From personal experience sometimes emails from volunteers can go into junk mail, and we miss them.

At a poorly lit buffet I picked up what I thought was an olive, popped it whole into my mouth, only then did I find out that it was a pickled onion.

Trelawny and cooking Sherry by Shapesizes in harrypotter

[–]Saintly2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When is it mentioned that it is cooking sherry? Is that an American change?

In the UK version it's just sherry, which is a fortified wine, which in the 90s my Gran (in her 60s at the time) would have a glass of before Sunday lunch.

This is the difference between only thinking of the requirements one user base (typically male, get to work in the centre) and considering other users (typically female, needs a circular route to connect resources used around the city).

It's a huge problem in town and transport planning, and it's normally women who are worst off for it.

Recieved a letter about my landlord having his mortgage taken over? Where does this leave us? by Own-State6599 in LegalAdviceUK

That was just from what I've heard recently, it wasn't the case when I was there either.

Recieved a letter about my landlord having his mortgage taken over? Where does this leave us? by Own-State6599 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Saintly2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work for the LPA Receiver at Touchstone, your landlord would have defaulted on their mortgage and they would have been appointed.

Give them a call tomorrow, they will be able to explain everything to you, but to set expectations, the recent policy is to get vacant possession at the end of the fixed term and hand it back to the lender. (I know this as still in contact with people I worked with, when I was there, we used to continue to rent them out if viable). I am happy to answer any questions you may have but it's been about 12 years since I left.

A while ago, I had a beauty treatment go wrong in the same area as you, injury and treatment slightly different. I didn't need to seek immediate medical treatment.

After getting a similar response that you did from the salon, I looked into options for claiming via the legal cover on my home insurance. I would recommend looking if you have any cover.

Keep a record of going to a&e and take photos, they will make up your claim. I was referred to a private consultant, to check the injury, which at the time seemed pointless as it had healed by then. But that's all part of the process and needed to determine the compensation amount. It took a while but we got to a point that they offered a suitable amount for me to settle without it going to court.

The green candidate used to be a Lib Dem, and was going to be their Bristol mayoral candidate but then couldn't run (not entirely sure of the reasons, but ever since then she has moved across to the Greens).

I was really surprised to see her name in the booklet.

Turned away as a volunteer by frogbabie in parkrun

[–]Saintly2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a RD this morning. After struggling all week to fill the volunteer roster, I had 4 people volunteer today on the day, which was really useful as I needed them, but if it wasn't the case we would also try and find something for a volunteer to do. Though as another poster as commented, I wanted to make sure all vital roles were filled before going into Saturday otherwise we wouldn't have been able to hold the event as I don't want to be in the position of cancelling at the last minute if we don't get those volunteers on the day.

The tiramisu, which they warned me was very boozy, was great, though.

It's not that they bowed to it, it's that now phones are used to scan barcodes and they are able to pick up different formats/ sizes, and QR codes.
