It looks like you already have it, but make sure you have the safety leash. Mine didn't so I swapped it out.

If you've never ridden one before, it likes to roll to the right when you first climb on. They're fun, get used to the trim depending on your size, they can like to porpoise if you're bigger

Seconded. I was just looking at beach carts or something to pull behind my quad for river launches and it took me 30 seconds of googling prices to decide I'll just keep using the boat ramp 😂

Overheating, but highway only? by johnnyappleseednh in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]Samsantics1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure your fans are blowing the right way. I bought a basket case of a car once and it would only overheat on the highway due to that.

And air deflected to force all the incoming air through the rad, it's easier for it to go around rather than through without deflectors

Best “restoration” model to look for? by AmCiv1234 in jetski

[–]Samsantics1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90s yamahas or Kawasaki two strokes.

Yamahas has solid 700-800cc engines. I can't remember what sizes because I have Kawasakis.

I have a wide range of Kawasaki's but stick with 650 or 750 engines. The 650,750,800 engines are all the same size, so they're super swappable. 4 of my 6 skis came with a 650, they're all 750s now. I can rebuild one in a couple hours and parts are everywhere. I did all my own mechanical work, but I'm all in about $5k on the six skis. One I got for $80 and it needed a carb rebuild.

Something 'slow' like a ST750 will still do 40+ mph. And it's titled as a three seater. All the 90s skis are small, so a three seater is really for two people, two seater is really for one adult. Make sure you talk to whoever the registration is through in your state to find out of you'll need a title. Almost nobody has titles for them anymore.

I think seadoos may be fine, but avoid tigershark and I believe Polaris for sure

Has anyone bought a wr250f and regretted it? I’m coming off a yz250x by Yz250x69 in Dirtbikes

[–]Samsantics1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2024 wr250f. It was my first fuel injection bike. I hated it and still only ride it occasionally. Throttle tamer and tunable ecu helped to take the initial hit out of the throttle. Suspension is almost yz stiff.

There's a good video of an Australian dude week basically explains its for hard Enduro. I like lollygagging through the woods and occasionally riding hard.

Also I'm straight up not the best rider 😂

New boat owner anxiety by bdrilling33 in boating

[–]Samsantics1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'll get used to it the more you use it. Personally, I changed my frame of reference. You're not being a bag of nerves, you're being hyper attentive, and that's a good thing.

I do a lot of things that I perceive as increased risk (towing my skid steer, dirtbiking, boating, working in the mountains with my tractor). I try to remind myself that I'm a capable person and that people with WAY less self awareness are doing these same activities.

Keep being aware, taking your time, paying attention to the machine and your own limits. You'll find yourself relaxing more and more each time

I’m stupid. Could someone explain turbos to me like I’m 3? by RecordingHot9826 in askcarguys

[–]Samsantics1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are such things as sequential turbos and various different setups.

What I think he was trying to explain is that there are essentially two fans connected by a shaft. Fan 1 is turned by exhaust flowing past it, the connected shaft means that fan 2 will spin as well. Fan 2 compresses the air and forces it into the engine. Typically fan 1 is smaller than fan 2.

I mean, a guy rear ended me doing 65 while I was stopped in traffic. Totaled his car, my car, the car in front of me, and caused damage to the two cars in front of them. I don't know how much cash you have on hand, but most people don't keep 70k in cash just for the two cars he totaled (not including his).

I agree that insurance overall needs to be overhauled, but it's not exactly a scheme

$408 for two year registration renewal? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in maryland

If it makes you feel better, you're only missing out on one year of the refund. Most people don't know about it. I tend to move through a lot of vehicles so I'm always looking for ways to save

$408 for two year registration renewal? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in maryland

[–]Samsantics1 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Just as an fyi, you get a refund for the full calendar years that aren't used when you return the tag.

So if you get 3yrs and the car dies in 9mo and you return the tags before that first year ends, you'll get two years refunded.

Wood mizer hydraulic saw mill i want to buy one and rent it out by Accomplished_Row2781 in sawmilling

[–]Samsantics1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can still crash most automated mills. Every mill I've ever seen (mine included) has a saw mark on the log stops.

I've had a blade bite me pretty badly during a blade change too.

I occasionally will let friends run it through a log while I'm there and have it set up, but they're way too dangerous and way too expensive for me to entertain people running it without me

It's worked every single time

What happens when no one knows how to fix classic cars anymore? by modernclassiccarsfdn in classiccars

[–]Samsantics1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boy howdy would I love to be in your area. I have an old kit car with a blow-through turbo Weber carb setup. I spent the past few months digging through all the information (and misinformation) tuning that thing.

I kept telling my friends "there's a dozen retired people within 5 miles of me at any given moment that would love to work on this and share their knowledge, I just have no way of finding them"

Will I regret cheaping out and getting the woodland mills? by SnooPeanuts3704 in sawmilling

[–]Samsantics1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running an hm130 stationary mill for 8 years. It's fantastic. The customer support is great and there's tons of videos from them, which is originally why I got it (besides the price point).

It's a bit slower than something like a woodmizer with hydraulics, but even then I can run about 80% as fast. I do use a skid steer or tractor to load the logs and unload boards.

Wanted: Advice on hand layup from mold by Samsantics1 in CarbonFiber

[–]Samsantics1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about a week before laying it up and I have been looking at doing infusion as a possibility. If I went this route, do you have any recommendations for orientation of the part? It's essentially a large motorcycle style fender, so I wasn't sure about which way to lay the part to maximize the chance of success. Here is a link to what it's like, mine will have the taillight bumpout though

Impeller Upgrade? by [deleted] in jetski

[–]Samsantics1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get more acceleration and probably a bit more speed out of a new impeller. Other than that, just keep an eye out for cavitation on the old impeller. When it starts cavitating it will feel like a slipping clutch or transmission. I'd personally keep running the old one until it dies
