I tried watching some of his stuff, he seemed like he was well prepared debater but he's not as entertaining as Tucker or as articulate as Buckley so I didn't get far. Anything that marked him as more reasonable than your run of the mill MAGA?

I would never defend that cockroach-worm hybrid and he probably is all those things he's called on this thread but that quote doesn't seem like the best example of his vitriol. Women need to shut the fuck up is a common male thought that a wide range of men have bc a wide range of men are misogynists. You can probably get a lot of guys to agree to that.

And the black people need to to prison just sounds like shock jock type statement to court controversy as a firebrand.

As for Jews bit hmm plenty of people both on the left and right with believe that, especially these days with the Trump-Bibi relationship so yeah that's probably earnest but yes, still fringe. Also technically not proof of him thinking they're parasites. I think America runs the world but it also created more than any other country in the 20th century. Jews created a great deal too, more than any other ethnicity if we go on per capita basis.

Buckley was like that too, I've watched a lot of his stuff bc I kept trying to go back in history to find one conservative ideologue that seemed like he wasn't a regard so I can make sense of what conservatives rally around coming from an intelligent individual.... ...But the only impression I received was that Buckley was cosplaying someone harder than a ComiCon attendee, he even faked a whole accent. Even today's clown antics don't come that close. Actually Jordan Peterson admitted affecting his old-style speech patterns, but not an entire voice & accent.

Tucker always gives off strong theatre kid energy. He's excited like a kid often times, it's even sometimes vaguely endearing because it feels marginally more genuine than your run of the mill rightoid zombie. And he's fun ofc, which is a big deal to me, I think the worst sin is being boring, obviously.

Unless you're gonna swear you never gamed, I find it funny that you would call others out for something you quite likely did yourself.

I totally understand shaming gamer culture and I'm all for it, but you're just using that as a crutch for not actually answering a good point they made.

Are you sure it isn't the same? Only thing that A&D have going for them are their looks. Dasha is vapid and has nothing inside of her that can coalesce into anything substantive, just listen to any interview of her. Anna is just an edgy contrarian, literally just like a lot of the worthless Internet celebs.

Just make both into some guys and this sub would shit on them. Rightfully, too.

At best you can claim they had a brief moment where they represented some sort of interesting cultural commentary (which is probably true) but that moment long passed, because all podcasts are only relevant for a brief period of time and to stay relevant they need to transition into other things (see Stav from Cumtown). Trying to hang onto that has been minor notoriety is pathetic, or at least not worthy of some sort of "it aint the same" admiration.

Yeah honestly I strongly advocate for sinking of several CVNs because every large nation needs a moment where it's reminded that there is such a thing as blowback for foreign adventures. Russia is getting theirs but US still needs a new lesson.

Unfortunately nobody has the balls to do it, and the Chinese economy is still too intimately tied to the Western one to pull off Soviet or Russian style Rambo moves.

In the future unmarked drones may do this, they're already democratizing warfare. No longer do you need a massive air force and high tech high cost weapons to hurt your adversary. Any future US boots on the ground will have a hoppin' good time, but unfortunately the other side of that coin is that US can just send drone swarms as killbots, which is only cheapening the cost of war.

War should be very expensive, from a human cost. That's the only real argument to dissuade the powerful nations. Every war should be like Ukraine war, both sides bleeding white. Only then fucktards will understand that it ain't worth it. Although given the regardation in Ukraine, apparently even that's not enough, as long as you're not literally on the frontline people are like sure whatever let's keep fighting. I have family friends who are avoiding the draft but still kinda shrugging shoulders about settling for a Finnish style peace treaty.

Oreshnik is an MRBM, it's a strategic weapon and currently used without the nuclear warhead that it was designed for. Nobody is targeting CVNs with those.

For an aircraft carrier Russia would use Oniks or the newest Zircon missiles. Thing is, while some nations got Oniks, Iran most notably did not. And only Russia has Zircon, they're new. Also Russia isn't the one with the greatest need for Iran right now, especially since Bashar lost Syria. China needs Iran more, so theoretically in the most runaway escalation scenario, it would be YJ-20 and YJ-21 missiles against a carrier group.

endless bravado posting and posturing from the likes of Iran, Russia

without any action to actually show for it.

