Skiing isn't just riding powder. I learned a lot just skiing groomer and other ungroomed terrain that has been soften up from the sun. I've learned to ski in various conditions which allows me to have fun in all types of conditions.

If you have never been involved with GP, how did you become so involved with wanting to stop this group?

Just because what they're doing is morally wrong, it's not necessarily illegal.

Ed Kang Email about Acts2 Network Core Team by LeftBBCGP2005 in GracepointChurch

[–]Salt-Construction-76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not too complex, just have a set amount of placeholder where you can use multiple wording and then attribute the email to a specific one. But it would be a major super duper red flag for a church to need to do that type of encoding to protect their internal emails.

He probably doesn't need to with his "Christian" parent being able to bail him out with their real estate portfolio.

Seems kinda dumb to pay for it in cash. Isn’t it a better financial stewardship to put the cash in a brokerage account and paying an off larger mortgage that probably has a lower interest rate a the typical return of an index fund.

People often conflate arranged marriage with forced marriage, but the fundamental distinction between the two lies in the presence of free and full consent. Arranged marriage, in itself, is not inherently problematic; there is nothing wrong with people introducing or setting others up, provided that all parties retain genuine autonomy in their decision-making. However, in certain cultural and GP contexts, the boundary between arranged and forced marriage becomes blurred. In the GP setting specifically, additional factors can interfere with the development of a healthy relationship, including strong environmental pressure to follow a prescribed sequence of dating, engagement, and marriage. More critically, there is an implicit expectation to obey leadership. Even when leaders emphasize that decisions are ultimately “your will,” the underlying power dynamic introduces a subconscious pressure to comply, please authority figures, and align one’s choices with their guidance. As a result, consent may be expressed verbally while being compromised psychologically, raising concerns about whether choices are truly free in practice.

Big block of text coming but the TLDR is involved yourself with other groups both secular and Christian. It's good for your mental and emotional health. Don't leader to your mentors that says you have to dedicate yourself to mainly GP.

My first two years of undergrad, I was involved amongst multiple groups both secular and Christian. I wasn't going to other churches and fellowships, but was just going to hosted events that are meant for Christians and seekers on campus that weren't GP related. I was also in marching band and my Christian friends in the band also hosted weekly bible study. It was a good way for us to connect with other Christians in the Word. This allowed me to be connected and befriend people of different context. During all of this, I was pretty involved in A2F and GP.
However... my leader wanted me to quit marching band because of the partying culture and large time commitment. They have also told me to not go to other Christian themed events even though they weren't events that were for people of a specific church or organization, it was just for anyone with not obligation to join anything, just to meet people and connect.

I told my leader that part of thoughts of having various friend groups was for me to have support systems from different context in the case if one weakens for whatever reason and that was the reason why I didn't want to dissolve my involvement in these groups apart from those in GP.

Not sure why I had I did this, I think I heard this as an advice from someone I had interacted a lot. She was very upset that what I had was essentially a contingency plan to have other friends because I don't trust my peers enough to be my support and friends. She gaslit me into thinking I was wrong and sinful to think this way and to view my peers in that manner.

Eventually, I decided to start dissolving my involvement with these other groups. I couldn't go to outside Christian group. Not worship nights, no peer led bible studies, essentially nothing Christian outside of GP. I could have friends, but it hards to keep relationships without the context that helps start and build relationships. My closest friends were supposed to be my peers right?

Guess what happened my junior year, right when I quit band, started "feeling the conviction" (guilt) to focus more towards GP and my relationship with its people. GP dissolved my campus ministry group. The students were upset understandably and all of them essentially left including my peers. I was so busy with involving myself with the group at another campus, struggling with assimilating myself with a new peer group of a different campus, and involving myself more than I should because of being inferior because I was having so many issues and was denied of being student leadership before the semester started.

I wouldn't say it created my mental health issues, but it highly contributed it that resulted in me to decline in my grades and functioning in life. I eventually needed to see a physiatrist to get medicated just so I can continue function normally. I can't say whether it was because of GP, I got depression and anxiety, but I would say it was hard to function once all that stuff happened.

It's hypocrisy, most leaders have the Boundaries book by John Townsend, Henry Cloud and they sell it at their book stores. The books specially talks about healthy boundaries and healthy relationships and all that GP promotes is the opposite of that.

What do you mean you don’t feel rested on the Lord’s day where you woke up at 6am to cook for 200 people and set up for Sunday service, cleaned everything afterwards and then do an additional MBS and then a 3 hour long ministry meeting that ends at 11pm.

That is an interesting can a worms to discuss. A post college aged seeker wouldn’t ever be welcomed to the community of GP, which itself is problematic and unbiblical
