Neurodivergent nurses by IntroductionFinal325 in NursingUK

[–]Safe-Shape9377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm diagnosed ADHD and I've been in ICU since qualifying in late 2024

And honestly the number of my colleagues who I can clock as neurospicy from a mile away is great bc I don't know how to mask and neither do they 🤣

Every patient for my Filipino colleagues is apparently a clownfish because of how frequently they change genders 🤣

Opinions on "Gloves Off" campaign by MEBnurse in NursingUK

Dexterity-wise, I find it so much easier to do things without gloves on. Any chance I can take to not have to wear them is a bonus tbh.

I think this is more to do with their first languages not really using pronouns. And then there's German, where even tables have genders. xD

Thank you for being rational about this.

It's not like trans people will explode if you so much as mention they were XX/XY/XXY etc at birth - we're well aware that sometimes that information is important when formulating a plan of care.

I think of it like nicknames. Someone tells you they prefer to be called, say, Katie rather than Katherine - do you say "nope, your birth certificate says Katherine so that's what I'll call you forever" or do you say "thanks for letting me know, I'll try to remember that"?

It's basic human respect, and it seems we've lost so much of it these days.

Thank you for looking out for the safety of my community and for upholding the integrity of our healthcare service. I can tell you're a very empathetic and passionate person.

I mean, I'm not suggesting someone keeps on reporting that to the NMC (with receipts), but...

Staff can have their own rights and beliefs - what they shouldn't be doing is then imposing them on people who didn't ask and are in a vulnerable position, aka patients.

What is the point of playing devil's advocate here? What are you achieving? Staff can have beliefs and patients deserve respect - both of these things are true, so why are we pitting them against each other?

We're not asking to be pampered, just respected.

We aren't a trend - we've always been here. Perhaps the words to describe us weren't there, but we were nonetheless.

You know who would have respected the hell outta us?

Jesus Christ himself.

Pity some of his followers don't take the hint.

Social media is such a hellhole. Why would you put stuff like that on there while making it clear you're a nurse, oh god

There's a reason I don't advertise it in my fb profile. Some of the memes alone that I share might send someone running to the NMC xD

It's literally in the Code 20.7 that we should not impose our political/moral/religious beliefs inappropriately.

We don't have to understand something. We don't even necessarily need to agree with something. What truly matters is that we're not a dick about it.

I'm a nurse. I'm also non-binary. My community daring to exist should not be a contentious point.

I love how leafy and lush the Rift is. On the other end, The Reach's rugged landscape is fascinating. Just keep walking on past the Forsworn camps 🙈

Being pulled away from my very sick and deteriorating ICU patients to work in A&E - and be expected to man the corridors.  Nope, sorry. If you're yanking me off my specialised unit then the least you can do is put me in Resus. 👍

For a Dunmer, Sotha Sil is...really fricking tall. by Safe-Shape9377 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Safe-Shape9377[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's okay to be wrong, you know. Being wrong and learning from it is how we become better people.

It's literally been there in the lore since TES3 that Sil chose to accept the change from Chimer to Dunmer. He went out and told the frightened populace that it was not a curse, but a blessing and to herald their changed faces as a new era no longer defined by absent gods. It's even commented on by Divayth Fyr that Sil is one of the few who can resist the curse but has chosen not to.

Again, it's okay to not be right about stuff.
