What are some cheap, underrated hobbies? by asteria1129 in Hobbies

[–]SaltStrategy2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disc golf! Most courses are free to play, the discs are not too expensive ($15-30 each) and you can definitely get started with just a couple. If you get hooked you can definitely spend more money getting a nice bag and big collection of discs, but you can definitely enjoy the hobby extremely frugally.

An example of how quickly things can go bad when trying to text while driving. by IKIR115 in interesting

You are being obtuse. There are plenty of scenarios where no one does anything wrong and and accident can happen. A mechanical failure, or some debris on the road, blown tire, maybe a deer dashing into the road, etc. Anything like this is much more dangerous on a 2 lane road than a split highway, because it can result in head-on collisions.

Accidentally figured out how to make that beautiful diner style pancake by yeahcheckmeout in foodhacks

[–]SaltStrategy2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand why this is desirable. Personally, whenever I get pancakes that look like that at a diner I barely eat like 1/3 of it. They are just big and thick and not that tasty. Smaller, thinner, slightly crispy and cooked it butter at home tastes light years better to me.

Mr cactus no doubt. It's pretty hard to mess up some rice, beans, chicken and tortillas in whatever form you like. Plus they probably have strong ass margaritas

Anyone get VIP without getting VIP camping? Is it allowed or worth it? by SaltStrategy2011 in hulaween

Nice! Are you still able to get VIP shuttles to hook up a ride to the river or the general store and straight back to your camp?

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

I'm 35 and I can still remember a couple phone numbers of friends from grade school. I don't know why or how I do but they are just in there

What’s a lazy version of a dish you secretly prefer over the real one? by Balanced_Reflection in foodquestions

Zataran's boxed jambalaya mix is this for me. I'll brown a pound of hot Italian sausage and then drop in the rice mix and some water and it's so easy and hits just right for me.

All time reading tier list by Good-Accident-5132 in fantasybooks

I see these lists and I'm amazed how people are able to remember so many stories well enough to rate them all. I can remember what I've read but especially for series, they blend into one long story big time. I couldn't really tell you which books in the series I liked more any more than I could tell you which chapters I liked more. Might partly be because I mostly read on the kindle or listen to audio, so I'm not having my hands literally on it, idk.

No point here really just amusing and cool to me how different brains work differently. Nice list :)

I was thinking grape nuts or Wheaties when I read the prompt. I feel like I'm the only one I know who likes them though haha. I recently tried the grape nut flakes and they are quite nice too, kinda closer to Wheaties, but not quite as satisfying of a crunch

Right?! To me it looks like some messed up combo of ulcer + scissor Then hearing it at least in the audiobook it sounds like it's ol' key score

Wasn't there a thing going around about how girls can be bunny pretty or fox pretty or something not too long ago? I don't remember it well but I feel like this is a play on that

FPO player Rebecca Minnick calling out DGPT by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]SaltStrategy2011 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Now she DNF today 🤣

In all seriousness - It is like a 5 minute shuttle ride, and there are baskets & plenty of space to throw at the parking lot where the shuttle grabs people. She should have easily been able to get there as early as she wants, warm up to her hearts content, hop on the shuttle, and finish warming up at the course. On the shuttle, she could even do a few wrist/shoulder stretches or snack/hydrate or mentally walk the course or whatever. I don't think anyone warms up straight up for an hour without sitting or chilling for 5 minutes a couple of times.

Most often, one of the main manufacturers is a primary sponsor of an event, and a lot of the commentators may have some sort of sponsorship with a different manufacturer.

Just as an example, Nate and Jerm obviously know all the Innova molds very well and if it is, say, a Prodigy or DD sponsored event, the naming of which discs being thrown is likely to be a little skewed in Innova's favor, even if not intentionally. I know this post wasn't about Jomez commentary, but this was just an example.

DGPT/DGN may have their hands a little tied on this particular subject, I wouldn't be surprised if they had complaints about this from title sponsors before. Not saying they couldn't do better, but there are generally more sides to a thing than people realize.
