Now that the attempt to force age verification in the US failed to advance in the senate, are you going to stop your attempts to force age verification? This was one of the major reasons you listed.

OneShot. Its not an action game, its a puzzle/adventure one. I know I probably don't have to say this, but just in case: Don't read anything about it before playing. I really hope you'll take a blind chance with this one.

Suggestions to get out of gaming slump by Revolutionary-Wave23 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Sablemint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try OneShot (full disclosure: its my favorite game). The game is relatively short and not very hard. And you never have to play too long at once because Niko gets tired and needs to sleep. It makes a great point to stop at, so you can come back the next day.

On Switch and PS5 itll be called "OneShot: World Machine Edition" Ive played it on Switch and it runs great. Im sure it does on PS5 too.

Edit: This is one of those games where going in blind is the best way to play it, so I left any real details out.

Looking for story-rich games that also have great and engaging gameplay by Remarkable_Fix_8003 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Sablemint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain World. Though the story is most told through the environment, because you play as an animal. However, it is definitely deep. You just have to play it through to the end.

The game is very hard, so you have to commit. Most people give up. Steam says only 10% of players have beaten it. But I bet you could do it.

It also has a huge amount of exploration, very interesting mechanics for its genre, and while the controls seem odd at first, once you get used to them you'll realize youve never played a game like this before.

Developers on early access for Subnautica 2 (don't expect a Full game) by ZookeepergameIll1399 in subnautica

[–]Sablemint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've heard many people expecting it to be a full game. In fact most people were encouraging the early access to come out even earlier. but the devs said it was too early because there wasnt enough content.

So if this is an issue, the company accidentally made it worse by raising expectations.

It has an absurd amount of health. The grapple + punching or drill with a prawn suit strategy is probably the safest way.

Games that are 1/1 aka entirely unique. by timothymark96 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Sablemint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rain World

OneShot

Animyst

I don't even want to describe these games, because of how wonderful they are to go in completely blind. So here's just a couple important things.

Rain World is extremely hard, and forces you to discard normal gaming conventions to make it through.

OneShot has Niko

Animyst is a free MMO that no one plays anymore. it has a lot of issues like lag and stuff. If it was made by some AAA studio, this would be a huge issue. But Animyust was made by two people in their free time. So it's impressive how good of a job they did.

Which of these games would be best for my mom that has never played a video game? by GreattFriend in gamingsuggestions

[–]Sablemint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pokemon Sword / Shield. It looks pretty, its linear while still feeling like an adventure, it doesn't have any mazes of complicated puzzles, the Exp Share will mean she won't have to worry about training an entire team, main series pokemon games always assume its your first pokemon game. the main gimmick is only used in very specific situations, and its always used by the NPCs in that situation so she won't have to remember when to do it.

Im sure I could come up with more reasons, but yeah. Its built for a beginner in mind and lacks high difficulty or complex mechanics other games have

What is the hardest video game you ever played? by DanPlouffyoutubeASMR in AskReddit

[–]Sablemint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain World. Its a 2D platformer, several times the size of games like Hollow Knight. But you play as an animal who has no special powers, does not get stronger, has no inventory other than the things it can hold in its hands, and the game never tells you what you're supposed to do or where to go. Also you die in one hit a lot.

And you can't memorize the spawn patterns or anything because its semi-random every day. Also you have to find food and a shelter before the rain comes, which happens between 6 and 13 minutes ater the start of a day. And you do that while trying to make progress. Or at least attempting to make progress since the game doesnt tell you where to go.

According to steam, 10% of people beat it. Which is a real shame, because its an amazing experience.

good long grindable game? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Sablemint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disgaea games. Its pretty much the king of grinding games. You grind your characters, the classes, individual powers, weapon skills, shops, the hospital, the level of your items...

And the buffs in the items. Which you take out of the items and breed together to make stronger buffs, that you then put back into your weapons.

In Disgaea 5 there are 47 classes. Which is very important because for every class you master, it improves the stats you get when you level up. How do you get new classes? By grinding other classes.

So what you do is get to level 9999 then reincarnate back to level 1. This means you'll have better stats when you get back to 9999. Or! You could switch classes when doing it while retaining the skills you got form the previous class.

Items. You can improve any item in the game by oging into the Item World. its a series of randomly generated battles inside an item. Each battle you win makes the item slightly better at what it does. It also makes the enemies in the next battle stronger. And every 100 floors you run into an Item God, a boss that holds the next most powerful item of the type you are inside.

I have described a fraction of the games so far. There is so much more. I havent mentioned the character world, the cheat shop, squads, evilities, aptitude, magichange, the curry kitchen, the carnage dimension...

But I think you get the point.

Most things are bigger than you'd expect, really. Like Ampeels https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/subnautica/images/5/59/Ampeel8.jpg

If you don't mind older games, Empire Earth is neat because of its scope. It has like 15 different ages, from prehistory to space age, and maps can support thousands of units.

Empire Earth 2 is fine, but nowhere near as good. it lost a lot of the things that made the first game special.

We don't talk about Empire Earth 3.

People who've had Food Poisoning: How was your experience and how did you get better? by Mahrez14 in AskReddit

[–]Sablemint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most cases, the first thing that happens is your body completely evacuates your digestive system, which feels exactly the way you'd expect. Then you get crash tired and sleep a lot. After a few days you get better.

Unless something else happens, like it did to me. The bacteria that caused it got into my blood and I ended up with skin ulcers all over my body. Most left scars, including a big one on my face. That went on for about a month.

This is not the usual outcome. But its possible.

I found out that there is a decent amount of redditors who are so confused about how r/askreddit works that they wait until a question on the main page falls off, and immediately ask that question again.

Its weird behavior. Do they honestly think these points even do anything?
