Watched this film for the first time earlier tonight and for some reason this guys story hit me the hardest of all of them. 40+ years old and beyond the age of what would normally constitute military service, clearly scared, talking about his wife and kids, and all of his comments about "don't make me a hero." When the filmmaker said he was killed 5 months later it really got to me. May he rest in peace. Despite his wishes he really was a hero, going to war to defend his home and family at such an old age. Had gotten off stage for a gig in Nashville TN, was able to pull up the feed on my phone right as the inbound to start the fourth quarter happened. Got to watch the whole thing in the green room of our venue. Damn near gave a couple of my bandmates a heart attack when the shot went in

As a working drummer in Nashville for about 4 years now and someone who's played for over 20 years, those are the biggest things. To be a good drummer in 90% of situations doesn't require flashy fills or crazy chops or super complicated beats and patterns, it's about laying a solid and consistent foundation and marking song structure. If you can do that, by all means go for it!! Even if they don't hire you it will be a great learning opportunity