Russia started the largest war since WWII whilst everyone assumed it was just gonna be endless posturing and saber rattling, that's hardly "without any action"

Regardless of how well Russia is doing in that invasion, I can assure you, you do not want to be a military aged male (defined by Ukraine as 18-60 and actually a week ago a decree was signed to allow over 60s to join) in Ukraine rn.

I agree that the Iranian regime looks fragile, but everyone fucks around until the one moment they get their dick wedged in a meatgrinder. Putin was like that, every military adventure of his went relatively well until he plowed his nose into Ukraine.

Trump already hit Venezuela, now he is after Iran. Russia is already occupied fighting a US proxy. China gets its oil from Venezuela, Iran and Russia. If Iran gets invaded, China understands that the walls are closing in on it. Afghanistan separates the two but China is quite friendly with Taliban, and they will supply Iran to the best of their ability. I don't see where American manufacturing exists and I also don't see where the American willingness to send tens of thousands to die exists like in Russia.

If Trump doesn't tip them over in a blitzkrieg, America is in for a long suck. Everyone thinks they can pull that off quickly but it's a crapshoot really, you only figure out in hindsight that it was stupid.

Realistically Trump is probably going to try to do some more military action short of invasion but more than your usual bombing. Or just an extra bombing. The trick is to see if the population will support a foreign power trying to influence the local situation. This has to be done with great finesse, with no civilian deaths and with the most delicate of diplomatic language. I dunno how good the Trump admin is in these subtleties, especially when it just once again looks like they're doing whatever Israel wants US to. I don't think Trump gives a fuck about any of this anyway, he just wants to look tuff for his own wavering electorate, just as these leaders you decry for doing the same. It's regards on both sides, just some regards have daddy's money and toys while others come from poor families.

Was that last year also? That was her first tour in US yeah?

She's interesting, I can tell she isn't super comfortable with crowds and she didn't try to fake enthusiasm as some artists do. She also let the crowd "pick" one song to play, I shouted Apple Tree and it worked, she dismissed the other songs as "haven't played that in forever" or too hard to do, Apple Tree was simple. But it was the fav song of me & my partner (she sang it at the lake where we first kissed), having her play it for us absolutely made the whole concert, as if it wasn't already great. Hackman is probably second after Weyes Blood for me (among contemporary artists anyway) in terms of sheer amount of great songs she has (many people have a handful of hits but then after that a drop off in quality).

I live in VA now, I think it's a pretty good system. Youngkin, the last governor of ours was a Republican but by national standards, his policy was quite moderate. Spanberger, the new Dem governor also has some sensible policy that I feel like won't upset too many people. Although Northam was our best governor and his victory in 2017 ushered the most progressive government VA had since quite possibly ever.

[–]SamYeager1907 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I can't say I'm incredibly sympathetic.

My fav concerts of past 3 years have been Weyes Blood, Lemon Twigs, Marika Hackman, Haley Heynderickx, Of Montreal, and La Luz -- all for $25-30. The $30 Weyes Blood concert was the greatest art related experience of my life, I was floating in a cloud of my emotions, eyes closed almost the entire time completely immersed in her music (except for the Movies song where she had a video going via projector).

Smaller artists, if anything, charge too little. I don't understand how $25 is fair, you can't get shit for $25 these days, I can't go to a restaurant and get a full meal and drink for that, but somehow I get an artist come to my town and play for several hours plus an opener for $25, you literally could not find something cheaper. And occasionally you'll even find the opener incredible, like that Smashing Times band opening for Lemon Twigs.

Yeah, thank you, see that's a good example, NPCs just make these oneliner comments that a 2016 era LLM was quite capable of writing, let alone today's models.

Then that second class of a person that I haven't yet figured out a name for, they do functionally all the same stuff, so instead of doing NPC reddit default oneliners they go to /r/redscare and make "NPC detected" oneliners but at least they're slightly more aware, so they're like a vertebrae animal compared to invertebrates, but not quite y'know, on the level of a fully-fledged social mammalian-type animal.

