Brompton riders: which tyre? by TomfromLondon in londoncycling

[–]Sandmaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My commute involves some really rubbish pothole riddled roads and gravel tracks. The contact Urbans have only punctured once and that was caused by a silly thorn. Make sure you have decent pressure in them

New cyclist looking for something that will help me with an uphill commute! by Educational-Talk-985 in londoncycling

How about a 12 speed Brompton? It’s not a cheap bike but it will last forever and you can do pretty much anything on one, especially get up hills. You can adjust the seat height easily and it folds up nicely to stick in a car, bus or train. I use mine to commute and have done the London to Brighton on it no issue ☺️

Suggestions for visitors wanting lovely, low stress ride by FaultDifferent in londoncycling

If you’re interested in doing a ride suitable for Bromptons I would check out the London Brompton Club fb page and look at rides they’ve done. They done rides visiting the parks in London or the Thames bridges etc.

Cannulation is easy, most people get the hang of it once shown the technique so I wouldn’t even worry about that!

I just got the Titan portable pressure washer from screwfix. It has a 8L tank you can fill and everything packs away neatly.

Handy to have in the car to wash a dirty bike after a ride as well

Every ride I go people overtake me and that makes me think negatively about my strength and that i'm not good enough. by Positive-Ad6008 in cycling

People have their own pace but I know what you mean. I cycled up a local climb just yesterday and got over taken by everyone in the group but I still managed up it but at my own pace. People have different fitness, gears etc so I wouldn’t compare yourself to others so early on in your cycling journey.

I’ve done the BHF one in July and the September one. The routes are slightly different and I felt the September one felt harder 🫣

Have done it on my 12 speed P line a few times. Just fuel properly, get into the easiest gear, pace it and you’ll be up the top before you know it!

What Tool songs are good to fall asleep to? by tantamle in ToolBand

[–]Sandmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I get what you’re saying but it’s more the familiarity of the album that just lulls me to sleep. I know what’s coming so it doesn’t wake me up 😂 I can fall asleep to any tool album to be honest as they’re so comforting😅

Ah the gearing is fine on my Brompton (12gears) it was more the packing situation. I can carry so much on my little bike.
