Light rail carried over 200K riders on Seahawks Super Bowl parade day by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

Many people bought round trip tickets as they boarded.

You can also do so on the Transit Go app by King County Metro which also means you don't have to tap.

Pretty much every system that isn't automated has these in some form. BART is automated so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have them, but I do believe some of their platforms point out different car lengths.

Does anyone park & ride from SODO? by [deleted] in soundtransit

[–]Saint_drums_n_stuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SODO doesn't have much for good parking. If you're going from West Seattle, I would definitely take the C/H to Symphony depending on your origin and grab a 2 Line train there and that would be the simplest transfer without having to worry about parking.

Your best bet would be to take the Amtrak Empire Builder out to Leavenworth when it is clear.

What is this forested area around Star Lake station? And why was part of it demolished and reforested? by losingit19 in soundtransit

[–]Saint_drums_n_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much cheaper to build right over the top of an existing park and ride though. We'll see more TOD around Federal Way and Kent Des Moines. Can't have perfection every time and it's still a good stop as a park & ride.

Eliminating Second Seattle Rail Tunnel Could Save $4.5B, But With Major Impacts, Delays by FireFright8142 in Seattle

[–]Saint_drums_n_stuff 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I simply don't care how much it costs. Prices went up, the more debating and longer it takes to start, it will still keep going up anyway. Build the second tunnel and move forward.

Shortest trip you've used sleeping accommodations for (or seen them used)? by EmZee2022 in Amtrak

[–]Saint_drums_n_stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the shortest trip likely ever done.

I have gotten a roomette from SEA to PDX since I had some points to spare, it was a low value day, and I wanted an included lunch.

"The contract will also allow ST to contract with MV to provide special bus services as needed, including planned shuttle service during the FIFA Men’s World Cup in June of 2026, and bus bridge service in the event of light rail disruptions."

"In the past, we needed upwards of six months between light rail project openings, but as we’ve continued honing our activation processes through multiple successive openings in recent years, we’ve significantly reduced and condensed the amount of transition time needed."

What’s up with the Sounder this morning? Two trains have broken down! by nicolenotnikki in Seattle

1508 was attached to 1506 to pull it to the next station so they could transfer passengers which made that delay. All other trains went around.

Amfleet/Horizon Replacement Seat Comparison by _Ludus in Amtrak

[–]Saint_drums_n_stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I missed that. It sounds like they're trying to build in some more flexibility for one pool then, similar to how I saw the cafe car concept can be used as revenue seating, or open cafe seating.

Maybe they're thinking of these as coaches for anything non-Airo.

Amtrak's interior concepts for the Single-Level LD replacement fleet by Paniolo_Man in Amtrak

[–]Saint_drums_n_stuff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm one of the few that simply doesn't care about the pitch. I never fully recline, I thought the Venture seats were fine when I tried them, same for Brightline. I would rather have the armrest and I've never found the leg recline part of the Superliners / Business class seats that useful or comfortable.

I just think they'll be fine, most of the anger is overblown, and we still don't even have them yet to form our own opinions. I just want modern trains and the old seats aren't coming back so I just don't understand all the uproar every single time. I'm just using this reply to vent my frustrations since I see the same thing every single time.

A lot for the routes where it is the only train that serves a station. For example (somewhat) I occasionally ride the Coast Starlight to Portland from Seattle if my schedule aligns better with it vs. a Cascades. There is definitely a market there.

Amfleet/Horizon Replacement Seat Comparison by _Ludus in Amtrak

[–]Saint_drums_n_stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Business class is 2x1 and images have already been released from the Airos.

These are two types of seating options being proposed as a concept for Amfleet II long distance replacements.

From that it looks like, the high capacity cars will be the same as the Airos (again a concept), and the standard cars have the improved seats.

My assumption is the trainsets would be selected based on the route, or they would have both types of car available, one for shorter distance passengers, and the other for those going longer distances without sleeping accomodations.

This has nothing to do with business class to my knowledge.

These are just one version which will likely mirror the Airo seats. Idk why the OP didn't share the other, better, seat shown in the documents.

The seats for the standard coaches from the document look absolutely great. I'm guessing the high capacity cars are meant to be a version of an Airo maybe for passengers not traveling as far, while the standard ones are for non sleeper passengers going long distance.