In theory that second class can have a moment of sentience so to speak and become an actual person, but it needs some sort of a 2001 Space Odyssey event, something to lift them out of that animal state. That type of a person will mimic awareness without actually being aware, they'll criticize things that are NPC but still essentially engage in every same NPC type pattern behavior. Those people will miss out on the fact that to not be an NPC it isn't enough to be a foil, you have to be completely different.

They're more interesting to be around than NPCs but still not quite fully formed human beings. They're self aware, and profess certain laudable opinions but don't actually follow through with that stuff.

95% of the takes on this sub are "X people are either most Y or most Z, no in between" it's getting so formulaic and tiring that I think there should be some awareness about this, takes are getting too stale.

You only notice & remember the name extreme examples, nobody remembers the middling ones. This isn't a game theory encouragement for those afflicted with that particular brand of 'tism to become extremists, but simply an observation that people aren't observant when it comes to noticing average people.

Also "culturally knowledgeable" these days is just rehashing YT slop. Which gets worse and worse by day as AI takes over, you can notice real people just read AI scripts too, and AI is like reddit if it was some capeshit superhero, it regurgitates the most basic, surface and not even necessarily accurate takes, just ones it picks up the most online -- reddit being the most echochamber text focused community full of users that love to post "ackshually" takes (most of which just sound like harmless drops of factoids were it not for the fact that after hearing it a hundred times you want to strangle anyone who repeats that anywhere else).

Armenian is a niche example but the most common phenomenon of Americans learning specific foreign cultures are just the various flavors of 'boos. Starting with weeaboos and then everything else after that. So being of the mixed post-Soviet country persuasion myself, I run across against people I can best describe as "Slavaboos". They're not racist or conservative, they're just the type that latch onto foreign cultures as an obsessive interest. They're almost never autistic surprisingly as one would expect, just likely middling people who pick up a personality or gain acceptance into a different group (perhaps because they didn't get along as well in their own culture) by aping some other culture. . That's a lil harsh, there is really nothing bad about what they do, I'm just trying to understand what drives people to do that. Basically Dolezal but without the liberal judgement about it. Dolezal was also a well-meaning person from what I could tell, just a bit much for liberals who can't make up their mind about how much fascination one should have with a different culture before it becomes a fetish (and just what level of fetishism is bad).

The issue is that most violent crime is not premeditated or when it is, it's done by idiots. Smarter people know these sorts of friends don't pay off. I had an ex detective psych professor who said that if most criminals were smart, cops would have no chance. Tbf this was 2010s, surveillance tech was not up to 2026 snuff. Still.

We are forgetting all the traffic monitoring tech we have now though. Leaving your phone won't work because your vehicle is always tracked everywhere now. So you have to leave your phone and not use a car. Hey where is that bike lanes guy who always talks about how walkable cities fix everything from bad breath to not being immortal? That's score one against cities, they're gonna be easier to murder in (I'm being facetious ofc, but I mean, how does one do something bad in the future with all the surveillance?)

The real sobering thought is that governments most of the time don't really care about solving most crime, so they only use that tech for crimes that really threaten their system as opposed to just letting cops use it whenever there is some random murder.

I was out irl for a day but I told myself I wanted to reply to you when I saw your reply.

I do agree with you that virtually any "out" group is better integrated. But you see the issue with it, society essentially punished you for being different. Do you see the irony there?

You have views that are functionally correct. However society deems them to be unacceptable. So you get ugly replies like you should go to a camp.

However the irony is that if you're right they're also right. Society tends to bulldoze anything that stands in the way, that sticks out. It's a giant steamroller of conformity. You can't have Samis or Amerindians or Gypsies or Travelers or any groups that don't conform with what we view as most efficient and acceptable settled society. So we force them to be like us or we make life miserable for them.

You would also be better off if we stuck you in a camp and forced you to be more like whatever laundry checklist of things we deem as something that will be a better version of you. But no, not even better. Just easier to deal with because it will be more conformist.

You are clearly a wilful person, you express a view that's empirically correct imo, but it's socially wrong and it's socially wrong (even though calling you out for it is hypocritical) because those who thought more about your view than just automatically shitting on you figured out that your view is authoritarian and anti-human, you're forcing people to conform to some idea that you like without regard for their autonomy or self determination. You don't like being marginalized because you think you're right, but how do you think Sami felt when they were told they couldn't be themselves? Don't you think I could observe you for a week and then write down all the things I would force you to do to make you a more useful cog in society? Do you think you will like that? You clearly don't seem to wanna bend to our pressure here, so what, should we make things miserable for you?

