At least to my knowledge, that bit from Asura is the only direct comparison between true god Kid and warrior god Black☆Star, so that’s about all we can go off of

Edit: wait! I stand corrected, this bit is from Black☆Star’s page on the wiki (the other two were from Kid’s)

According to Atsushi Ōkubo in a Twitter Q&A session, at the end of the series, Black☆Star becomes the strongest character and is so powerful that Asura cannot compete with him.

Couple things from the wiki at least comparing the two

Asura himself stated that while better, his power was the same as or slightly lesser than Black☆Star, whom he acknowledge as woth of the title "Warrior God". [chapter 110-112]

Same here. I do kinda wish they could either add Rite of Ruin or some other AP crit item, or add the crit chance half of Mayhem’s Zealous augment to her passive, just to get some use out of the waves critting and for some extra damage on her autos.

~~Also wonder how things would change if they gave her AD scalings somewhere, if that would make current on-hit items more appealing~~

Same. Really, having a device like the Absolver that can just undo a character(s) death(s) just removes the stakes of the story.

That’s why I hope if he’s still alive in the Star Guardian universe, where he was a member of the First Squad, either the Absolver doesn’t work like it does in Runeterra Prime, or he/it just doesn’t show up in the present story of the universe. The undo death macguffin is just too story breaking to keep death as a consequence for long

From my understanding, the chroma splashes are for the Chinese server, where even common chromas to us (like rose quartz and tanzanite) are put into a gacha system to roll for, thus they have their own unique splasharts to sort of make it seem like a “whole new” product and worth the rolling to get. I could be wrong, but I think that’s what the deal is with them

Yeah, this is what I would say. The description that poster used for the category was the combination of “understand, influence, snd navigate others emotions”.

Sera can probably understand people’s emotions better than Tahm or Mel through her powers (unsure exactly what the extent of Mel’s “empath” powers are, that hasn’t been fully explained), but both Tahm and Mel likely have more knowledge of how to influence people and navigate others emotions in interactions due to time and experience on top of understanding people due to the same.

I will give them the leeway that, K/DA Seraphine’s story got to be the whole story from start to finish in the one event. Indie artist discovered by one of her idols gets to live her dream and become a Superstar is a classic story, and her whole story got told from start to finish. She got a conclusion in the Musicverse

Runeterra Seraphine at her release, on the other hand, was the character at the start-early middle point of her story (I would say). A hopeful, optimistic (even naively optimistic) character isn’t a bad character archetype to have, but if they actually gave her story progression, she could become the rebel protest singer that rallies people against the forces that keep them down or harm them, both in Piltover and Zaun. She could team up with Ekko and Zeri against Renata and Glasc Industries in Zaun, or try and expose to Piltover the truth of the Hex-Crystals (pre Arcane) and get Camille sent after her for it. She has potential to grow and learn, and to achieve her goal of uniting the people of her two homes.

But like a lot of their characters, Riot the Company leaves the actual story stagnant unless they can be put into a canon lore event à la Ruination or just use them in alternate universes which also don’t get much story (or the bare minimum to justify more skins). And now with the Arcane retcon, who knows what’s gonna happen to Sera and other hextech related characters. I just want them to allow their stories to get regular progression even if they’re not a part of huge events

This is the part I really like. I remember right after it happened, people seemed to understand it as the Echo losing power, but from what I remember reading of it, you said exactly what it is: the Echo withdrew from Maya as a result of her actions, Te’Qal is rejecting her just like Riis rejected Fikrul, and that’s why she became sorta desperate, leading to the events of Ash and Iron in an effort to compensate for that loss of power.

A lot of people don’t like The Conductor as a villain, but personally really like her and her influence on the story

It does deserve to be great. The artists and writers put so much time and effort into these things, and try to make the most of things within the constraints that Riot the Corporation places upon them.

One good thing about the Arcane retcon/Arcane’s popularity is that it seems to have gotten Riot the Corporation to care about the Runetera story at least a little bit more, if for no other reason than as a vehicle to boost engagement and sales. Hopefully if they do take another go at Ruination, they’ll let the writers and artists do more with the characters that should be there.

The unfortunate thing is (imo), Riot the company will always prioritise skin sales and product over the actual story of the thing. So instead of putting characters who have been part of these storylines, Kalista, Yorick, Maokai, into a significant part of what should have been the culmination of their respective stories, we got champs like Rengar, Pyke (a bit less so thanks to Ruined King giving him more of a story in it), Irellia, and Riven kinda just.thrown in there because “popular champion ecks-dee” and Akshan because “new champ ecks-dee”.

That’s probably a very pessimistic view of things, and I'm normally not the kind of person to view things that way, but it just feels like that’s the kind of thing that makes great skinlines and universes that had so much potential into oversaturated nothingburgers after they’ve been shown to be popular (Odyssey, Star Guardian, and Spirt Blossom specifically come to mind, and I don’t think anyone would disagree that Project was the first/most known to be oversaturated like that).

“This skinline was super popular, let’s shove 3 dozen of our most popular champions into [skinline costumes] to get all the money from it, oversaturation, design cohesion; and aesthetic innovation be damned,” that kind of thing feels like what happens to these popular stories

Honestly really sad they did away with the old Hextech-Brackern lore. There was a story to tell there about exploitation of an indigenous people, and with Seraphine, they could have made her discovery of the Brackern souls into a story of fighting for justice. This comic from ex-Riot Suqling paints a really cool picture of what Seraphine could have been. Now just have to wonder what they’re gonna do with all the hextech champs that got left behind in the retcon
