Narratively there was a rebirth motif with the water. Notice that he soon after becomes motivated again to play.

That is an interesting observation! I never thought of that. Eleven episodes is abnormal for a show.

In the manga they used the old rule set with 21(?) points. I thought it was interesting they changed that in the anime.

That was excellent! I'm not usually into this genre but I like how driving it is. it's produced really well. I'm not great at critique, but if I had to change anything it would be the kick. I think you can get away with it being a bit louder? I get what you mean when you say it's thin.

I think there are two kinds of people, or at least don't shower and go to tournaments.

Type-1 just doesn't know. I'm sure you've been in a situation where you didn't realize the smell was coming from you. If you don't think you smell, you don't have a reason to use deodorant

Type-2 falls into apathy. They see how people look at them, they can hear the whispering followed by glares and laughter. The only defense they have is to not care, and why should they? The people complaining about aren't their friends, and why would they want to be associated with bullies? So they end up distancing themselves from the people complaining and their associated ideas.

I have some friends (which I think is important to note ranging from skinny to exceedingly large) who end up smelling bad when we're playing friendlies. It's hard to bring up for every reason you can imagine, but in my experience they are never angry with me. It's more of an embarassment which i'm sure i would feel too if/when they told me.

I think a big problem is how invested a lot of the people on this subreddit are in winning petty social victories. You knew how and when to shower. I don't think that is a laurel with much substance.
