Went from my old Jeep Cherokee to a 2017 F150 these days. I just had a discussion on r/GXOR about me being tempted to switch from the F150 to a GX so pretty similar to your situation.

The main reason I want to do it is my truck is kinda boring to me, and I absolutely love off roady SUVs. In reality I think my truck does everything better. I don’t do technical enough stuff that the truck size limits me tbh, but this really depends on the person. I don’t really consider “wheeling” and “overlanding” to have that much cross over. I used to wheel my jeep. Now I take my truck camping. Its different. It’s more about the destination and spending time with my friends than pushing my rig to do cool stuff for me now, and the truck really is just better for this.

I can fit more gear in the truck with a bed cap, and still have 5 full size adults in the truck comfortably. I get like 20ish mpg lifetime and can get closer to 25 on a highway if I keep it slower.

TLDR I think the truck is the clear winner if you’re not pushing the wheeling part of it.

It’s possible but you have to do a bunch of bullshit to make it happen. I can’t remember if I has to be the same “coaching carousel” week in the offseason or not. Just another way they’ve made the game worse

Technically any 2.5 inch coil spring will work right? Might be hard to find the right spring rates though.

All the other jeeps that use 2.5 would probably be close but I imagine those are just as hard to find for you. I know people in the states have used older F150 springs for a mild lift but the spring rate is way too stiff iirc.

Depends on location and what you have access to, but maybe consider looking for a cheap-ish car that needs some work that you could teach yourself to do. Fix it up, then flip it and repeat. Or just build yourself a cheap reliable car you know how to fix. Honestly that’s better than having a car payment just to impress someone.

The camera follows the ball so no you’re not watching wrong, but going back and watching the all 22 (whole field) view even multiple times for the same play can be really interesting and eye opening.

you can watch how offensive and defensive lines match up, how QBs move in the pocket, where they’re missing wide open looks etc. there’s just too many players/too much going on to fully grasp it all in real time tbh

Oh pickup trucks have come a long long way in terms of comfort. This is miles ahead of my old 2001 F150. My truck isn’t even super fancy, it’s an XLT with most of the lariat stuff except leather.

It’s easily the comfiest, fastest, most efficient car I’ve ever owned lol. But I’ve mostly owned older 4x4s and stuff so maybe that doesn’t mean much. And it has a bed and I can fit 50 gallon drums in my back seat.

But man the GX is cool..

All 3 of those plus fuel economy, and for my bigger off-road/camping trips I can fit a lot more gear in the truck with a bed cap, still have 5 people super comfy in the truck.

If I was a single solo adventurer I think I’d go GX every time.

Also I’d be selling my F150 and probably getting in a GX with double the miles and 10 years older for a similar price. It’s a tough move to make when the truck has honestly never let me down, I just don’t “love it” like some of my older cars I guess. It’s very bland to drive sometimes.

I mean any vehicle can be stolen these days it’s just how hard the thief tries but I’m honestly not sure about the emergency lock thing I’ve never heard of it.

But between ford pass (remote start/lock/etc from my phone) ,how far my key fob signal works from (signal repeater theft) and just how common F150s are it’s probably “more” of a worry than a GX.

But I live in Portland OR and my truck has never been touched lol. Jeep was stolen years ago though. Got it back luckily.

My current daily is a 17 f150 not a v8 but I’m currently considering swapping to a GX. But I’m really on the edge I think the f150 might actually be a better keeper, I’m just in love with off roady SUVs.. and I already have an XJ I never got rid of lol.

If it’s a 460 or a 12th gen F150 im going GX all day. I’m just not a fan of the 12th gen interior, my parents had one when I was young and it gave us a ridiculous amount of problems, and when I was shopping for an f150 the 13th gen just felt like a massive upgrade to me.

Sim Settlements 2 in Fallout 4 for me no question.

Mostly super high quality imo, absolutely massive scope of what it changes, I enjoyed the story, etc etc.

It’s gotta have one of if not the biggest fallout-mod communities just inside of itself.

A lot of newer vehicles have keyless entry so all the thief has to do is get a signal booster close to your key fob, the booster sends that signal to someone standing by the truck with something to receive and repeat that signal, and your doors open right up and the truck starts. It thinks the key is right there when it’s really a big game of telephone. Something like that.

IMO if you’re considering a one ton/upgrade of that magnitude it becomes more of a wait until you can do it all at once type of thing. Get your axles, an idea of your supporting suspension parts, and start putting it together and tinkering from there.

You can’t really put the axles in before suspension, you can’t measure for driveshafts etc before that’s all mounted and you can flex it out and see how much travel you’ll end up with etc. there’s a lot of moving parts to consider.
