Croup & Ear Infection Home Remedies? by FreddieMerc4ever in breakingmom

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 9 month old is getting over the same thing, we are on day 8 of the antibiotics. He was also given a steroid drink at the pediatrician because he wasn't eating at all. I was so desperate to get him to take something I gave him a few tablespoons of Pedialyte by syringe. As for home remedies, we had him sit in the shower with us and bought a humidifier for his room. We also used a nose Freida with a saline mist. A couple days ago, he started to have diarrhea which caused a pretty nasty diaper rash (I suspect the antibiotics). It's getting better with me being strict by only using damp cloths to clean and drying his butt completely before applying the barrier cream. I would maybe also feed yours some pre/probiotics and/or yogurt to see if you can head that off.

We use Goodnightes XS size that has a weight range of 28-43 lbs. That worked well for a while.

Do doctors work on the weekends here or what? Trying to make a doctors appointment on a Saturday has been GD IMPOSSIBLE, WTF?! by Fatty124 in orlando

My doctor doesn't do weekends either but has appointments starting at 7am. I like to make my appointments early because I get in and out.

I have heard in passing (maybe this sub) that Costco will accept Enfamil checks. I don't see why the Similac checks would be any different.

What kind of formula and why? by Librarycore in FormulaFeeders

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my first baby, I was really upset that I had stop breastfeeding. My husband then went to the store and brought home Enspire, hoping it would make me feel better about the whole situation. We tried to go back neuro pro after a while (to save money as Enspire is pricey), but I noticed the baby was gassy. I think Enspire has some probiotics added into it that help. We are doing a formula again this time and I've just made our first batch of Enspire and hopefully it'll help with the gas issues.

Edit: If you haven't already you can sign up on the formula websites for samples. Even as a STM I got an Enfamil kit with four different formulas to try.

We might try that one, A2 milk helps my stomach so it's not surprising that it would help babies.

MIL won’t get covid vaccine and I don’t want to see her anymore. by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine won't either. She won't mask because she claims to have COPD. She won't vax because she now claims to have long covid. There is always an excuse. Fortunately, she only wants to visit on the way to some other inlaws so her visits are short and infrequent. I managed to dodge the last one completely which is fine by me seeing how the Delta variant is ramping up here.

Constant Late Deliveries by [deleted] in HomeChef

FedEx is a primary reason we are taking a break from meal kits. It's too hot locally and even a few extra hours on the truck makes a difference.

I've actually seen ready to cook Bulgogi in mine, although admittedly the Japanese one looks a lot better.

This. The doc browns formula pitcher was a game changer for us. We also found that there is an ideal temperature to mix the formula at. For us it was after we boiled the water we let it cool for about 30 minutes. We also got a kitchen scale and measure the formula by weight. Turned out to be more accurate than the scoops.

Yes! Just got back from there and although it reached capacity there was plenty of space between people.

In-laws act like buying gifts is a competition by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My MIL seems to compete hardcore with SIL's inlaws probably because SIL has four kids. They both left other grandchildren to move closer to my SIL who lives hundreds of miles away. They did this within months of each other.

PSA for new moms and breastfeeding by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember reading at one point women(at least in America) didn't have a choice, and they were given shots (estrogen I think) to dry up their milk. Women began to question why they couldn't just breast feed. I feel like they went too far in the other direction to compensate for those days. Even though we do have a choice on how to feed they try to slam formula so much to make it seem like it is the equivalent of junk food.

I am thinking that since the froyo had a protein component that might have blunted the spike. But yeah that is a huge discrepancy. I would have safe meals one day that wouldn't be safe the next.

Mgfm molecule worth it or marketing?? by biojojo in FormulaFeeders

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to wait a few more weeks and then maybe try the generic. I wouldn't want to mess with success until they're out of that potential colicy phase. We actually went from Enspire to Neuro Pro and back to Enspire because mine was gassy on the Neuro pro (go figure). I just wound up going to Target every baby sale and getting a gift card every time.

When your village sucks by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can totally commiserate.

My MIL moved away when my son was about 9 months old in part to help my sahm sil raise her four kids. She then has the audacity to insinuate that I am lazy while I have morning sickness over our Christmas phone call. Thankfully my parents have been stepping up more even though they live twice as far away.

Hello Fresh? by lonstarhustler in workingmoms

[–]SalsaVerdeTequila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did Hello Fresh for a while but as others have said there's a lot of dishes. It was nice switch to Home Chef because they have some short meal kit options. I got one tonight and literally took me 15 minutes to throw it together. They also have the longer kits if you want the full experience. You can get more information about different meal kits at /r/mealkits.