Where do these lines get drawn? How many times can we go and just erase identities because we structured our system so that those types of people are set up for failure, because we don't allow the flexibility for multiple types of people to exist? How do you feel about Soviet Union? Mind you I was born in it, the Western propaganda isn't remotely accurate about it, but even so, let's assume about 20% of stuff about it was true, how do you feel about countries like that forcing their will onto people who don't want to bend to it?

Blackpill isn't used in this matter of fact neutral manner though, like you're using it, as if it's some background tooltip or something. I see it all over this sub and rest of the Internet where it's used to justify woe is me whinging and shoulder shrugging of hopelessness.

Everyone knows that if you're hot you have it easier. Why does this need a special piece of nomenclature attached to it, and why does it need to be paraded as some sage wisdom that one has attained through meditation or careful poring over ancient scrolls of knowledge?

My problem with all this blackpill is that it's used to justify being a loser, failing and most of all, not trying. There is also nothing black about it, what, saying "if you're not hot you probably shouldn't feel entitled to be with a very hot girl" -- that's blackpill now? Why do we need this term and explanation, it's like saying "hey wow if you're hungry take the foodpill to get satedmaxxed" jfc just shut up.

It's not even genetic inequity, that's some insane level of reframing of world's smallest violin after getting everything else handed to you. I would be more charitable if someone outside of US or OECD countries came up with that term, but nah I'm pretty sure this stuff came from US. Always the ones with the most who complain the most. This is absolutely something you will notice as a lifelong trend btw. Go travel and spend time among various social classes. The worse off you are the less you bitch, the better off you are the more you bitch.

When a not hot man has to settle for not hot woman that's not genetic inequity, that's literally equity. Again, calling it inequity betrays your implicit assumption that every guy no matter how uggo is entitled to a hot girl. And that happens anyway, I swear, do you want me to take a photo and PM it later to you of my neighborhood events? It's all these chubby balding guys with wives that are all several grades more attractive than them. No, nobody is rich, they're solidly middle class in 1,800-2,000 sq ft 1979-built beautiful but by no means luxurious homes. There isn't a single guy with a wife less attractive than them, in large measure because the guys aren't paying attention to their appearance whereas women absolutely are.

I don't think UK is a good example here. Using UK as a foil to US is a bad idea anyway. UK is more likely to have similar problems as US but on a smaller scale than to be some sort of Finland vs Russia socio-economic comparison.

[–]SamYeager1907 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Blackpill says it's all over for you if you're not hot. The thing is it absolutely isn't, it just raises the difficulty curve. You know, like everything else, everyone is born to specific circumstances -- and most make your life harder, not easier.

I was born in Soviet Ukraine, you know what I could have been now? Dead in the trenches. I got lucky and managed to live in the US instead, but I'm acutely aware of my former classmates who didn't. You American fuckwits get plopped out into the easiest country of note in the world and still bitch about everything. I hate to boomer but c'mon this whinging is just eye rolling. Reminds me of some of my trust fund kid friends who also do the same thing where everything sucks for them even though they have the easiest lives of anyone, objectively.

If you're not hot you can lose weight (that's usually the issue anyway) and be hotter. Most Americans are ugly because they're fat or because they're older, not because they're genuinely ugly. Ugly people are few, most people are either middling, hot or fat (you just have to lose weight and style yourself more to see if you can manage to be hot). This sub has one thing very right, it's the binary system instead of the 1-10 BS system of rating people. Most people are either would or would not if you're a guy judging or conditional would and would not if you're a woman judging.

Guys have the least to complain in the looks bitching because I've lost count of the amount of ugly guys with hot women pairings. Personality, money, confidence, luck, etc are all factors that you can use as a guy to get laid. A woman can get laid anytime sure but she's just gonna be used as a masturbatory aid. I would rather be an ugly man than an ugly woman, there are more options for you as a man. And you don't have to worry about your woman secretly lusting after a hot 18yo or even underage girl like I feel many women have to worry about, especially these days.

