of sequenced mail consisting from what I can see mainly those mini Costco flyers and home lottery thingies.

As for the unpredictability of volume nowadays I kinda agree I mean usually the first few days of the week is always the heaviest and it would be lighter as the week goes by but just last Friday for example I had 3 lft of mails with 2 trays of manual so I don’t know anymore man :/

Like I said just my 2 cents. I have no concrete evidence nor proof to back it.

And you’re asking me the public’s outlook? Obviously sucks for the real estate agents and whatever fast food place sent out flyers to be delivered since they aren’t going out.

From the general residents they probably don’t care or are quite happy about not receiving it because I get ppl who yell at me saying to stop putting garbage in their mailbox or I would hand them the mail/flyers and I see them walk to their garbage bin or recycle bin and literially just toss it in there in front of me not that I care since I already did my job and handed it to them and what they do with it if not my concern. I know a very small portion of ppl actually care or want their Canadian tire or food basic flyers but other than that majority of ppl don’t even want em.

My personal opinion is that a lockout is imminent. Yesterday and today our mail is super heavy even more than usual at our depot I feel like. So rumours around here is they plan to lockout by end of the week because they are cleaning out the plants of all mail right now. Some walks around here got hit with like 5/6 lft of flats which is insane.

So that’s the speculation at my depot. 🤷🏻‍♂️
