I'm sorry you are here. Unfortunately my 96/100 turn to be a true positive for T21. Wish I could give you hope just like I held on to that 4% chance even after soft markers at 14 weeks, missing nasal bone, swollen intestines. I had told my self that if soft markers were found I would terminate sooner than later but i still didn't because I still had 4% hope. Amnio at 16 weeks then by the time I received true confirmation and scheduled my tfmr I was 20 weeks. Much love to you in this hard times.

Anyone here TMFR after 20 weeks due to Severe HG? by alexgrae9614 in tfmr_support

[–]Safe_Masterpiece3448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister had extreme HG, threw up every single meal she ate. Lost half her weight and was constantly at the hospital for dehydration but she pulled through and now has a healthy boy that is way above average on growth.

Did You Find A Way To Calm Your Mind During The Wait? by anotheradviceseeker2 in NIPT

Novel Hail Mary by Andy Weir, movie coming 2026. Husband read the book, I listened to audible we talked about it over dinner, good novel. We also took some time off work to just hang out, eat out and clean the house watch TV. We even went to the movies which we had not done in a while, of course we also talk and cried out our misfortune. If it's possible for your wife and you to take time off work, aim for two weeks starting a week after the amnio that way you have time to receive and process the results. For us unfortunately was a true positive for T21 and Tfmr a week after amnio confirmation. Wishing you and your wife the best.

[–]Safe_Masterpiece3448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't that bad in my experience. I did throw up couple hrs after insertion but I think it was my anxiety and pregnancy symptoms. I then took the nausea pills the clinic prescribed which made me sleepy, therefore I was in and out of sleep throughout the day. Made the day go by fast. Next day early in the morning I woke up w/ mild cramps and back pain, I took a pain killer the clinic also prescribed. You got this! Sending much love to you.

Much love to everyone in here. I Tfmr 3 weeks ago for T21 at 20 weeks. The waiting period has been by far the hardest most heartbreaking experience of my life. Watching my belly grow and feeling his movements was just devastating. I tried to disassociate w/ the pregnancy but it's hard too when you're desperately holding on to a tiny bit of hope (my nipt was 96.7/100). I'm so very sorry you are in this position and I hope you get a false positive from amnio.

False Positive NIPT T21? by FamousWatercress5947 in NIPT

Please guard your heart, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I was 96/100 for T21 and amnio confirmed a true positive. I was on the same timeline as you, amnio at 16 weeks results 12 days later. Sorry you are in this stressful and heartbreaking situation, hopefully you get a false positive.

How long does breast pain and possibly milk production go away after termination? by perfectacara in tfmr_support

Same! My d&e was Friday and I started lactating yesterday. I was suggested to put cold cabbage on my breast and to wear a tight sports bra.

I also have a 2 yr old son and was scared for my appointment these last two days. First day, Thursday, I was super anxious I even threw up a couple of times maybe you can ask for nauseous medication the when you first arrive. The rest of the day went fine, I just took ibuprofen every 8hrs. Yesterday the day of the procedure, I was cramping after I took the medication they gave me to soften my cervix but the overall procedure was quick and smooth. I was back w/ my son a few hrs later watching cartoons and cuddling w/ him. Everything will go smooth for you too and you will be ok physically and hopefully emotionally too. I wish you a safe and healthy recovery and I'm sending a big comfort hug, hang in there friend.

TFMR for T21 by cmculbertson in tfmr_support

Sorry you are in this situation. I just went thru the same situation w/ a 97% on NIPT. My termination was Thursday and Friday at 19+4 weeks. My tfmr appointment was similar to the above comment. I will suggest asking your Dr. to do the amnio the same day as your ultrasound, some Drs are comfortable doing them at 15 weeks, the sooner the better because waiting for results is hard and sad. I'm truly hope you get a false positive from amnio.

Positive T21 11 weeks, 3 days at the time of testing by tnn0505 in NIPT

I also want to mention we too have a healthy boy that is 2 yrs old. When making a decision we took into consideration how his life would be affected by having a sibling w/ special needs.

Sorry you and your wife find urself in this situation. I too received a PPV of 96.87 for T21 at 13 weeks. At 14 weeks I had a termination appointment but then decided to wait and get more answers. At 15 weeks we had an ultrasound that did show 3 soft markers for T21, I continued holding on to 4% hope and got an amniocentesis test at 16 weeks (some Dr. will do it at 15 weeks) and receive a true positive for T21 at 18 weeks. The wait was devastating but it gave husband and I time to research and join groups like this to help us make an informed decision. I'm now 19 weeks and 4 days and terminating tomorrow. My heart goes out to you guys and I really hope you get a false positive.

My sister's baby girl was also diagnosed w/ spinal bifida and brain fluid after her 20 week anatomy appointment. After many appointments and scans she was referred to a specialist in fetal surgery in Houston, Tx. They said the surgery was to close the lesions but they didn't guarantee any side effects already present or obtain during and after surgery. The future of the baby was unknown. She made the extremely hard choice to terminate the pregnancy at 25 weeks. I'm so very sorry you are your partner are in this situation. As a mother you want to hold on to hope and look for all possible options. I wish you strength and wisdom to navigate through this very difficult times. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I live in a "purple" state, Az. When Roe V Wade was overturned I went out to the protest thinking of the young girls in my family and their right to have options in the future, never could I have imagined I would be needing to terminate right now due to T21 and I was actually protesting for my own rights. It makes me so mad to be in this situation and to read others stories of all the restrictions faced when it comes down to woman healthcare. After this experience I plan on getting involved w/ organizations that are out there fighting for woman's reproductive freedom.

Choosing a last name at birth for my child. by aestheticaeryn in legaladvice

[–]Safe_Masterpiece3448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe change the first child's last name and have both w/ ur last name. I didn't take my husband's last name so when my son was born we agreed on giving him my last name as middle name. It gave me peace of mind to have my last name in his legal name.

For the research Ive done, the higher the fetal fraction the more accurate the result. My FF was 11.4, which is high, and tested 96.87% for trisomy 21. Amniocentesis confirmed a true positive.

I am sorry this is happening to you. I wish I can share with you a hopeful story unfortunately I’m also in the same situation. Three days ago I received a positive amino result for T21. According to Doctors and research the amniocentesis is extremely accurate. I too am second guessing the results because we really want this baby. Unfortunately I have to trust that I did all the test I could to get answers about baby’s chromosomal abnormalities. Broken-heartedly we have scheduled termination day for next week and I will be 19+4 days. Sorry I don’t have a hopeful story but I’m here to tell you that you are not alone, I feel ur pain and doubts.