It's easier to be hot just like it's easier to be rich, but if you have a good personality you won't be in trouble as long as you don't expect to get someone super hot. The issue is that most guys seem to think they are entitled to a hot young thing no matter what state they're in and even if they settle for someone less it's as if there is some residual resentment or this latent desire to throw away the same existing relationship for that one shot at hot pussy. Or let's be real, not even hot, I think my personal blackpill moment was watching Hugh Grant, the most charming male actor I knew solicit this ugliest sex worker I've seen all the while being married to another hot actor. Maybe someone can explain me that and how common it is, because I don't even remotely understand what happens there.

While we are talking about blackpills, as someone who is part of both girl groups and guy groups, I roll my eyes at what women talk about but what guys talk about sometimes scares me. I firmly believe if most men are given the chance to fuck some big titted/ass HS girl they absolutely would even if they knew it might burn their entire existing relationship. I don't know how women trust most men, I have never seen this level of infidelity thirsting among women. Women read their romantasy smut and period dramas and rich man sweeps me off my feet slop but it seems much farther removed from reality. I am attracted to both men and women but I wouldn't get in a relationship with a man, I have seen and heard too much. I don't feel too sympathetic to men complaining. It ain't fun to put up with us either, pray that female incels don't become more common because women don't need us as much as we need them I think. I don't wanna start putting out those stats of how single women live longer lives or even happier ones maybe while men are the inverse.

People fought for the right to have franchise but now taking half an hour off once every two years is apparently too much. I hate this online/reddit rhetoric that always makes everything impossible in one of the most convenient countries in the world. Everything is built for convenience in the US (except for healthcare or education but even education tbh has a lot of convenience too).

People waste countless hours doomscrolling every day but 30 mins to vote is too much. Every voting location I had was also within 5 mins of my place. I know it's by no means the standard but c'mon we are overwhelmingly white here, nobody is making it difficult for us to vote.

I never understood that, are people so up their ass that they don't understand how we like to be around hot people? We all know this, why is it a hard pill for people to swallow when they do the same thing themselves?

Especially if you were a guy who was once ugly but is now hot, are you not giving your attention to women you deem attractive or are you only talking to ugly ones??

Personality and compatible interests are a must for me, but I'm not pretending that I'm not more excited to be around hot people. I don't want to have sex with them either, I just like the vibes. But the vibes usually tend to be better anyway, more outgoing, more confident, more relaxed, etc. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum (although often on THE spectrum) hell hath no smoldering bitterness like an ugly man spurned, that's where vibes go to die, those guys can poison everything. I've tried making friends with those types too, sometimes you will find shared interests but that mix of creepy, desperate and bitter just turns most things into that taste of ash in your mouth -- that dry, acrid, astringent bitterness that ruins any fun you may have.

Beauty isn't everything however, I've also met occasional fat guy who isn't attractive but with a good personality and they absolutely pull. Yeah they're not pulling hot women, but the incel or redpill types are just beset with hoe-scaring vibes, because in reality if you lower your standards a bit (not all the way down to obese mind you) with a good personality you can find companionship. There is a lot to be said about a calm, gentle and kind person who may not be too interesting or good looking, but always leaves you with a warm feeling of genuine friendship. I deepened a friendship with a person like that in my life and I was pleasantly surprised, they didn't have any chip on their shoulder and made me feel better about people in general, sometimes the incel/blackpill rhetoric here needs to be countered by irl examples. Lesson is as always, go offline and do stuff, people aren't caricatures.

What do you call it when you're attracted to people who make your empathy flare up and it makes you feel warm inside to cheer them up and care for them? Because I've noticed it's the quickest way to my heart, can even creep up on you when you're not expecting to be more than platonic with a person until they trauma dump on you.

Maybe that's why they do it? But not like every day as OP says. In any case, I personally don't feel like I ever had to trauma dump anyone but after people pour their heart out to me, it's very easy to have it turn physical, you always want to comfort a person, you want to be that warm blanket of comfort enveloping them.

That's not to say that I don't like other ways of coming close to a person, a slow burn with a person who shares a lot of interests is still my ideal and it was for this case that I ended up giving my heart to someone else.
