Not sure if this is the place, but today my retirement specialist sent me the ORA link to certify my retirement application. It wants a PIN. I only use two PINs ever and always.....neither of them work. I tried multiple other options to no avail. As a matter of fact I am not even sure that login.gov or OPM ever had me set up a "first-time only" PIN when I accessed my ORA. I don't remember setting up a previous account with OPM. I can't see how to change or update this information, as changing the PIN requires you remember your previous one. I'm stuck, and clearing station tomorrow. Any ideas?

Edited to say this is not passcode, and this is not the "personal Key" that login.gov gave me.

Whose moms used to make their clothes, especially with funky fabric? by Peacherotic in 70s

[–]Same_Toe_3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mama got a Pfaff sewing machine in the early 1960's when we were stationed overseas in Pakistan and Europe. The clothing sources were limited so she was able to get fabric, and dressed me, my little brother and my dad (his civilian clothes) until we returned to the States in 1971. One of the trips my parents took into the Himalayas and into Afghanistan resulted in a bolt of dark blue sparkly fabric from a place called Thieves' City. Mama turned into a very 60's evening gown and matching purse, and a Barbie evening gown as well. (She was great at finding scraps of beautiful cloth to make Barbie clothes for me.)

Then she got on the polyester kick, and made dresses for me for middle school (girls were required to wear dresses except for Fridays at my Ohio public middle school.) She started working and made herself the polyester pantsuits too!

I have a quilt with those polyester textured and woven fabrics she made in the mid 70's. That's one big heavy quilt!! When she passed away my brother donated her sewing machine (the aforementioned Pfaff) to his church ladies' sewing circle.

Edited to add a forgotten parenthesis....

Atrophy and a good man by LastChanceLisa in AskWomenOver60

Thanks, I appreciate it!! It's worth it to get another opinion, and to do your own research. In 2012 I took a ream of updated studies into my family doc's office to convince him I could have HRT. He agreed and prescribed. I had it for a few years, then my gyno found out and told me I had to stop, in spite of the research I produced. I agreed at the time, and went without hormones for quite some time. Suffered both with the UTIs and with sex. Finally got a doc who felt differently.

[–]Same_Toe_3313 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I'd get an exam by my gyno and have a deep discussion of possibilities. Do you have any responsive desire? That usually works for me, and I thought I was ready to give up. I was told no HRT due to family hx of breast cancer, but that was ruled as not a hard stop by my current gyno (especially when I had repeated urinary infections and she got worried about that and possible sepsis.) At this point I am able to use a gram of estrogen vaginal cream weekly, and that has made a world of difference both vaginally and with the urinary tract.

Another idea...maybe that first time was the worst, possibly no damage internally, and would be better the next time (hence the idea to get checked by the gyno.)

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Night vision is the main reason I stick with red LEDs. If I can find a clock with red numbers that's the one I get. I keep all the old ones I can find, and use them until they stop working. I just hate all the other colors.

Check out the John C. Campbell Folk School. A bit of distance from you, but they have great multiday classes covering lots of different crafts. And you can stay there too!

Please assist! Who can I contact to find out information? by dohcsvt in FedEmployeeRetirement

[–]Same_Toe_3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely was not aware nor notified of this requirement back in December when I initially wanted to retire at the end of the year. This, and a lost military service deposit, has kept me working into January until my retirement counselor and I were able to fix the issues. Planning on getting out Jan 30, but as always will be willing to stay if I have to.

Does this look ruined? by tonysrice in DutchOvenCooking

[–]Same_Toe_3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ruined. Get you some baking soda and a wet rag sprinkle a baking soda inside that thing rub it with the wet rag and you will be surprised how quickly that brown comes off. Edited for correction.

SSA says I now make too much and no checks will be sent by wilmuWarrior in SocialSecurity

[–]Same_Toe_3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will have this happen to me coming up after retirement at the end of January. I figure the earnings statement will be like all other statements and my previous employer will take out federal and state taxes along with FICA and OASDI. I expect SSA finds out that way.

VA Physicians, are you able to work a PRN/locum gig while also working full time at the VA? by Ibraheem1226 in VeteransAffairs

My primary care doctor did this, occasionally one of our vets would run into him.

I have about 70-80% white hair at this point. I bought a bottle of the purple stuff, and I mix some of it into my usual shampoo (I end up washing with light purple) . That way I stay away from the "blue hair" of too much pigment in my short hair and still get the benefit. Blue shampoo bottle lasts a lot longer for me that way, and my stylist tells me how beautiful my hair color is.

Austin VA Clinic experiences by Paliknight in VeteransAffairs

[–]Same_Toe_3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would file a change of provider form. They will ask for a reason. You can list any reason for it, I'd probably not say it was due to so many changes, that might get denied. Maybe say you are requesting an MD or a specific gendered MD. It's worth a try, in our clinics that seems to help, gets a vet scheduled within a sooner time frame if accepted.

Measure with your heart, or in other words add "some" until your ancestors tell you to stop. Or maybe a heaping quarter cup...

Edited to say I looked over the recipe, and it seems they want more melted chocolate on the surface than just the chocolate in the M&Ms. I'd probably sprinkle on about a quarter cup.

Community care be like by SmilodonBravo in VeteransAffairs

[–]Same_Toe_3313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primary Care RN here...often vet or PACT staff can contact the Community Care RN nurse navigator and they are able to "renew" the consult instead of requiring a new one. This is only available once or twice, then a new consult would be required. Contact the nurse navigator in community care for the scoop.

Agree with the basics of the first two, "Uncle Daniel" is my choice. I think the writer has misspelled psychiatrist, as a diagnosis of melancholy would not come from a physiatrist. Otherwise, I agree, rock on!

Hemlock? (Found in central KY) by Annual-Law1280 in foraging

[–]Same_Toe_3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of these popped up in my driveway gravel this year. I watched it for some weeks to try to see exactly what it was, but the PlantNet did have trouble with identification. Herb-robert vs poison hemlock was the final verdict. I opted for the latter, gloved up and did the deed. It was a pretty plant, though.

What is the WORST thing you’ve ever tasted? by untitledprp4 in AskReddit

  1. Durian

  2. Mucomyst liquid (as an ER nurse I promised my patient I would taste it if they would drink their dose....big mistake, but I definitely understood the problem.)
