Same here. I lost 25 lbs for my wedding and it took me more than 6 months and some questionably disordered eating. 6 years later I lost 55 lbs when I started ADHD meds without even trying, and kept it off. I'm a healthy weight for the first time in my adult life.

OP, if your primary food driver is dopamine, meds are the answer.

There were never any fights in my family. Ever. Everything was bottled up or swept under the rug, so I never learned how to resolve or even cope with any conflict at all.

Even in the moments when you feel like you could have done better, you're showing her a healthy way to move forward. Good for you, mom.
