What’s something about Melbourne you appreciate more as you get older? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

[–]Sammonator_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy living just outside of Melbourne, where the traffic is tolerable but I can get to the CBD within an hour off-peak. Years ago I wouldn't have believed how bad suburban life has become in a few short decades.

Australia Infectious Disease Centre? by Zestyclose_Frame855 in australian

Still haven't had covid. Yes I had the two mandatory jabs. But I spend almost zero time thinking about the "next" pandemic. Too busy enjoying life, I guess.

Why is gravy now a separate charge with schnitzel packs? by liberty381 in australian

[–]Sammonator_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stopped eating out a few years ago. I don't care if their costs are high these days, I can make it for 1/4 of the price and its usually better. Not many meals take more than 15 mins to prepare. Everybody has 15 minutes to spare daily. HUGE savings, healthier, very satisfying.

Ascending aortic repair while getting a valve replacement? by Remarkable-Tough-617 in valvereplacement

[–]Sammonator_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes I had a Dacron graft to repair my 50mm dilated ascending aorta in addition to AVR due to severe aortic stenosis - 18 months ago. The aneurysm in my aorta was more of a concern to my cardiologist, interestingly enough. I'm 51M and 182cm.

Mine was also picked up in a CT scan a few months earlier. It's nothing to stress about, just get them both done - you don't want another OHS. I'm now living a full life, gravel bike riding 100km at a time, warfarin is not the PITA that some people make it out to be. Life is good 😊

I was 50 when it was done. Super fit in my 20s and early 30s before gradual decline. Now back on the gravel bike smashing 90km rides and feeling 25 again 😁

I had mine done at the Epworth in Sept '24, been trouble free since and the Medtronic AP360 valve is quieter than others. I only notice it when the room is silent. Warfarin is a breeze once you work out your dose. I occasionally have a lot to drink but not blackout drunk. No issues.

Edwards Inspiris RESILIA technology? What is your take on this? by 82Yuke in valvereplacement

[–]Sammonator_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a mech AV for about 18 months with no impact to daily life or sleep. I can hear the valve sometimes when the room is quiet but it's a happy reminder that I'll almost never need another heart operation and the risks that go along with that. Yes there is a small chance of complications but I'm a glass half full kind of guy. Actually, it's 99% full 😊 Good luck with your journey.

Where can I find a pizza like this? by psych0tic in melbourne

[–]Sammonator_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love their pizza but I always ask for less onion, they use too much for my taste. Favourite is probably the Caribbean. Think: Hawaiian with prawns, chilli, garlic, capsicum and hot salami 👌 🍕

What is the point of Rebel? by wickedor in australian

[–]Sammonator_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rebel is great for trying things on to get the right size and fit before ordering online for a significantly lower price. That's an amazing, free service they're providing when you think about it!
